The X-men run missions and work together with the NYPD, striving to maintain a peaceful balance between humans and mutants. When it comes to a fight, they won't back down from protecting those who need their help.
Haven presents itself as a humanitarian organization for activists, leaders, and high society, yet mutants are the secret leaders working to protect and serve their kind. Behind the scenes they bring their goals into reality.
From the time when mutants became known to the world, SUPER was founded as a black-ops division of the CIA in an attempt to classify, observe, and learn more about this new and rising threat.
The Syndicate works to help bring mutantkind to the forefront of the world. They work from the shadows, a beacon of hope for mutants, but a bane to mankind. With their guiding hand, humanity will finally find extinction.
Since the existence of mutants was first revealed in the nineties, the world has become a changed place. Whether they're genetic misfits or the next stage in humanity's evolution, there's no denying their growing numbers, especially in hubs like New York City. The NYPD has a division devoted to mutant related crimes. Super-powered vigilantes help to maintain the peace. Those who style themselves as Homo Superior work to tear society apart for rebuilding in their own image.

You know, she really wasn't sure what had drawn her back to the school. She was failing pretty much all of her tests, couldn't find any trace of Sam, and wasn't a super big fan of crowds. Oh, no wait, she knew exactly what had drawn her back in. A pair of kind blue eyes and a million watt smile, that both belonged to her Best Friend who had definitely Friend zoned her. That's who.
Thankfully, much to said friends chagrin, she had managed to sneak off from her classes to loiter around the halls instead. Maybe find more dirty books in the library, or try and catch the illusive Ice Man in his man cave again.
It wasn't like the school was bad or anything... the teachers were nice, if a bit scary sometimes, and the kids all seemed mostly down to earth. Sure, there were younger kids who tried to bully her. She'd found loads of things written on paper and stuffed into the locker she used from edgy teens who didn't like that she hung around with X, or that she'd had relations with some of the popular guys her age, or... heh, above her age. It was laughable, funny even, and she had really enjoyed watching a few kids go red in the face from anger when their tween insults didn't damage her ego or make her cry.
Really, they were going to have to try harder than that.
Wandering down one particular hall that was thankfully empty, she vaguely noticed that she had lost her shoes at some point while walking and huffed in agitation. Replacing the damn things was quickly eating a hole in her finances. At least she could try to look on the upside of it though. She had just painted her toenails the week before and currently there were little cartoon starfish grinning dopeily up at her. She'd managed to keep the polish on through a weeks worth of phasing! Progress!
She never stopped to consider how a 19 year old girl, stopped in the middle of a hallway with her hands in the pockets of her high-waist jeans, wearing a t-shirt that did absolutely nothing for the figure she didn't want people looking at anyway, while grinning down at her own wiggling toes... might be considered to outside eyes.

As she often did Himari found herself rather bored. She had only one non related friend to speak of in her months at the Mansion, but found her sister was often off exploring doing her own thing which was acceptable of course, and her other friend was more of an insane crush that took every scrap of her social energies to not feel like she was going off the rails and screw something up. Most of the classes also didn't interest her, but instead of making a ruckus she found herself napping or when she wasn't tired just not going all together. Her time in America was supposed to be a punishment it didn't mean she had to endure the hell of boredom.
She had managed to do a round of bully hunt, but enough of the same types of people recognized her that they scattered as soon as they caught sight of her pink hair. So she found a nice quiet hallway. Made her way to the ceiling and sat cross-legged upside down in a nice comfy corner then closed her eyes to meditate and focus on keeping her powers up at the same time. Time being subjective it as moments later when she heard someone's bare feet walking along the floor. That was curious enough it itself so she perked her eyes open and glanced 'up' at the blonde who was staring at her own feet.
Curiosity being the bane of animal in everywhere she maneuvered quietly over the person and let her power go for a moment so gravity affected her for a bare moment leaving her looking only semi affected but frozen by gravity leaving her quiet modest despite her usual skirts and shirts attire. That left her face about equal to Junipers and over her shoulder she too looked at the floor.. then the woman's toes and the goofy starfish painted on them. A big grin plastered on her face that matched the starfish before giggling. "Cute, though I don't think I have ever tried painting my toenails." Which struck her as a bit odd now that she thought about it. Not that she bothered to paint her fingernails much either. Paint tended to flake when you punched people hard as she did.
As far as the girl was concerned Himari figured she would be cool with her being upside down looking at her toes or run off surprised. Either worked for her honestly.
A voice appeared suddenly, from the air literally above her, and she was indeed surprised. Only... it was less 'eek' and jumper surprised, and more of her whole body inadvertently clenching, and her pants accidentally being phased off.
She let out a bark of curse words, scrambling for her pants, and then hopped around goofily for a moment while getting them back on. "Christ! Where'd you come from!?"
There was a pink-haired, fairly muscular girl suspended from the ceiling like a demon, grinning down at her. She held onto her clothes for a moment lest anyone else try and spooks her suddenly.
"Never painted them? You should try it. Normally it's like, once and done for normal people." She paused and looked down. The paint on one of her nails had phased off.
"....or at least for most people other than me."
Heaving a sigh and deciding to ignore it, she turned her attention back to the new girl. She was taller, well build, had a mischievous smile. Overall, she looked like fun!

Of all the possibilities she had envisioned not a single one involved Junipers pants coming off. A rosy colored appeared on her cheeks, but didn't look entirely away. There was that one lizard that detached its tails so it could scurry off, maybe the woman was using it as a distraction to sucker punch her in the face?!
Nope definitely not, she noted as the Juniper hopped about wrangling her jeans back on. Himari remembered something her Grandfather said about things only being awkward if you acted like it was. So she just stood suspended from the ceiling and waited for the girl to put herself back together. Himari gave the girl credit she hadn't run off. So she let the blurry two dimensional outline around her body go and twisted in the air to land on her feet in front of juniper in a graceful if a bit practiced maneuver. Then gestured to the ceiling in a smart ass response to her question.
"Hmm I don't know. No One would really ever see them, but maybe my sister. Not sure how well it would hold up after kicking someone in the face either. So it might be just a waste." Looking down at her stocking covered legs a moment before shrugging and looking back to Juniper, her broad grin still firmly placed on her face and the rosy color slowly fading.
"You must be pretty good at it if you have to do it all the time so that is something right?" Giving Juniper a distinctive once over before responding further. "Yes, but only if your not a, believe the word is, narc. Otherwise I will have to punch and or outrun you. Fair warning." Her broad grid widening just a bit as she figured Juniper wasn't really either. What teacher or narc walked around barefoot? Unless they had some strange trmorsensing power that required their shoes to be off.
"Your plan to just ditch and stare at your feet the whole time?" Somehow managing to sound completely non judgemental. People had their own methods of deep thinking.
She looked up at the ceiling like an answer would be waiting, and when none was found shrugged and moved past it. Getting used to all of the whacky powers of people had in the school would take time.
She did blink at the kicking comment though What was it with everyone being super into-... Actually, no... No, that fit just fine with the number of insane criminals in the city. Everyone should learn how to kick someone's head off purely for protective reasons. Juniper gestured at herself at the narc comment, genuinely surprised
"... Ah, you must be new if you haven't heard about my jet antics yet. If you had you would know I'm incapable of being a narc as I have been blacklisted in quite a few teachers books, im sure."
Was she bragging? Probably. She thought it was funny.
Back to her toes, though. " Oh... I wasn't paying attention and I walked out of them somewhere. I just noticed a second ago, before you spooked the pants off me. I was just wandering before that."

It always amusing to Himari to see people reactions when you stated you could protect yourself. Ranging from 'let the cops handle it' to 'oh yeah want to fight?' Personally she would have preferred much more of the latter. More people were interested in robbery then fighting and that was just a boring way to live in her opinion.
At the gesture Himari looked over the woman again and her eyebrows narrowed a bit as she tried to think if she had heard about anyone who had a jet. "You know that stuffy princess too? How did you get a jet out of her? No I have not heard of you. Don't take offense to that though. I tend to keep to myself mostly, most people around here aren't worth listening too." Politely deciding not to comment on the teacher's who were probably just doing their job, instead. "They are probably less then happy with how I tend to nap in most of mine. Not my fault the sun comes in through the windows just right is it?"
Glancing to her feet then back up at her she ended up giggling and turning into a full blown laugh for a moment. "Never scared the literal pants off of anyone. That will be a good story to tell." Purple eyes quickly scanning the floor for the missing pieces. "You often leave bits just.. laying around?" Clearly misunderstanding somewhat. What was it with people and leaving bits of their mutation laying about?!
"Eh, its a building. Pretty boring place to wander, unless you were going somewhere interesting? Prefer to be outside, but it gets much colder here then where I lived in Japan. You from around here?" Relaxing a bit at the almost sad prospect of not having a fight, taking a moment to brush off her backside that had been sitting on the ceiling.
"The princess? Oh, no... I don't have a jet or anything. I... Uh... borrowed the one the school has. For... Reasons." She blinked, unsure how much she was allowed to say. "Though the princess was there. Super hot, that one."
"And no offense taken. A lot of people know, a lot don't. I tend to keep to myself too. Not much of a social butterfly."
Juniper chuckled slightly, scratching a cheek with her fingers. "Not usually, but I'm not really used to being around people this much so... It's a lot harder to concentrate lately."
She shrugged, and her interest in the conversation peaked a little at the mention of Japan. Somewhere she'd never even thought of going!
"Oh, neat. What's it like there? In from Ohio, which... Is literally so boring it's like mentioning that I came from a pile of dirt." Which was painfully accurate, actually. "I hadn't really picked a place to go yet, I was gonna just go, ya know? Though.. I mean, there's like, the danger room and stuff. Or Sam's man cave bar."
She pondered it for a moment, then shrugged again. "Anyway... I'm Juniper. What's your name?"

Oh so not jet the gemstone, but as in a real flying one. One that she had borrowed for her own reasons and more importantly the fact it belonged to the school and the blonde hadn't been expelled was an impressive feat. "Flying is interesting." Not mentioning her own involvement in stealing a jet. What a strange thing to be kindred spirits about.
"It appears as though our situation and thoughts are the same." Though in her case it was more finding people boring or uninteresting then the inability to concentrate. What was there to concentrate on when you were sleeping?
She took a second to consider Juniper's question before answering. "I lived on one of the southern islands so the climate was warm, warm enough to grow citrus fruits in fact. It is hard to describe quickly. Lots of culture." Her grin managing somehow to grow at the thought of Ohio. "Well if it is basically nothing but dirt as you say then you should feel at home anywhere there is dirt." Which was everywhere, she thought the statement was quite clever off the cuff as it was. Nodding in some understanding at wanting to go anywhere besides class. Not to mention the Kitsune tendency to get more than a bit of wanderlust.
"A man cave bar?" Clearly confused, but she had heard of the danger room at least. She wouldn't mind being able to go into the place to train, but that would require showing interest and giving the teachers power of her in the smallest degree and she didn't feel like giving them the satisfaction of that!
At the introduction she bowed and introduced herself in turn. "Himari, nice to meet you, and your starfish friends." Glancing about a moment before gesturing they should move. "Better move before some whiner catches us and runs to a teacher for.. brownie points?" Looking over at Juniper with an inquisitive expression plastered on her emotive face to see if she used the turn of phrase correctly.
"I'm pretty meh about it honestly. I like my feet on the ground."
She leaned in slightly as Himari talked about where she was from. Warm and with lots of fruit? Sounded good to her. "That sounds neat." She promptly snorted at the girl's next comment.
"I basically do." She replied back, amused at the idea of all the dirt everywhere being home for her. She was sure her mother would be quick to agree.
"A man cave bar. Don't ask me how or why, I just know it exists."
And then, after an introduction, they were on the move again. "Sure." Himari aimed an expression at her that he didn't quite get the meaning of, so she mirrored it right back.
"Yes. Let us move before the narks find us. Where you wanna go?" Juniper tucked her hands in her pockets and got to walking, still trying to figure out for herself what she had been planning on doing before Himari showed up.
"I had thought about breaking into a couple of people's rooms to like, I dunno, move their furniture around or something. For being turds." She shrugged. "Not much else to do around here unless you're into the training or a super nerd."

Himari was exactly the sort of person to ask more about about how and why she knew about some secret man cave bar. Did the students have some secret underground club? Well now she was just.. miffed she wasn't invited. Maybe it was some exclusive place only the popular kids went. That sort of excluded students who punched bullies. Strangely enough some bullies were extra popular. Just goes to show how cracked the universe really was.
Was her new acquaintance just in the know or popular? Whelp she wasn't a nark whatever that was and it seems good. Oh that was a nice idea.. "Define.. turds? I am certainly able to help with that.. oh! I could nail the furniture to the ceiling! If they actually deserve it of course. If I am going to get in trouble for something I want it to be worth it." Grinning at her new companion and clearly no stranger to being in trouble in one form or another.
"The training? I mean I train for myself.. is that what you mean?" Holding up an arm and flexing a bit then looking at Juniper curiously.
Juniper blinked. "Oh, uh... douches? Jerks? Asshats?" Was that good enough? She hoped so.
"I won't need any nails. Or, we won't I guess. I'll just fuse them to the ceiling." Then again, if Himari was gonna help she supposed they would need something for her to do. "Though, like, we can stop and get some stuff if you want. Don't wanna leave you out if you're into helping."
She glanced back at the comment about training. Holy #$%& Himari was ripped! That was honestly impressive, considering the skinny little arms Juniper had. "Woah, neat. Nice definition." That... was something buff people said, right?
"I mostly meant like, the X-man stuff. I feel like a lot of kids come here for it." She shrugged slightly, "Not me so much, but I have a friend who's super into it as well as like, working out and stuff."

English derogatives were not her strong suit and by golly there sure seemed to be quite a few! Instead of pretending ignorance she gave a little shrug, she had stated she was from Japan afterall.
"These people deserve it right and it isn't some personal... grudge?" Eying her friend with a bit of suspicion, personal vendettas were always a terrible way to go. It was so easy to get the blame traced back to you. Instead it was far more fun to exact revenge on someone else behalf.. like that jerk Scotty something, Summers. Ugh she was awful with names.
"Fuse things? Oh! We could borrow some glitter from the arts and crafts department and I could put in on the floor and you could make it so when they go to get the furniture down they get doused with some too!" An evil little giggle leaving her lips. Glitter was universally awful. "Do you know where Scotty Summers room is? He... was ogling girls and flexing like a moron at a football game the other day, or so I have heard. American sports are.. not entertaining to me." More specifically her girl! Not that she was really the jealous type, but that was some really crude tactics.
A little blush tainted her cheeks at the compliment. "Arigato uh thanks." Was someone bad at taking compliments? Yes yes they were.
"Oh that.. no me and my sister were sent here for other reasons." A trace of bitterness in her tone until she shifted the subject back to Juniper. "What is it you do for fun? Maybe when we are done you can show me how to do the toe paintings?" The latter requested almost shyly, she really didn't know how this whole friends and female bonding thing went. In Japan if you had weird hair everyone thought you were some yakuza girl and looking to get the wrong sort of attention. That didn't seem to be a problem in the US or more specifically the mansion that was for sure!
The slightly alarmed side-eye Juniper sent Himari's way was almost comical, and she laughed a tad bit nervously. "Uh.. eheh, I supposed that would be up to your definition of what, like, "deserves it" means."
She rubbed the back of her head and sighed. "I do know where the d*cks room is, and if he qualifies as someone who deserves punishment, then the others would too. So, yay!" She'd met that ass a few weeks into starting school, hooked up with him, and he just refused to be chill about it. Like, holy @#$% dude, it was just a fling. Get over it.
"They're not that interesting to me, either. Never really had a chance to get into them when I was younger." She shrugged but tried to turn the conversation back around to the revenge bits.
"I never thought about glitter! That is an AMAZING idea. It'd take weeks to get it all out." She giggled, almost manically, and rubbed her hands together. "I wonder if Mrs. Grey would have some for the younger kids..."
What did she do for fun? ... Not much that was legal, or allowed on school grounds. "Lots of stuff, but nothing really definitive. I just do whatever I feel like, mostly."
Juniper blinked when the girl asked her if she could teach her to paint her toenails too, and... had immediate flashbacks to Bambi. Big ole' doe eyes, too wholesome for this world personality.
"I..uh." She faltered lamely, "Sure, I guess. I'm not super good at it yet. These ones were little stencil things that you paint over. I wasn't allowed to be too girly when I was a kid." She rubbed the back of her head, "But I wouldn't mind learning with someone else."

Well if the rest of the targets were people who made girls uncomfortable with their posturing despite being sent clear signals that they weren't interested. Himari was doing the work of the gods and ancestors in her opinion. Giving people their just deserts completely guilt free was so very therapeutic.
There wasn't really much she could say in the attitude of sports.. most of the 'girl appropriate' ones didn't seem like her sort of thing. Volleyball? Yeah not getting into those skimpy booty shorts. Tennis? Chasing a ball around seemed a bit too much like a sport for dogs and therefore immediately disregarded. She would stick to her martial arts and underground fighting thanks.
At her great suggestion she grinned brilliantly. "I am convinced Yokai invented glitter to give clean freaks heart attacks." She thought a moment and added. "Oh! I think they keep the big bulk sizes in a supply closet and put them into smaller containers so they don't make a huge mess if they spill."
Himari looked a bit disappointed though when her new friend that was a girl was rather uninsightful as to what she did for fun. Maybe she needed to find some esoteric hobby to connect with people over.. something that wasn't terribly expensive too. "Ah ok." Managing to keep most of the disappointment out of her voice.
"That'd be the best yanno?! I wasn't allowed to do anything girly at all... but we can learn together that wouldbesogreat!" Starting off sounding sort of depressed before flipping it on its head and bouncing on her toes happily as they continued on towards the supply closet. "Oh maybe dark blue with kawaii smiley sun faces on the big toes." With her hair she felt like she had more than enough pink! It also explained why her ribbons were black. Contrast was beautiful.
Himari got them to the supply closet near the art rooms and looked around a bit before trying the door. "Fish guts, it's locked." Looking to Juniper for guidance.
There... were words in there that she had never heard before. Juniper tried to keep the panic off her face while mentally scrambling for what 'Yok-eye' was... Was...was that Chinese? Korean? Oh, @#$%, maybe her mom's Racist tendencies had rubbed off on her after all? @#$%&%!!
"...Is... is that a person? Yolkeye? Sorry, when I said I came from a dirt city I meant it. I'm not super familiar with other languages. My city had like, 200 people in it." Was it rude to google this???
Himari's excitement was off the charts all of the sudden and palpable, as well as infectious. It was endearing. "That sounds like fun. I've got a set back home I can bring to school sometimes. Next time we skip together we'll consider it a Mani Pedi date." What the every loving fluff did 'Coweyeiii' mean?!
They ended up at the closet and Himari seemed stumped. Juniper shrugged, stepped to the side, and leaned in through the door to see what was on the other side.
A very muffled "Found it!" could be heard from the other side, and she carefully came back out. It looked like she was concentrating on everything she had until she all but shoved the large jar of purple glitter at Himari.
"Whew! That was... a lot of phasing. Never let me do that again."
She took a moment to lean on her knees until her eyes didn't feel like crossing anymore.
