Liz had to smile at Aoi’s dash of precociousness. “That will serve you well in life,” she said, in the same tone one uses when amused by what kids say but treating it seriously without giving any clue that what they think is so important or edgy just...isn’t. But still, Liz was looking forward to having the girl in class.
Liz enjoyed a natural smile as Aoi gave her an overview of Japan. It did sound fun indeed. Even if the viewpoint was distinctly a teenager’s. Shoes and cleanliness, public transportation, a glimpse of what school was like, pretty trees, DDRs. Even if the girl’s final remarks were a bit bittersweet.
“Well it sounds like you’re adjusting pretty well over here,” Liz said firmly. “Of course, living in a mansion probably helps!” Liz let out a chuckle. Even if the mansion really did come off as a dormitory and boarding school at times, it was still luxurious and fancy. It had certainly been a highlight of her teen years.
Liz glanced over at the clock on the wall. My, the time sure passed quickly. “Well, Aoi,” she began. “I don’t want to keep you all day. I’m sure there are still many things you’ve got planned for the day, all more exciting than spending it with your teacher.” Liz started to pull herself out of her desk. “Thank you again for meeting with me - you’ve given me a lot to think about and have helped me get a better feel for what I’m getting into.” She fixed the girl with a bright smile.
