It would have been cliché to say it felt like a first kiss, but Maya's brain was not exactly at peak eloquence at the moment. It felt like a weight had been lifted as they kissed, for a long time; it felt like finding something that had been missing. Maya hummed, wrapping her arms around the redhead, and Becca shifted until she was sitting on her lap. She hummed too, or maybe Maya just felt like she did, and the touch, the smell, the taste completely blanked out everything they had been tiptoeing around before. It took a while before they broke for air, resting their foreheads together.
>>”Ah really loch ye, Maya.”
Maya chuckled a little drowsily, burying her nose in Becca's neck in a gentle gesture.
"I really like you too. I guess I have been overthinking a lot of things lately..."

The kiss felt like it was a long time coming. They had shared so many kisses over the years, but this was the first time Rebecca pulled away, looked into those dark eyes, and finally let her think it: My Maya. They still had to talk, but the thought no longer felt presumptuous or premature.
There were bigger L words they were not ready for, but Becca was glad to finally open up and be honest about how she felt. It was freeing, but not nearly as satisfying as hearing Maya return the sentiment. Was it immature of her to actually feel giddy? A girl really liked her! She had to let her diary know! Except she was now twenty-five and her diary was a video camera seen by thousands. Maybe she would hold off on that.
For now, she would just appreciate Maya burrowing against her neck. She slipped her arms around Maya’s back and just held her. ”Ye hae. Sae whit dae ye say? Nae mair overthinkin?” She pressed a kiss atop Maya’s head of black hair. ”Let’s see whit thes can be, really?” Becca was tired of wondering what kind of potential her and Maya had without ever addressing it. They fit together naturally, and she wanted to see what might come of that.
