The X-men run missions and work together with the NYPD, striving to maintain a peaceful balance between humans and mutants. When it comes to a fight, they won't back down from protecting those who need their help.
Haven presents itself as a humanitarian organization for activists, leaders, and high society, yet mutants are the secret leaders working to protect and serve their kind. Behind the scenes they bring their goals into reality.
From the time when mutants became known to the world, SUPER was founded as a black-ops division of the CIA in an attempt to classify, observe, and learn more about this new and rising threat.
The Syndicate works to help bring mutantkind to the forefront of the world. They work from the shadows, a beacon of hope for mutants, but a bane to mankind. With their guiding hand, humanity will finally find extinction.
Since the existence of mutants was first revealed in the nineties, the world has become a changed place. Whether they're genetic misfits or the next stage in humanity's evolution, there's no denying their growing numbers, especially in hubs like New York City. The NYPD has a division devoted to mutant related crimes. Super-powered vigilantes help to maintain the peace. Those who style themselves as Homo Superior work to tear society apart for rebuilding in their own image.

It was a date. The first one the immortal had since being summoned to this era. ”What an auspicious day!” it was evening though so when he said it he had to think a little on it wondering if he should correct himself.
Was it evening? Well it was an hour before eight and he had arrived at the given location, which was good because he failed to spell the name correctly once and only learned about it after someone said “welcome to Sipello’s” it was clear his spelling was still lacking but at least he had enough sense to ask them about their competition. Apparently it was a question that was asked often so when the valet told him Hercules granted the young boy a five from the god. He wasn’t as pleased as he should have been. Maybe it should have been a fist bump?
”I have arrived!” Hercules said wearing a suit and red tie, it was a bold choice to wear red but he had started to understand the color that matches the food is sometimes best, less dry-cleaning. Unfortunately for Hercules he was matching the valet at this restaurant and what he could tell all the wait staff and the hostess.
“That’s great, you mind holding the door?” the hostess asked looking him up and down and deeming him rather large for a new hire. Hercules looked to the door and grinned then looked to the clock. He had time! ”But of course! Allow me!” he said loudly welcoming the challenge to hold the door open for a small old frail couple. While they might struggle with the weight of the door it was nothing to the prince of power. The door almost burst off the metallic hinges as he pushed the door open.
“Thank you, son.” said the old man shuffling out behind his wife giving the chiseled giant a thumbs up. Hercules studied the man for a long while as he walked out to the valet. That couldn’t have been his father right? The woman was far too old to be in his father’s tastes.
An hour went by and somehow Hercules lost track of time as more people filtered in and out of the building, some patting their stomachs satisfied with the meal while others complained how hungry they were and couldn’t wait to eat. Everyone however seemed to think the same thing this place was great.
“Aren’t you a little big to be working here?” the valet asked twirling a pair of keys in his fingers. Lighting up a cigarette Hercules shook his head, ”I’m waiting for someone, my first date in this era!” he responded allowing the door to close behind him waiting for the next couple to enter or exit. “Oh yeah? Good for you man. I used to be excited about dates as well, then I got married ha! Seriously though, have you thought about stepping into a ring?”

Elizabeth had planned to get there early, but it had been one thing after another. There was a temporal warp at the mansion that had trapped her and half the students there in stasis for a couple of hours, and then somehow Nico had gained some fire ability and for a short time had been flying around and setting things ablaze. Then her taxi driver got lost and to wrap it all up, she had a really annoying song stuck in her head.
So Liz was only five minutes early to the...yes, it was a date. Dinner at a fancy place, just her and a man. Even a mysterious man like Hercules.
She strolled up the sidewalk to the entrance of Spinelli’s. Her simple black dress was modest, but showed off a bit of leg, which was only accented by her heels. A gold belt draped around her waist and was matched by gold bracelets on either wrist and gold self defense rings on her middle fingers. Her wavy hair cascaded down back and partially over her shoulders, the sides having been pulled back into an elegant braid. Simple golden hoops hung from her ears and a simple gold chain lay around her neck.
In the back of her mind she shooed away a few rats who’d been watching her, undoubtedly attracted by her ornaments. <<No need to hang around here,>> she told them, her words redundant with the impressions of escape she laid upon them. <<It won’t turn out good for anyone.>>
A plain black purse hung from a shoulder but for once, Liz was in public animal-free. It wouldn’t really do to bring one on a first date, not at a fancy restaurant. She didn’t want to run the risk of being thrown out. So it was just her.
And apparently she actually was late! Liz broke into a sunny smile as she approached the door that was ever so gallantly held open. “My, such a gentleman!” she said graciously, giving Hercules a small, but still elaborate curtsy. “Already scoring some good points with me, mister!” She let out a small laugh as she swept into the restaurant.
The giant smiled as his ‘date’ appeared. Her whole ensemble, especially the black dress stood out mainly because it seemed so different from her normal look. One that already captivate the god of strength, his smile widened as he bowed his head to her curtsy as an old man with a toothpick and his wife passed through the open door. “Thanks big guy” he strut out with his date in arm as Hercules continued to stare at Elizabeth.
”But of course! God of strength, willpower and character!” he chuckled adding the last one to his list of titles he had given to himself. It was rare for anyone to argue with gods so they could pretty much claim anything they wanted to. It only made them look foolish when they couldn’t back it up. Hercules was confident he could back it up.
”You look beautiful.” the god said making sure not to add, ‘tonight’ or ‘this evening’ he found her attractive and he was direct.
”Careful, don’t make this sound like a competition.” he said following Elizabeth into the restaurant. The door finally shut behind him and the controlled environment became apparent. ”I have a competitive nature. When they removed me from the games it took me months to recover.” he said talking about THE games. A lesser god would have taken years to recover the blow to his ego. Hercules knew it was because they didn’t have enough gods to compete. It wouldn’t have been a challenge anyways.
The hostess looked to Liz, then to Hercules behind her then had the realization that the behemoth behind the woman in black wasn’t there to work he was there for a date. She looked down to her clothes then to Hercules who matched the attire. “Why didn’t you tell me you weren’t here to work!?!? I am sooooo sorry!” she said blushing and quickly looking down at her seating chart. ”I had some time, I arrived early!” he said waving off her fears.
“Let me take you to your table! Sorry again!” she continued to blush from embarrassment as she gathered two menus and guided the pair to a table near a large open window. Hercules followed once again and pulled the chair out for Elizabeth. ”Allow me!” he said helping her get seated and then sat across from her.
”It seems this is a popular spot. Have you dined here before Elizabeth?” he asked as he sat down towering in his chair that seemed to shift to his weight. The god made a mental note not to move too much less he break the unfortunate chair.

Elizabeth smiled easily and readily enough as the giant followed her inside. “Why, thank you,” she said, dipping her head graciously. Liz made a point to glance back and eye him up and down. “You’re looking quite dapper yourself. You have excellent taste.” And an amazing tailor - there was no way he’d bought a suit that fit him so well off a rack!
She turned back to watch where she was going. In an absence of surrounding animals, she was quite limited to her own human senses. It meant she couldn’t have eyes in the back of her head anymore. Ah well, the sacrifices one made for fine dining.
“Pray tell, what should I be careful about?” she asked, feigning innocence. “I believe competition can be very healthy indeed. It keeps you on your toes.” She chuckled slightly. “Besides, I don’t recall hearing that you ever won any of the games.”
Liz could feel Hercules behind her, even without any animal sentires alerting her, and she forced herself not to turn around and see his expression. The hostess thought he’d been working there? Oh there was a story there! But Liz kept those things off her face - no need to make the woman feel any more embarrassed than she so clearly was. She kept a pleasant smile on her face as they were led to their table.
“Thank you,” she said warmly as she sat down in the seat Hercules had pulled out for her. “Such a gentleman!” There was no trace of mockery in her tone - she meant it. Her smile was genuine as well. Liz wasn’t one of those women who expected the man to do everything for her - she was just as capable of pulling her own chair out - but sometimes it was nice to be given the courtesy.
Settling her purse on the adjacent chair, Liz responded. “A couple of times. Had a celebratory dinner with some old friends when I moved back to the mansion. Once or twice since. It’s great Italian cuisine, but mixes in other Mediterranean foods as well.” She looked at him with a twinkle in her eyes. “But I assume you’d know that already. After all, you clearly work here and everything. Do we only have an hour while you’re on your lunch break?”
The god looked down at his clothes grateful that William’s recently deceased father was a large man. Without him the clothes wouldn’t have been possible. He was large in stature, most of his clothes fit, but just in all the wrong places. ”Thank you, William helped me pick this out!” he said proudly that his master was capable of such fashion choices.
”Ha! I don’t lose! Why advertise a god won? It gives the other competitors and any potential challenge despair and makes them less reluctant to compete. It was one of the first ways I got my father’s attention.” the god said boasting. ”Half of the current games were based off of feats I have accomplished.” he added.
”After it was revealed my father was Zeus I had to find other sources to find my competition.” he competed against gods from other pantheons at that point but didn’t feel it needed elaboration unless she asked about it.
The god chuckled at her comment and cleared his throat, ”Yes well, they offer great benefits.” he didn’t actually work here, the staff would have been smiling more if he did. The god would have made sure of it. ”You have till William summons me, and he has a sleepover tonight so I feel I will have the evening to do whatever I desire.” the god said happily with a smile.
”I could smell something spectacular when I was holding the door. Enough to make my mouth water. I believe it was the smell of lamb. The smell was enough to take me back a few hundred years.” he said chuckling again.
”Were you celebrating your return?” he asked curiously careful not to lean too much as the chair squeaked under his weight and movement.

“Send William my compliments then,” Liz said with a nod of her head. Amusement lit her tone. The friendship of William and Hercules was fascinating - it was both tragic and humorous and sweet and...well...fascinating. Much of William’s support came socially and culturally, lending considerable evidence to Hercules’s claims to be from an entirely ancient era. So far, Liz had found no fault in the man’s story and she wasn’t so sure she wanted to.
Not that she was going to make it easy on him, of course. “Oh yes, I’m sure the other gods and mortals cowered in awe of your BMX riding skills or your prowess with a trampoline.” She nodded with a serious frown before winking. “And what did Daddy think of your wins?” Whether this was an interview or a storytelling session, Liz looked forward to the answers. If it was real, amazing. If just a good story, no matter. Liz liked a good story.
She laughed breathily. “I’m pleased we won’t need to rush through the courses, then,” she said. “It’s ever so hard to carry a conversation when both parties are more invested in shoving food into their mouths before time runs out.”
Liz tapped her lips in idle thought. “I don’t believe I’ve ever had lamb before,” she mused. “I take it you really enjoy it?”
The zoopath leaned forward at the exact degree of Hercules. “Indeed. I used to attend the school myself when I was younger, before I moved away to pursue a teaching degree. I’ve been back a year now and so much has changed, even though so much has stayed the same. Most the people I knew are gone, but a good handful have stuck around.” Her eyes stared off into space, notes of nostalgic dreaminess and sadness mixed together.

”I shall! I think it’s important for my young master to receive them from someone other than just me! The boy is a plethora of surprises that seem to never cease.” he said fondly.
”Ze-” he cleared his throat and his tone changed slightly, not ready to talk about his father and his relationship. ”My father was impressed, it was one of the reasons I gained his favor and caught his attention. He wasn’t around much when I was a boy. So it was important to let him know I existed and who I was.” he paused for a moment, ”BMX?” not sure what kind of sport that was and how to ride it.
Smiling, ”Time is little concern to gods but I shall refrain from eating as quickly as possible. Courses? More than one? Hmmmm...” Hercules trailed off wondering what other course they had and what relation to the lamb he smelled. His stomach growled loudly announcing his hunger. ”It is nothing compared to Pizza. I’ve recently discovered the delectable meal. No, lamb just reminds me of home before I became a god. It was something I had often.”
”Oh? So you’re a scholar then! I have known many of them in my lifetime! Most of them on subjects I can’t recall. I attended lectures before but never found myself compelled by a subject. Other than the stars, they are one of the few things that haven’t changed since my birth.” he said watching Elizabeth trail off.
A waiter came with the drink menus then looked to Herc’s tie which was identical to his and smiled, “Nice tie.” Hercules chuckled, ”Thank you! I like yours as well!” the waiter returned the chuckle then set down the menus. “How are you two doing today? You guys like Reds? Got a great special on our ‘24 the chef picked it to pair with his special tonight if you two are interested.”

Elizabeth’s expression did not change, but her focus sharpened on Hercules. He didn’t want to say Zeus’s name. Interesting. She didn’t know what that meant, of course. Daddy issues? Trying to play cool and stay undercover? No, that definitely wasn’t it. Liz had no reason to believe there was a single shred of subtlely or sneakiness to this man. Perhaps it was a slip in his story? If so, he recovered smoothly, crafting an origin rather quickly and justifying prior actions.
“Yes, BMX,” Liz repeated impishly. She knew he was asking for clarification but in a fit of sudden mischief and scientific studiousness, she chose not to explain BMX bikes. If he truly was a man from ancient Greece, he likely wouldn’t know what they were, but a modern man, an actor would. Of course, an actor could easily pretend not to know, but if Liz refused to play along, she could potentially wind him up in so many spontaneous lies that eventually she’d be able to pin him down and ascertain the truth once and for all.
Even though sometimes a man was just a god.
Honestly, she didn’t really care about the findings of her experiment, other than the fact she didn’t know something for sure and the hypothesis was something she’d absolutely love to believe in. If it were true, what a trove of knowledge and culture Hercules could be! But all information was suspect until identity verification occurred.
“Pizza is indeed a fantastic choice,” she said agreeably enough. “It’s one of the most variable foods in existence, and so easily taken for granted.” Again, he might have actually only been recently introduced to pizza. Or he was lying. Then again, it was pizza. What did it matter? And she was still enjoying herself.
Elizabeth returned her focus when the waiter arrived. Listening to his spiel, she smiled warmly. “It sounds marvelous to me,” she said, inclining her head to Hercules. “What say you?” Turning back to the waiter, “What’s the special tonight?”

”Aye! The ‘chef’ special sounds great!” he said answering Elizabeth before the man could finish telling them about the special which was a form of lamb on pasta. Something fitting for the fusion of the food. Hercules seemed all to excited to try something new and with the wine. It would be a fun night. William even gave him the ‘black’ credit card. The one that held the most power in it. Now that they weren’t exactly strapped for cash Hercules was all to happy to experience the finer things this era had to offer.
The waiter smiled and walked off after taking the order.
”Where were we...” Hercules asked looking back to Elizabeth. ”Ah yes! Pizza! I recently discovered dessert style pizza as well. Truly inspiring to see what you mortals come up with. Never cease to amaze me.” he chuckled.
”Now tell me about this BMX.... is it an acronym?” he asked hoping it was something he have heard of before but just called by a different name. ”Would it be some sort of bi or triathlon? I’ve competed in races like that before.” Hercules said confidently. He might have not been the fastest runner but he made up for it by swimming or throwing things (himself included).

The blonde arched an eyebrow in amusement. Ordering for her, was he? Well, he was quite fortunate that she utterly agreed with his choice and would’ve said so herself, you know, if she’d been consulted. She let it slide, though. Why bother making something out of nothing when she was still going to end up with exactly what she wanted anyways? She’d just make sure to order an extra fancy dessert instead.
Payback was sweet and delicious when cold. That’s why it was known as just desserts.
She smiled zenly at the man. “Oh yes, we mortals are miracle workers when it comes to toppings on a disk of dough,” she said with a modest shrug. “Dessert pizza is indeed an accomplishment, one that has brought much honor to the family of its originator, but it doesn’t even compare to the creator of...Hawaiian pizza.” Her cherry-red lips parted, exposing her teeth. Now she’d get to see how good of an actor he was. Whether one loved it or hated it, nobody could stay neutral about the subject.
Liz nodded and leaned back in her chair, a few bracelets sliding a bit down her forearms. “Why yes, BMX is an acronym,” she said, her expression revealing nothing else. “And it’s not like any iatholon.” Well, it could possibly be one of the events in one, but that was a minor detail. The curiosity lent itself well to supporting his story of who he was….but then again questions were easy deflections.
“Tell me about some of those races. What’s one of the more challenging ones you finished?”

”...... Your descended from the one that has created dessert pizza?” Hercules asked clearly impressed, ”I’m honored to be dining with you then. I have sat with kings, queens and gods. I’ve never been so grateful someone accepted an offer to dinner.” the demi-god said bowing his head a little in respect. ”Who came up with the idea? Was it intentional or a happy mistake?”
”Hawaiian Pizza...” Hercules repeated leaning back in his chair a little causing the thing to groan from the weight shift of him moving. Hercules ignored it as he thought. ”Pinapple and Ham? Correct?” he asked recalling the menu from the pizza place he had memorized. It was apparently a long week for his master when Hercules discovered they made different kinds of pizza. ”It’s sweet but I prefer more meat on the pizza. Supreme, I believe it’s called.” he said nodding as if he finally decided on his favorite.
She didn’t elaborate on BMX. The god made note to look it up later. It was the second time she didn’t elaborate so he decided to drop the ‘game’ whatever it was. Maybe William knew about it? ”Most difficult?” he thought about the time when he was young and mortal.
”It was before I ascended to godhood. Before my father took notice of me and I was trying to make a name for myself. While I had my strength, it was unrefined. I was hardly old enough to be considered a man by your standards now. I was to row the Aegeon from Athens to Trace and back.” he moved his glass of water a little as he drew a map on the table with his hands.
”I was part of a crew.” a spoon played the ship, one that was going straight at a diagonal from his glass to hers. ”Ones that like me wanted to make a name for themselves in the games. It was the third day at sea, we were blown slightly off course into a bay of sirens. Their call distracted us for a time, I learned quickly how cruel the gods could be.” there was a pause and he recalled the screams of the crew as they met their demise and how scared he was. ”I was fortunate enough then to have survived somehow.” it was the captain of the crew. He apparently had dealt with their kind before.
The spoon moved slightly across the ‘map’ of the table. ”We then encountered a...” he paused trying to find the right word in English, ”A Ketos.” he paused, ”Sea monster, a serpent that could destroy a ship with ease. One I would later encounter on one of my many trials.” he paused again this time waiting for the waiter to bring the bottle of wine and pour it for the pair of them.
”The crew was tired, and fewer in number. Since we had departed, an oar and my strength was enough to best the beast. I took it by surprise and the sound of the oar smacking the beasts head sounded of thunder. The crew and myself were surprised by the result but we managed to get away at that point.” the spoon moved along the table to her glass then back to his.
”I shall show you the tattoo if you wish!” he said standing up and loosening his tie.

Elizabeth’s eyes twinkled. Somehow Hercules got the idea that she was descended from the creator of the dessert pizza. Well, it would hardly be polite to correct him of such a notion, would it not? It also wouldn’t be as much fun.
“Yes, yes I am,” she said with a nod of affirmation. In response to his bowing of his head, she lifted her left hand and flicked her fingers as if warding off a pest. “Fret not, however. None of us stand on formality...it is a point of honor that we remain humble at all times.” She might’ve tilted her chin up a bit, so slightly look down her nose in what she gauged to be a subtle gesture of noble snobbery. “I am afraid I am not at liberty to divulge any information about the origins of dessert pizza. The knowledge was sealed away in the book of Sundancers and buried in the family vault, never to be shared with those not of the blood.”
She gazed into the distance and frowned momentarily, before cutting her eyes back to Hercules. “Hawaiian pizza is fair game, though. No ancestral geas on that. And yes, ham and pineapple.” She winked impishly at Hercules. “Supreme, huh? Good, solid choice. But if meat is what you’re looking for, always order the Meat Lover’s pizza. Four meats minimum, sometimes five or six, barring any extra toppings you add.” She leaned in. “That’s Italian sausage, ham, bacon, and pepperoni, at the very least.”
And darn it if she wasn’t starting to get hungry! Or maybe it was the trio of rats she could still feel just outside the restaurant, nosing around the wall. Not too far from them, actually. Just on the other side of the window. Liz smiled faintly and tamped down on the connection between them and her - she didn’t need such distractions at the moment.
Hercules’s story was far too riveting.
She followed his hands and eating implements as he enacted the story, only occasionally glancing up at his strong features and piercing gaze. She found herself leaning forward, both elbows on the table as she visualized it. He was so sincere, so animated, so earnest. So passionate. He finished all too soon and before she realized it he was up and playing with his tie.
It took her a moment to catch up. “Oh no no no,” she said, snapping back to reality and frantically glancing around the restaurant. “Not here!” she whispered quickly. “This isn’t the kind of place for that.” Then she quirked an eyebrow. “...where exactly is the tattoo?” Regardless, if he had to shed clothes to reveal it, even a shirt, this wasn’t the place, but depending on how much he had to shed there was a good chance she didn’t want to see it at all. And then she remembered his tattoos were odd. Always shifting, moving, changing. How did he even know what he had?
She opened her mouth and then shut it, before another thought crossed her mind. “Your story...it reminds me of the crew of the Argo. Are you familiar with it?”

Hercules’s jaw dropped at the mention of meat lovers, that was... brilliant and such an easy name! He knew what he was ordering next time the god got to pick the dinner. Even if William was sick of Pizza. Surely a growing boy would appreciate the amount of meat on the dish. The god made note of the Sundancers. Surely someone will ask about the origin of the dish, and the god would be able to regal someone with the story how he met one. What an era!
”Hmmmm?” Hercules asked already unbuttoning his shirt, the jacket was still on and the tie was pulled off to the side and over his shoulder. ”It’s on the chest.” he’d have to look for it, the tattoo’s had moved around often so it was difficult to pinpoint it without searching for it. Why couldn’t he do the searching here.
There were a few eyes on him and the god nodded his head, it seemed that this wasn’t the place. Everyone here was fully clothed. ”Very well! I shall show you in private later! I have one tattoo for every trial, accomplishment and defeat!” his body might have started to flex as he re did a button or two and threw the tie back into it’s correct place.
”I should say! Similar yes, it was years later I joined that crew. Jason was the captain, terrible hero.” he nodded his head and sat back down. ”You seem to know of my exploits!” it was natural he was a famous hero.
”It did take me some time to get my sea legs after the first run in with the Ketos. Most of my heroics were done on land. Far easier to fight with solid ground under you. The ships were strong yes, but I’ve put my foot through the hull of a ship many of times.” he said rubbing the back of his head now that he was sitting.
”Now, tell me what you know of my time with the Argo?” he asked practically glowing. History got the basic gist of it but there were key details that he thought were just important. Maybe he’d have more information for her.

Elizabeth let out a sigh of relief. Oh good, Hercules was stopping his incipient Magic Mike routine. Not that he didn’t have the body for it, but this was so not the right place. “Uh, sure, maybe later,” she said. She saw his muscles flex before the shirt was buttoned back and she quickly reached for her glass of water, ruining the Argo’s invisible journey on the table in order to quench a sudden thirst. Thankfully the tattoo was just on his chest - if it had been anywhere else Liz would’ve been embarrassed beyond belief. Hopefully his pants weren’t tear-away - that would only lead to disaster.
It explained a bit though, the tattoos. She hadn’t gotten good looks at them in either of her encounters with him. Usually she’d been too busy trying to distract him from whatever he shouldn’t be doing, the shifty, glowy nature of the tattoos acted as camouflage, preventing her from getting a clear image of any of them. But still, there had been a lot of tattoos.
“....how exactly did you get your tattoos to do that?” she asked, setting down her water. Because he’d confirmed they were, in fact, tattoos, and not mutation markings. Which just opened many, many questions.
It appeared she’d been spot-on about Hercules’s story and he was quick to put her on the spot. She nodded slightly in acknowledgement of the turnabout. “The gods of Greece helped build and guide the ship, it’s original voyage to retrieve the golden fleece. Water spirits assisted the Argonauts, Poseidon translated it into a constellation.” She angled her head. “The story changes quite a bit though. Depends on who’s telling it. What’s your version of it?”

”Ah... I was cursed.” the demi-god said simply. It had been something he had centuries to dwell on. At this point he accepted his cards dealt by the fates. Then again, even they didn’t reveal what was in store for the god. They didn’t see his imprisonment coming meaning Hera and Hecate had figured ways to avoid their gaze.
”The tattoo’s move on their own, part of the curse. They are the chains that bind me to mortals and prevent me from using my full strength to help said mortals. Without someone to give me power in this plane I cease to be.” he paused, ”They have a mind of their own and are designed to keep people from reading all of the runes and spells. The images of my triumphs and defeats help to distract from learning much. The witch thought of everything.” he said shrugging it was a burden his shoulders were capable of holding. He had found purpose and that was all that mattered.
”The fleece was the reason for us gathering together, however it was much longer than most of the stories tell. It got to the point I was fed up with Jason, favored by her.” he didn’t like saying her name, ”Jason, like most heroes are impressive in their own right but all of them have flaws. Being favored by the gods only increases the flaw. He... I didn’t agree with a lot of his methods and his willingness to do whatever it takes to get the job done. He was a king after all and he made it clear that no one would keep him from what was his.” the god said lifting the wine and cheering the one who dances under the sun.
”It was a ship like no other....” the god recalled as he told the story. A sense of sadness overcame him as he strolled down memory lane. ”The ship had it’s own crew quarters, captains. Such a thing was unheard of. It doubled in size of any ship before it, ‘blessed’ as you say by some of the gods. My uncle, my aunt and brother, and even myself. Before I was a god of course. I joined after they defeated the harpies saving the blind prophet. My father wanted me to ‘correct’ some of their thinking hoping it would be good to learn from the heroes that accompanied them.”
The prince of power took a sip and set his glass down, ”He was a womanizer, greedy and towards the end of my time with them a coward. They ended up leaving me alone, when my friend was kidnapped. To him everyone on the crew was expendable.” This was a sore subject for the demi-god. One of his greatest defeats as a result tears welled up then started to stream down his face recalling his friend before he was drowned by one of the water spirits the ship was blessed by.
”I refused to help him with anything after that. That man was no hero. The people that served him however, those were the real heroes. I fondly recall the memories I have with them.” he paused for a second, then added, ”In the end it was the witch Medea who charmed the beast that protected the fleece making it child’s play to retrieve it.”
After a moment Hercules cleared his throat, ”It’s cruel that history neglects all the people that lifted those to greatness. Even Heroes need allies.” he chuckled loudly, ”Were it not for many of my allies I would have never succeeded with all my trials.”
