The X-men run missions and work together with the NYPD, striving to maintain a peaceful balance between humans and mutants. When it comes to a fight, they won't back down from protecting those who need their help.
Haven presents itself as a humanitarian organization for activists, leaders, and high society, yet mutants are the secret leaders working to protect and serve their kind. Behind the scenes they bring their goals into reality.
From the time when mutants became known to the world, SUPER was founded as a black-ops division of the CIA in an attempt to classify, observe, and learn more about this new and rising threat.
The Syndicate works to help bring mutantkind to the forefront of the world. They work from the shadows, a beacon of hope for mutants, but a bane to mankind. With their guiding hand, humanity will finally find extinction.
Since the existence of mutants was first revealed in the nineties, the world has become a changed place. Whether they're genetic misfits or the next stage in humanity's evolution, there's no denying their growing numbers, especially in hubs like New York City. The NYPD has a division devoted to mutant related crimes. Super-powered vigilantes help to maintain the peace. Those who style themselves as Homo Superior work to tear society apart for rebuilding in their own image.

[ Atlantis ]
Litan huffed heavily, bringing his feet to a halt from their swinging on his chair. The book - an older thing, a study on how the field had progressed since before Atlantis had been sunk that cut off several ago, and easily pilfered from an inattentive book-sellers trash - was practically flung onto the seat beside him, a long curved arm which had been holding it open slamming it shut in an impressively loud noise to anyone who could hear properly, and a brief moment of satisfaction from the boy, at being able to hear it at all.
He stood, moving far too fluidly for anyone with a strict form to how their body had to work, and started pacing up and down the large room that made the largest part of the shelter, as well as their reception.
Without a clear thought or intent behind it, another arm grabbed up the book again as he moved, running over the cover of it, fiddling with flicking through the pages, seeing where they naturally paused, whether the sections between those natural pauses were all even or not...
The other three arms twisted as a mass behind him. Even looking so inhuman as they did, the impatience was obvious and would be easily read and picked up on by anyone who even bothered to send a glance his way. His hands - his actual hands, on the two human-looking arms he had - twisted together, then switched to fiddling with his shirt (a new discovery copied from the surface dwellers), then back to each other, then one went to his hair, to brush a tiny strand out of the way of his face... and back to each other.
He'd actually put in some effort today. He'd found a bit of hair that had been standing up nearly vertical, and batted it back down into place. One of the staff (was that the right word?) had suggested that he should brush it, and a comb had touched it. Litan was really going out of his way to give a good impression in his appearance.
He'd been pacing for what felt like a very long time before he finally paused, still fiddling, and turned to the adult on duty. "Ow puch longer? They're peant to pe 'ere alreaty, right? They're late."
The adult looked up at him, unimpressed.
>> "It's been 15 minutes', Litan. They're still not late."
Lit stared for a few seconds as he deciphered the lip movements, and filled in the words he'd missed. Behind him, his arms were reaching out, looking for more things to interact with and finding nothing but air.
"You're sure?"
Lit got the usual disapproving look he got when he questioned other people's perceptions of time. He stepped over to where the adult was, getting very close to the adult to look at the tiny time-piece he had on his wrist. He'd been expecting that to be a lie, really. Not only had he not uncovered a lie, but he'd earned an even more disapproving look.
"Paybe they're close." He said, moving away from the adult again, and out to the doorway of the shelter, looking this way and that for any sign of the adults who were meant to be coming.
There was something said behind him, and Lit was vaguely aware of the noise of it, but couldn't distinguish anything about it other than the exasperated tone, and the way it trailed off.
Lit's arms twitched, meeting the sides of the doorway as he looked around for any signs of the X-Men. He wasn't nervous about them not coming, not at all. It was the raw anticipation of meeting the X-Men that was making him so impatient, and causing the manic smile on his face.
Thank you for the artwork, Mouse!! Genuinely wasn't expecting anything like that from the qs earlier, and it's amazing!
Parking the X-Jet on Atlantis was definitely getting easier ever since the X-men had permission to do so. Every once in a while they ran missions to the island kingdom, just to pick up mutant kids who wanted to transfer to Xavier's (or bring back the ones that decided to go home). Mirror enjoyed these trips; it felt good to look in on how Atlantis was doing, and it was also always fun to meet new kids, and bring them to the school. Some of them were scared, and many were curious, and quite a few were a pain in the ass. Still, it was one of the best jobs the X-men had to do recently.
As the Jet landed, Maya turned off the engines and the flight systems, and turned in her seat to grin at Becca.
"Here we go again. Let's go meet our new kid, shall we?"
As self-appointed den mothers, Becca and Mirror had been doing a lot of the Atlantis runs. This latest one came with a set of directions to find the shelter where their new student awaited. They couldn't get very close to it on the Jet, but Mirror could easily make up the distance in a few jumps through reflecting surfaces - even though they were far between in these neighborhoods, she knew this back from her days finding Kalos. The building looked run down, but it was not hard to make out the shape of one very excited-looking teenager in the doorway.
"Hey there!" Maya waved a hand with a smile "Waiting for a pickup to Xavier's?"

Back on the X-Jet and back on the way to Atlantis! Becca and Maya were not the only X-Men to take diplomatic trips to the island nation, nor were they the only ones to pick up willing new students. They were the two who seemed most eager to volunteer when the opportunity came up. It was exciting getting fresh blood at the Mansion, and with the climate of Atlantis still making things hard on Gorgon youth, they wanted everyone with the desire to start a new life to get that chance.
She could feel the enthusiasm in Maya’s gorgeous grin as the jet touched down. They were not elders on the X-Team, but they were growing to love their roles as den mothers (or parents on Gawain days.) ”Cannae wait. Efter ye, hun.”
Dating Mirror meant getting accustomed to mirror travel. It was disorienting when they first met, but now she let Maya take her along for the ride until they reached a new student. She smiled warmly at the octolad. ”If ye are, Ah think we’ve got plenty ay room in th’ jet, richt Maya?”

Lit's eyes widened as he saw the adults appearing down the pathway. He'd not seen any ability like that before! He'd seen teleporters but... that was very smooth.
It wasn't patience that kept Litan in place as he watched the adults, but curiosity and anticipation. Two demigods and neither of them were reacting to his obviously gorgon nature. No squirming or flinching, no pulling away, and... most alien to him of all, no avoiding his eyes. Just adults, looking at him like he was a good demigod kid.
He was probably having a harder time looking them square in the eyes, than the other way. Even a few months was plenty of time to have learned the way that gorgons got looked at, and to have grown to expect it, and expect judgement from demigods.
His arms were definitely squirming against the material as they got closer, fidgeting excitably. He felt the urge for them to walk just a little faster towards the shelter, and it probably showed.
As they spoke, Lit's eyes dropped down to their mouths to watch, and he took a few moments more than usual to process what they were saying. He wasn't entirely sure he'd understood independently, but context did a lot here. Random strangers out of context were never going to be understood.
>> "Hey there!" Maya waved a hand with a smile "Waiting for a pickup to Xavier's?"
"'ey! Yeah, I'm wanting to go to... Egz-ay-fee-yas."
The ginger woman was harder to understand, but within the scale of already having to lip-read complete strangers, the difference wasn't too significant. In his processing time, he stepped out of the doorway, getting very close to where the adults were.
>> ”If ye are, Ah think we’ve got plenty ay room in th’ jet, richt Maya?”
"What's a "chet"?"
There were other questions about what she'd said but that was one of only two words that he was sure he'd never encountered before, and "Mair" was the name of the other person, clearly.
His arms - the octopus ones - curled, one on each side reaching up to physically greet the two women properly for a moment, but Lit grew aware of them as they entered the field of his better vision, and averted their courses down, aiming for grabbing their hands to bring them further back to the shelter.
"I ton't 'ave puch to take. Pooks and stuff. It'll pe quick."
He probably had enough arms to hold it all himself, without any help needed, but he'd rather have the time with the new people there.
Thank you for the artwork, Mouse!! Genuinely wasn't expecting anything like that from the qs earlier, and it's amazing!
The kid looked more than a little excited. It was always good to see them in those early days, when they still felt like school was the collest thing ever, and they were not whining about homework and early classes.
>>"'ey! Yeah, I'm wanting to go to... Egz-ay-fee-yas."
>> ”If ye are, Ah think we’ve got plenty ay room in th’ jet, richt Maya?”
Maya smiled and nodded. They didn't have any other pickup scheduled for the day, so unless another gorgon kid jumped out of somewhere and wanted to tag along, there was going to be just be the three of them on board.
>>"What's a "chet"?"
Maya tilted her head as she looked at the boy. Sure, he had an accent, many Atlanteans did, but something about how he watched them intently when they talked, mixed with his pronunciation, hinted at him maybe having a hearing problem. Before she could ask, however, tentacles reached out to take both of them by the hand and pull them into the building in a friendly and excitable manner.
Octopus physiology. Fascinating.
>>"I ton't 'ave puch to take. Pooks and stuff. It'll pe quick."
"Sure" Maya followed with a chuckle. She waited until the guy turned to them again before she spoke, tapping her finger to her chin. "Are you reading our lips?... What's your name?"

Whenever they returned to Atlantis for a pickup, ninety-nine times out of a hundred, they were picking up a child who would be called a Gorgon there. “Demigod” children had fewer reasons to want to leave Atlantis, though it was not impossible for one to move for their own reasons now that the “borders” of Atlantis were eased a bit.
Knowing they would pick up a physical mutant, Becca always made it a point to not spend time marveling at the kid’s appearance. Physical mutants were special and amazing, but these Atlantean kids were used to being gawked at or treated like they were weird. Becca found the octopus physiology on display fascinating, but it did not reach her expression. She wanted to be welcoming to a young boy who was about to take a leap of faith in trusting the X-Men.
When the boy spoke, Becca had to listen clearly and fill in the gaps of words she was pretty he meant. This was karma, of course, and she was the first to understand how appreciated it was for someone to make the effort to understand through an accent.
Then again, when Maya picked up on the potential hearing issues this kid might have, Becca decided to make a conscious effort to speak in a clearer, more Americanized accent in hopes of keeping things easier. ”Mah name is Rebecca, and a jet is a flyin’ machine. One that will take ye to yer new home.”

Litan wasn't really paying any heed to the puzzled look on the adults' faces, and even if he were, he wouldn't really care. Puzzled was far better than judgemental and he was altogether too familiar with the latter one to want to fuss with the former. Mostly he was just grateful that these two demigods hadn't started glaring or making not-so-subtle digs at his appearance, and aware that this might well be the norm for him from now on. Back to how things had been as a kid. Excitement didn't have the time for tact.
Litan waved a few quick signs with his hands at the staff member who was still sitting in the corner (roughly amounting to "Look! They're here! I knew it was time already!"), not that they were being watched for, or would have been understood, as he lead the two women into the corner his things were stashed in. It wasn't much, and there wasn't much. A few clothes which could easily be collected within a blanket. A few stolen books, which all neatly stacked into his human arms, except, the... the maths book was missing.
Litan started scrabbling for just a second, turning his attention to seeing everywhere to see if that would help, and.... yes, yes it did, there it was, a little square shadow just behind him. The offending arm reached forward, adding it to the stack, over his shoulder.
A few random objects he'd collected since his secondary mutation had emerged, all prime material for fiddling with. He left the objects that had been broken beyond use thanks to his fiddling.
Satisfied he had everything important, he looked back up at the X-Men, eyes bright and wide. Or as wide as their shape allowed.
>> "Are you reading our lips?... What's your name?"
Lit frowned just slightly as he concentrated on what was said, standing up, checking for anything else he might have missed.
"I'p nod reading fem. I'p wadching fem." It wasn't intentional talking back. He just hadn't encountered the term before, and he knew well enough what action he was actually performing. "I'p Litan. Or Lit"
>> ”Mah name is Rebecca, and a jet is a flyin’ machine. One that will take ye to yer new home.”
He noticed the shift in accent from how the words formed, but it really didn't make much difference. He couldn't hear the accent shift, and it was easiest to work by learning how each individual spoke rather than how accents worked. There were always people who said words weirdly, or who stressed things strangely and so on, even if they otherwise had a fairly standard accent.
The moment Lit had finished working out what was said was probably obvious from his face (Ruhpekuh didn't make sense but names often didn't), and the shift in movement of the arms behind him. They could make machines fly. That was amazing! How in Oceanus did you make metal fly? Metal sunk - everyone knew that - and if it sunk in water, it would definitely sink in air. He scooted up closer to the adults again, almost closing off the gap entirely.
"Why's it callet a "chet"? 'Ow's id work? Can I see 'ow id works?"
Wait, there was a second thing, wasn't there? What was it? Oh! Home. Litan hoped this was going to be a good home. One people actually liked and got on with their family in, like other kids seemed to have. It had to be better than he had here, anyway. Better than he'd ever had here.
Thank you for the artwork, Mouse!! Genuinely wasn't expecting anything like that from the qs earlier, and it's amazing!
Working with kids who had unique powers was not all that different in mentality from working with kids with special needs. Maya didn't remember being informed that the student they were supposed to pick up had a hearing problem, but she was prepared to work with it.
"Nice to meet you, Lit" Maya smiled, pronouncing her words more clearly. Reading, watching. Same thing. Maybe the kid couldn't even read; this was Atlantis after all, and he was considered a gorgon... It was obvious that he was having a harder time with Becca's accent. Poor kid. Even people with excellent hearing had a hard time following her sometimes.
Lit grabbed his things; much like other gorgon kids, he didn't have much to bring along. He had books, though, and seemed super excited about leaving. Maya walked over to the adult behind the counter, inquiring if she needed to sign anything for picking up the student, but she was pretty much waved off. One free octopus boy, to a good home. Do better, Atlantis.
>>"Why's it callet a "chet"? 'Ow's id work? Can I see 'ow id works?"
"You will see in a minute" Maya smiled, nodding towards the door. She was not going to teleport them back, because she could only take people one at a time, and she didn't want to leave Lit alone, or expose him to mirror travel just yet. The Jet was not that far away anyway.
"You need help with that?" she offered, pointing at his bag of belongings.

There was definitely a culture shock for kids leaving Atlantis to come to America. Some aspects of it were dark and upsetting, but some things were just new experiences a teenager would go their whole life without down there. Becca and Gemma took time with some of the school children of the mansion to be respectful of that. She remembered learning how to adapt to American life, and she was not as dramatic a case of foreign exchange as these kids.
The boy, Lit, gathered together his things, utilizing all the limbs at his disposal to collect his belongings. He was clearly excited to get going, and the concept of a jet seemed equally exciting. The adult in charge, meanwhile, seemed disinterested by the whole affair. Becca wondered if she could talk to the queen about getting people with actual empathy in charge of a program for the lost children of Atlantis. The X-Men could not save them all.
But until then, they would try. ”Seems like ye’ve got yer hands pretty full,” Becca said in agreement when Maya offered help. ”How abit Ah grab these two heavy lookin’ books, an….”
Watching her hands as Becca accepted two of the boy’s books, she allowed the charges she could see in each hand slip into the books, applying a small magnetic charge to them. With that, she carefully let the books go, allowing them to hover along next to her. ”There,” she said, making sure to turn her face in his direction and speak clearly. ”Maybe that’ll lighten yer load a wee bit for the walk.”

>> "Nice to meet you, Lit"
"Nice do peet you too." He practically bounced as he said it. His response wasn't immediate, but it was a little faster, thanks to context and to having had a few more words to base off what the brunette might be saying.
Out of the blurry field of his vision, where it extended past his eyes he saw the brunette move over to sign him out of the shelter. Sort of. Nothing seemed to pass between the humanoid shapes, and it was hard to tell exactly what they were doing - at this distance, working out the relatively slow movements of arms was a hard in the blur. Vision didn't need to be very focused to sense the movements of someone who was disappointed though. Lit was pretty sure he hadn't done anything wrong yet, so that was probably at someone else, but people seemed to get annoyed at the weirdest things with him.
Lit twisted his head a little before he probably should have known to to look back at the brunette as she came back, studying her face again.
>> "You will see in a minute"
"Bud I'p curious now." He huffed, his voice coming out in a similar tone to a kid whining, doing absolutely nothing to hide the impatient itch he had. Which was impressive considering he'd never actually heard that tone before. The smile didn't do much to reduce the disappointed tone, but waiting a couple of seconds did, with his attention issues. Too much to focus on with two new people to keep attention on a disappointment that would be resolved before... hopefully too long.
>> "You need help with that?"
>> ”Seems like ye’ve got yer hands pretty full. How abit Ah grab these two heavy lookin’ books, an….”
Litan considered, and then nodded at the offers to help. His arms were quite literally sagging under the weight of his stuff as it was. It was... hard since his mutation had triggered to know how to handle weights, and to remember how his body was meant to act. Knowing how to act solid around weighty objects, rather than just sliding around them, was hard.
He passed over the two books in question and watched her carefully, casually consciously controlling his extra arms to move closer to give slightly more of a scope for watching properly.
>> ”There, maybe that’ll lighten yer load a wee bit for the walk.”
Lit stared at the floating books, trying to work out how they were floating, and eventually nodded as he hit upon the solution. He'd never seen this sort of power being used like that before, and so the conclusion he drew, was perfectly reasonable. From his perspective, it looked like Ruhpekuh had been trying to get something chaotic under control.
"You 'ave arms like me too, bud fey're infisiple." He wasn't especially proud of the deduction, just calmly accepting the now clear fact he'd deduced. The arms relaxed again, back to the little wiggles and twists that were their default. Litan turned to the brunette again. He mimed giving another book over, and twitched the closest extra arm to her."To you, too?"
Teenagers. Sometimes they were just like little kids, but hungrier. Maya chuckled and nodded to Lit to follow along. The Jet would only be a short walk away, and he did not have much luggage to carry. Becca offered to help with some books floating them and showing off her powers, which seemed to excite the octopus boy.
>>"You 'ave arms like me too, bud fey're infisiple. To you, too?"
Maya snorted at the conclusion, leaving it up to Becca to correct it or not. She just shook her head. "No, I just have these two" she held out her hands, taking over some of the books.
The walk to the Jet was fairly short, now that they had the books sorted out. It must have been an impressive sight, for someone seeing a flying machine for the first time. Mirror opened the doors remotely, and grinned at Lit.
"This is our ride back to New York. Go, take a look."

Rebecca tried not to treat the Atlantean children like a spectacle, but she did admire their curiosity and wonder. After being cut off from the world for so long, there were so many aspects of a globalized society that were new to the transfer students. The world was growing and changing at an ever-increasing rate, and as a Millenial in America, even Becca forgot that sometimes. It was humbling to see the world through someone else's eyes, and Lit was as curious as any kid she had known.
"Nae arms, actually," Becca clarified, walking backwards so her lips could be read. "Ah control magnetism, sae metals normally. Ah learned tae make things magnetic by toochin' them. Loch yer books!" It was becoming a very useful mutation, honestly. Becca had always complained that not enough things were made with magnetic metals, and now she could complain about that less.
Leading the way up the ramp to the jet that Lit was so excited about, Becca smiled. "Ah'm actually the English and Literature teacher at th' Mansion, sae if ye loch, Ah can gie ye tons ay books when you're aw moved in." The boy seemed to value his books, and reading was the easiest way to get Atlanteans into learning English.
Or, you know, Pokemon in Kalos's case. It was important to tailor lessons, after all.
Lit really didn't need the signal to follow after. Even if he weren't already organised to come with these adults, he'd be curious enough with what they'd said and could do to want to at least see.
>>> "No, I just have these two"
"Oh. So, whad do you do?"He wasn't disappointed at being wrong, and didn't sound it either. He sounded excited at having a new thing to learn and to see... because he was. And he wasn't offended at the snort at his conclusion because, well, he didn't hear it.
>> "Nae arms, actually, Ah control magnetism, sae metals normally. Ah learned tae make things magnetic by toochin' them. Loch yer books!"
"Yes, I gan see whad you're doing wif my boogs!"Lit smiled wide at hearing the explanation, loving hearing it and learning how it worked. He was grateful to her looking back at him directly. There was no way he would have understood that without her facing him directly. In return, even if he didn't mention, he was looking behind her, ready to say if she was about to bump into anything. Not that it was likely to be needed with the other adult. "To you bolarise all de metal..? Bud there's no medal in there. Unless? Were Leucippus ant Democridus righd aboud atoms? Are there liddle medal "atoms" in the books?"
Lit's eyes widened at the machine once he saw it.
"That's de chet?" Lit walked around the machine, trying to take it in from every angle, trying to wrap his head around it. "Ant it flies?" No way could it fly. It was huge! And those wings didn't look like they could flap like a fish's fins or a bird's wings. Surely it would just sink? And that shape didn't look like a bird either. And it was made of metal. Yes, they'd mentioned that already, but actually seeing it was different. It really was made of metal.
>>> "This is our ride back to New York. Go, take a look."
Litan stared in disbelief at the machine, and back at the brunette, grinning in disbelief and excitement. An adult was actually indulging his urge to investigate! Litan smiled thankfully, and walked hurriedly up to the huge machine, following "Ruhpekuh".
>>> "Ah'm actually the English and Literature teacher at th' Mansion, sae if ye loch, Ah can gie ye tons ay books when you're aw moved in."
Lit tilted his head a little, and then nodded at the offer. "Do you 'ave any boogs in Atlandian? Enklish is 'arter and I fint it 'ard to sit still for books in Adlantian. It's worf it, but it is 'ard." He'd take any books, of course, as it was something to do, and the more options of things to do, the better for his distract-able brain, and books were always worth the effort of having to sit still, but that didn't mean he couldn't have a preference.
Lit was promptly distracted by the interior though. He stopped in place, taking a moment to process his surroundings before keeping walking. He didn't look behind him to know how the space continued (noticeably to anyone who didn't know about his mutation, anyway), but made a mouth shape like whistling (without the impressed sound that normally went with it) before continuing. He glanced around, paying attention to all the visual input from his whole body.
It had to be hollow, of course, to fit people inside to travel, but judging by the lack of size discrepancy, it had to be made of extremely thin walls. There were seats in rows (seats that didn't seem to be made for his arms), and a table covered in buttons and dials and interesting things that instantly had Lit's attention as soon as they were noticed, and that was where Lit gravitated to standing.
Thank you for the artwork, Mouse!! Genuinely wasn't expecting anything like that from the qs earlier, and it's amazing!
Lit had thousands of questions, and was not afraid to ask them. It took some getting used to, having to face him when they talked to make sure he could read lips, but it wasn't too bad. Not more than any other kid would require when entering a school. Becca explained her own powers, and Lit paid close attention. Maya wondered how much he understood, but...
>>"To you bolarise all de metal..? Bud there's no medal in there. Unless? Were Leucippus ant Democridus righd aboud atoms? Are there liddle medal "atoms" in the books?"
Oh boy. He was smarter than the average teen, and also about 2500 years behind. Maya was not even sure she could explain particle physics to him on the spot, but luckily, the Jet made for a convenient change of topic.
>>"That's de chet? Ant it flies?"
"Oh yeah it does." Maya grinned, patting the side of the plane as they all walked aboard. She'd already had this experience with Kalos and some other Atlantean kids, but it truly never got old.
>>"Do you 'ave any boogs in Atlandian? Enklish is 'arter and I fint it 'ard to sit still for books in Adlantian. It's worf it, but it is 'ard."
"Maybe we do need some Atlantean books. We'll need to find a translator." Maya noted, filing the information away for later. As Lit looked around, admiring the insides of the Jet, Maya walked forward to take one of the pilot seats, and she turned back to catch Lit's attention once he was done staring. "Pick a seat, and strap yourself in. Um... Becca can probably help you with the seatbelts." Based on the extra arms, the kid might need an extra kind of safety belt...

Rebecca’s newest trick was not an easy one to explain, because she was not a scientist and magnetism was weird. She hated that cop-out answer, but seriously, magnetism does very odd things, and her degrees were in English Literature, thank you very much. ”From what Ah can see, Ah give an object a positive or negative charge. Ah dinnae know the exact way it works, bit we can talk with a science teacher soon if ye wanna learn abit it!” AKA: So we can probably both learn about this weird thing I can do.
Sometimes it was important for Rebecca not to carry her taught biases as someone who grew up in the United Kingdom and the United States. She wanted to help the Atlanteans get a better grasp of English because she was most accustomed to it living in those places, but it was entirely valid that the Mansion should pick up Atlantean texts. The language was challenging, but she wanted to take the time to learn enough to help future students feel more comfortable.
At least, those were notes to consider when she returned, she thought as she carefully navigated the boy’s seatbelt. ”Ah’m sure th’ princess can help us gie some Atlantean books fer ye tae read soon! An’ if ye’d loch tae learn t’ read th’ English books, Ah can help too.”
With Litan’s seating settled, Becca took the seat across from him and smiled. ”Alright, Ah hope yer ready tae enjoy th’ flight!”
The jet touched down carefully on the landing pad of the Mansion, where it would be taken into the hangar. The weather was chilly, as was common in New York at this time of the year. They did not return to snow, but winter was clearly in swing. ”Well, welcome tae New York an’ th’ Mansion! Alsae, we should ay thought abit it, bit we’ll need tae gie ye a coat.” She had a skilled tailor in mind who could handle a custom job like that. ”Til then, we should gie ye inside an’ it of th’ cold. Sae hoo did ye loch th’ flight?”
