Something wicked this way comes…New York has finally started settling down after the de-aging epidemic and life has seemingly returned to normal Unfortunately, any New York native knows by now that there is no normal. Everyone anticipates the next bout of mutant weirdness to hit their lives. But sometimes, mutants aren’t the cause. Sometimes, it’s something… stranger. September 2nd: A Full Moon. (Specifically, the Harvest Moon.) People are going about their days, but with a Full Moon comes a series of weird and unexplainable phenomena. All over the city, small areas are hit with bizarre circumstances, but the problem: the person or people causing them are not mutants. Thread Call-Out! Your characters are in some public or private place when one of these Harvest Moon Events occur. You can propose your own premise, but they should be one of six styles: - Someone, something, or a group is “charmed” or “hexed,” changing properties. (A zoo of animals growing three times in size and enraged, a daycare of invisible babies, a cornfield maze that overgrows with new walls growing and receding.)
- Things being teleported around or beings that are summoned. (A hotel chase where the doors lead to the wrong places, a card game tournament where the monsters are summoned for real.) (I MAY be using that last one…)
- Weirdness offering glimpses into the future. (Mysterious fortune teller gives you an oddly specific and bizarre telling, a party where people start experiencing potential futures before things reset to an earlier point.)
- Destructive energies or, conversely, bizarre healing auras. (A building fire that seems to have a mind of its own, an underground fight club where everyone seems to suddenly have excessive regeneration.)
- Mass illusions, which can be visual, audible, olfactible. It can even affect textures, though not just create physical masses out of nowhere. (Haunted house with much more authentic scares, illusionary alien invasion causes mass panic.)
- Body manipulation or alteration affects, up to and including corpses. (An animal activist protest turns everyone in the area into anthropomorphic animal folk, bodies in the morgue start shambling around the nearby area, a criminal starts hulking out mid bank robbery escape, a party with temporary mass genderbending.)
An individual could be causing your particular issue, or it could just be caused by the area itself and the goal is just to escape or even subdue the victim of whatever weird effect you are dealing with.
