The X-men run missions and work together with the NYPD, striving to maintain a peaceful balance between humans and mutants. When it comes to a fight, they won't back down from protecting those who need their help.
Haven presents itself as a humanitarian organization for activists, leaders, and high society, yet mutants are the secret leaders working to protect and serve their kind. Behind the scenes they bring their goals into reality.
From the time when mutants became known to the world, SUPER was founded as a black-ops division of the CIA in an attempt to classify, observe, and learn more about this new and rising threat.
The Syndicate works to help bring mutantkind to the forefront of the world. They work from the shadows, a beacon of hope for mutants, but a bane to mankind. With their guiding hand, humanity will finally find extinction.
Since the existence of mutants was first revealed in the nineties, the world has become a changed place. Whether they're genetic misfits or the next stage in humanity's evolution, there's no denying their growing numbers, especially in hubs like New York City. The NYPD has a division devoted to mutant related crimes. Super-powered vigilantes help to maintain the peace. Those who style themselves as Homo Superior work to tear society apart for rebuilding in their own image.

Well, that was not much to go on. Gawain made a mental note to look into it anyway.
>>"But i'm not from here. I'm from backwater Oregon. I had a life and friends and a fiance..."
"I'm sorry a what now?" Gawain's eyebrows shot up "How old are you again?"
Geez. Kids these days.
>>"... and I wasn't a mutant, either. This is all so... new, and strange. I just wanna go home."
Gawain sighed. She did not only end up in a stranger place and a strange life, she didn't even know about her mutation yet. This... was going to be a very steep learning curve.
>>"I don't even know where the older version of me lived because she didn't seem to want to update her ID card for some reason, and her stupid phone-- If you were friends with her... maybe you could make some sense of her phone? There were names and numbers in there but most of them were disconnected. A few addresses that didn't lead anywhere livable..."
"Yeah, she was kind of private about that." they had lost touch a while ago. Honestly, Gawain had no idea where Megan lived these days.
>>"Now that I think about it, I think there was a name in here that sounded like yours."
Gawain blinked at the name and a picture. It took him a moment before he grinned.
"Yeah, that's me." long time, no see, Girl Scout "Well, until we figure things out, you are welcome to stay here. You'd lived here before, and we have files on your powers and stuff, which might be useful... you know you deal with spiders, right?"
She sighed. She'd heard that tone before. "I'm 16, and my parents consented... not that it matters much now."
The teen pouted at the phone, scrolling through more numbers she didn't recognize. "I guess that's better than the dinky little motel I've been in since I woke up here. Either this, or go home to Oregon and see what might still be there for me." She wasn't sure about that idea though... what if everything was gone? Parents left, or... dead? Siblings to the wind. She sighed.
"Thank you."
She glanced away from the phone when he brought up her powers. "I figured, a little... a few of them had been following me around since I woke up. I didn't know I could make them until the other day, when-- er... I don't wanna talk about it." Hadn't been the most pleasant discovery ever. Still got the creepy crawlies, too. "... then there's the vision thing. I haven't gotten the hang of that yet though."
>>"I guess that's better than the dinky little motel I've been in since I woke up here. Either this, or go home to Oregon and see what might still be there for me. Thank you."
"No problem. We'll find you an empty room." Gawain smirked. He was living with Becca now, and besides, Megan had made it pretty clear what she thought about roommates.
>>"I figured, a little... a few of them had been following me around since I woke up. I didn't know I could make them until the other day, when-- er... I don't wanna talk about it... then there's the vision thing. I haven't gotten the hang of that yet though."
"You'll figure it out. We probably still have some files on your powers somewhere, I can dig those up if they might help. So... have you heard about Xavier's before at all?..."
She stuffed the phone away finally and looked at Gawain, her...friend? This was gonna be weird.
"I heard about it a long time ago from my then fiance. He had been interested in going to try out for the x's at one point." From what she could recall he'd been pretty pumped about it for a few years, too... and then just gave up on the idea one day.
"He could vibrate himself to a crazy degree. Like, enough to disintegrate walls and stuff." But that was neither here nor there, really.
"I didn't get a lot of snooping done before you found me, so I think I only know the basics. There are x-men here, and classes, and students who live her-"
She paused, looking suddenly horrified. "Oh no, did I ever finish school?! Gawain, was I dumb as an adult?!"
Her education was part of her pride, honestly. If she couldn't be smarter and more attractive than everyone else then what good was she?
>>"I heard about it a long time ago from my then fiance. He had been interested in going to try out for the x's at one point. He could vibrate himself to a crazy degree. Like, enough to disintegrate walls and stuff."
Mirror blinked once, slowly, biting his tongue. Girl was sixteen and she was gonna marry a human vibrator. Gawain wondered if he had ever been a teenager like that. And if he had, what the hell happened in between?
>>"I didn't get a lot of snooping done before you found me, so I think I only know the basics. There are x-men here, and classes, and students who live her- Oh no, did I ever finish school?! Gawain, was I dumb as an adult?!"
Gawain snorted at the sudden change of topic.
"No, the Megan I knew was dangerously smart. Also a pain in the ass, but that's beside the point. So... you know about the X-men them? I'm one of them. You're also gonna meet others, some knew you... before. Shall we go find you a room? Do you have any other questions?"
"Well that at least sounds like me. Especially the pain in the ass part. Not the first time i've been called that." Oh good. She's at least been intelligent, or at least smart enough to look intelligent. That settled her nerves a bit.
"Oh wow, really? That's pretty cool I guess. I never, uh, paid much attention to all the fuss about the X's before." She blushed slightly, embarrassed with her lack of knowledge. The idea that other X-men knew of her from before was... strange. Meeting people who you didn't know, who seemed to know you was waaay to weird. She shifted awkwardly on the bed.
"Yeah, i'd like that. I've been using the credit cards I found on me to pay for things, so it'd be nice not, like, stealing from myself anymore?" @#$%, this was weird. She hopped up off the bed and brushed her dress-skirt smooth again.
Did she had any questions? A million of them still. She didn't want to pester him too much seeing as he had been pretty patient with her so far, even with her escape attempt.
"People can help me with figuring out my powers here, right? Since I woke up I've run into a lot of issues with... them. I think." Unless the stomach thing was from her being genuinely sick. That would suck, though.
