The X-men run missions and work together with the NYPD, striving to maintain a peaceful balance between humans and mutants. When it comes to a fight, they won't back down from protecting those who need their help.
Haven presents itself as a humanitarian organization for activists, leaders, and high society, yet mutants are the secret leaders working to protect and serve their kind. Behind the scenes they bring their goals into reality.
From the time when mutants became known to the world, SUPER was founded as a black-ops division of the CIA in an attempt to classify, observe, and learn more about this new and rising threat.
The Syndicate works to help bring mutantkind to the forefront of the world. They work from the shadows, a beacon of hope for mutants, but a bane to mankind. With their guiding hand, humanity will finally find extinction.
Since the existence of mutants was first revealed in the nineties, the world has become a changed place. Whether they're genetic misfits or the next stage in humanity's evolution, there's no denying their growing numbers, especially in hubs like New York City. The NYPD has a division devoted to mutant related crimes. Super-powered vigilantes help to maintain the peace. Those who style themselves as Homo Superior work to tear society apart for rebuilding in their own image.

Aura knew the feel of the impact was wrong. She had knocked men's heads from their shoulders, stopped bear's in a blow. Had he been human, Aura's upward swing would tore through the man's stomach and started cracking ribs. She had figured it might be the case and hoped to make herself seem like more of a threat, to let the strange woman run. However reality was much much different. The man flew back but their was no blood, no cracked bones. Aura could have counted on one hand the number of people she had met that could have done what this man had. Maybe she was getting old, or maybe wariness had dulled her.
Aura had not expected the man to move so much and melting through the floor was very unexpected as well. Aura had put everything into the swing and had over committed. She had expected retaliation and she wonderd why he had not tried the thunderclap again or just grabbed her and threw her to the main land. Aura fell moments after the suited man head first, just under the lip of the hole, Aura thrust her leg back, into the ceiling expanding her Aura horizontally to keep her from falling. Testing the ceiling to make sure it was solid Aura puller her upper half level with her knees and forming her aura hammers back to swords, punched the ceiling and as the blade penitrated she flatted it out horizontellay, taking pressure off of her leg. Then with her other hand she reached the hole and sent a blade into it, letting the one on her leg and first arm fade to dangle be her left, she then grabbed the top of the hole and pulled herself up the the floor she had just fallen through.
"It's been a long time since i shared the dance floor with a Mutant as pretty as you, I'll be all right though i would feel better with a kiss" she said taking a few deep breaths. She had low expectations of a post fight kiss but a girl could try she figured, something like it had worked with Allison. "You all right?" she asked glancing around, her aura still coating her body though it had contracted to a few inches.
She shook her head. "I retire and the world goes to shit faster then i can manage to get myself killed. " she said only partly joking and with a heavy sigh became more serious. "Your name if you would my Mysterious friend and who are you with? You knew those names would carry weight enough for my trust. " she said seriously, she made no move to attack though her she was clearly keeping an eye and ear out both for the man man and the staff. She kept her Aura swords out, extending straight from her fingertips. This woman did know her of that Aura was certain, if she was friend or foe she did not know. After Alex Mirror was the closest thing she currently had, as sad as that was, as she was never clear on if Mirror liked her or not.
The seal-Door to the main drainage channel had been forced smooth off of it's hinges into the concrete wall of the drain-tunnel. Romulus emerged , peering right and left before entering ankle deep water levels and transitioning through the complex maze of tunnel and water ways until he found himself facing the open bay and had plunged into it's cold and inviting depths ---where he would go continue to go about escaping and evading further confrontation. Alot of time for a man to think while moving under water toward jersey, like how from a contractual standpoint this mission was an absolute success. The objective had been killed, and he was enroute to obtain another bargaining chip to use for money, influence or a get outta-deep-shit-for-free card. On the other note, a personal one, the two women put a god awful taste in his mouth. One that no amount of alcohol will drown out. The next time they'd cross paths there would be no morale code, no ethics, no passes. He was going for broke. He would aspire to settle scores indefinitely. In an hour or so's time the armored obelisk of a man would emerge from the Newark River, literally 200 meters shy of mcarter highway right near the Train-Park behind Newark, Penn Station.
He'd have entered the train park, and in possession of intimate knowledge of this area had him confident about not being seen picked up on any camera. His hands found the sides of his helmet, an audible depressurization occurred and the helm would release on it's magnetic bindings and open, right as he took his hand down and grabbed on a tarp and yanked it free from over his vehicle which had been parked and waiting here the whole time. Moving around to its rear the trunk was popped ajar and he began the process of removing armor pieces and storing them in the trunk, pulling an ear piece from a compartment in the back and putting it to his ear. An unknown on the other end had picked up and he'd respond. "I need whatever you have on a Mutant or inhuman. Codename: Aura...."
It was the one name that had been mentioned during their confrontation and it stuck, and would be the name he followed back to her on his own time and terms. For now...he'd have entered his vehicle...and taken leave.
((ooc Romulus may be out but we’re gonna wrap up here if that’s cool with everyone.))
The other woman was alright, though it took a feat of mutant strength for her to extricate herself from the hole into which she had fallen.
While she freed herself, Amelia took stock of herself. She was rattled, adrenaline was pumping, ears still ringing, but hearing was rapidly coming back. It wouldn’t be perfect but things were becoming a bit more clear, if dampened. She was bruised, but not injured. The man had escaped. He had not climbed out of the hole to take them on.
Why hadn’t he just fled before while they were dazed, if he could go through walks? Whatever. She shook her dazed head. Point was, they were alive which was better than some could say. And he was gone.
Words came to her and she focused back on Aura. Sorry, Unknown Mutant.
“Um.”
Had the woman just asked for a kiss?
“I’m fine,” she said loudly. Her voice volume was still compensating for her hearing.
The best course of action here was to not comment on the flirtatious woman’s comments… not that they weren’t appreciated, but time and place. Plus, job. Did SUPER wear body cams? No, she did not believe they did. But if security cameras at the prison were operational, she did not want to give them anything juicy. She had only just got off probation for the last juicy thing she had done.
“My name is Amelia. We met years ago. I was Mirror’s girlfriend back then. He introduced us. I probably bugged you with questions. You wouldn’t recognize me now. A wizard changed my face. Well. My everything. And I guess technically, she was a witch and not an ugly bastard like him, but…” She was rambling unprofessionally. It had to stop. In a minute. One last thing. “I bet on them having invited you to the baby shower, like Mirror invited me. Guess I was right. You okay?”
She seemed okay, at a glance. Four limbs, one head, all in proper places, but one can never tell. She could have been injured internally.
Her coats inner pocket vibrated, as if on cue. Amelia tore off her riot helmet, revealing her face. Slightly reddened on one cheek, from where one ear had leaked following the big noise, but still clean and friendly. With brown hair cut in a bob that framed her face. Entirely unfamiliar to UM, but then, she had said that.
She held up one finger on her gloved hand as she pulled out the black disc with a blue X on its face, and held it to her ear.
She was quiet a moment, the said “Louder, please.” More silence. “Okay. Guys gone. One minute while I talk to someone? Stay there.”
Amelia covered the disc, and turned back towards UM.
“UM. That was an X-man named Shard. He’s outside. I called for backup a while ago, and they just arrived. He’s cool. If you trust me, I can arrange a flight back to the mainland for you through him. As a thanks. For the help. Thanks for the help, by the way. You didn’t have to do that.” More quietly, she added. “Not even sure how you got here in the first place, NGL. But it sure was timely.”
She smiled weakly, and hoped UM was still willing to be friendly beyond all of that.
The woman likely needed a ride. They were on an island, for gods sake. How?
Amelia, yes she recalled the girl. Where Mirror had been very cautious at the meeting in the mansion living room Amelia had been inquisitive. "You have grown with your powers. Close enough, The coral girl invited me, Mirror was, shocked and i think just happy i cuased no issues" she said with a smile. She had behaved and things had gone well, though she had not stayed to long, despite what Alex wanted. "I am all right, another blow or two however" she shook her head, she was not used to being so outclassed. Maybe she should have kept up her heavier training, or maybe it was someone elses issue, she would figure it out later.
She shook her head. "You Are a mutant, old friend, My trust and aide are assured so long as you are and you do not cause undue harm to our people" she said casually. They likly did not have time to go over much here but, still she was glad to know Amelia was alive, in a way it gave her hope for Amber, Abyss and Syn. "I don't even kill humans anymore or Mystics....though the magic people are making that very hard" she said considering the guy who had been here. She glanced at the hole in the floor then to the corridor she had come down.
"And you did not have to call shard for me, my pretty friend, will beat the swim here" she lied, she could swim but she was doubtful she could have made it out to the island. Aura was use to swimming in lakes and rivers not open ocean even near the coast. Maybe she would see if her aura could help one day.
"A mystic stole your face huh? They kidnapped me after i stopped them from kidnapping children and used me as a puppet to kill mutants for bets. And yet without one of them we would not both be here. Strange how fates works my pretty friend. " she said happily, cracking her shoulder as she spoke.
"I recall our meeting back then, Mirror was quite protective of you, but you were enthusiastic and did not hold my, monstrous ways against me. I had been brought in after the Mansions null ran me over. Shes part of why i stopped eating random animals off the streets" she said recalling the time fondly
Coral girl? Nope. Had not met her. Amelia nodded though, as if she had.
Funny, mirror had been just as surprised as everyone. Their dumb shocked face was always worth seeing.
Aura was alright. Good. Her words about mutants being people she would help, up until they started causing undue harm to her people… made Amelia note to be ultra quiet about her day job.
‘Oh yes, I am a police officer type who arrests bad mutants and used to kidnap and tag dangerous elements for science and future avoidance slash location slash preventative measures.’ This comment here, people. This is what would have caused Aura to kill her, if she made it. But she wouldn’t. And didn’t. Instead, Amelia just nodded her head.
Right, aura likes protecting mutants. Checked and noted.
Good she did not kill people, good to know. Yes, mystics did indeed make it hard didn’t they? Was that was they called themselves? Mystics? Okay.
Aura wanted to swim? Long way for a swim. Amelia arched an eyebrow at that. They’d touch upon that subject again, briefly. But first—
More flirtation? More talk. More digesting knowledge.
>> “A mystic stole your face huh? They kidnapped me after i stopped them from kidnapping children and used me as a puppet to kill mutants for bets. And yet without one of them we would not both be here. Strange how fates works my pretty friend.”
Aura talked more about when they’d first met and yeah, that sounded like her. Poor lady, sounded like she had baggage what with the “monstrous ways” comment. Probably not the type to openly flirt with, unless you wanted a bad time.
“Probably a good thing not to eat random animals off the street,” Amelia agreed. “Avoid New York hot dogs if you want to continue the trend. And yeah, mystics, whew. The whole thing—“.
She started walking towards the exit, hoping Aura would follow as they talked.
“It was less ‘stole face’, more— she and I were on a date and one thing led to another and a different kind of magic happened than the one I had expected?” She raised her voice on the last part, trying to play it like a joke. Although truth be told, that Magic had happened as well. Before, she thought. “Really can’t remember the fine details but I think it was a ritual and somewhere, deep down, I was willing. She said I would have had to have been, for the Magic to work. Sooooo… guess my experience was notably more positive than their kidnapping you and torturing you by making you a killer marionette. Because — hold on a second.”
She turned. “Are you sure you don’t want a ride? It’s a long walk underwater to the mainland and I trust him. And if you have any complaints—“
Amelia dug in one of her numerous pocket in her coat, and found a pad of post its and a pen. She jotted something down, then tore the top more off the pad and passed it to Aura.
“You can call the complaint department. My number.” She smiled slyly.
"Yea like the bone furniture it drew to much attention" she said thinking about it. Plus it had put far to much blood on her hands. She had been a kid when she had done that and it had been quite awhile since she had even made her bone furniture. Well over six years if she recalled, in fact she had killed remarkably few people the past few years. "I has less morality back then to" she added afterwords.
Aura took a deep breath and her veneer of strength faded a moment. "I'm positive it was then, I will never forget their screams or how each died, i owe them that much for being captured alive" she said not quite saying the truth, of how enraged she was with herself, how it still somtimes affected her powers.
Aura followed and gave a slight smile. "A ride would be nice, truth be told im not entirely sure i could make the swim without some practice"" she said not entirely sure she could maintain the aura tool she thought might make it. She was without an exit plan though and fighting her way out well doable seemed unneeded as of now. The jail staff likely heard about Abyss leveling the last place that tried to hold Aura for long. Still She knew they would have to atleast try and contain her if it came to it.
She took the paper and glanced at, then folded it and returned the smile and wonderd just what kind of ride her old friend might have in mind. Maybe she was still in contact with mirror, it might of explained her knowledge to Aura. "Maybe i should have gotten a complaint department back in the day, would have helped Lisa out" she mused unsure if the woman even knew who Lisa was. She had never been entirely sure if Lisa was a mutant, a skill Aura hoped to expand further.
Aura got intense for a minute. Amelia let her process things. Sounded like it had been a hell of an experience. She had been full of anger after her kidnapping too, but super had not taken her mind and made her do awful things. So—
They moved on to numbers and rides. Aura was for it.
Amelia made a call. Like 15 minutes later, the x jet arrived. It landed, vtol style. Amelia led Aura in.
Shard greeted Aura jovially enough. Said something about deja vu. Then, Shin flew them to the other side of the water, somewhere safe. They dropped aura off.
“Call me,” Amelia waved.
The jet took off vertically, then disappeared into the night.
