Character
Personality: She is proper, educated, and humorous. She has a more rebellious attitude towards life, primarily due to her views in her time period. She treats all people fairly and with respect, is usually calm, but she does have slight anger issues. She is more open-minded, free-thinking than most individuals in her era.
Hobbies/ Interests: She enjoys: Reading, sewing, knitting, cooking, tinkering with gadgets like watches, and political activism: she was already a huge supporter of Women’s Suffrage and Abolition.
Job or part time job and description: In her time, she was a teacher
Fears/ phobias/ concerns: Probably one of her biggest fears is being forced into a loveless marriage. She also fears that she won’t fit in to this new timeline and she worries even more that she may have come from a different timeline than this one – maybe one where the confederates won the war, etc.
Special talents: She was born in 1840, so she knows a lot about the history & build up to the Civil War in the U.S. (with a heavy perspective as a Northerner, advocating for the Union & Abolition.)
She can also sew her own clothes
She has a way with words
She is very mannered
Morality
Good/ bad/ neutral/ other: Neutral – she’s a relatively good person, but she is a bit more rebellious, especially for her timeline. She doesn’t completely understand the new world she finds herself in, which makes her more susceptible to less than good influences.
Mutations
Mutation description: There is two facets to Gwendolyn’s powers, with a central idea of vision/communication:
a) Vision: She can essentially “see” what any 1 person within 2,000 miles (most of the mid-eastern US, Canada & Caribbean) She can basically watch what they watch through their eyes. She can hear, too, but only about 20 feet around the individual she’s “watching.”
b) Communication: She can also whisper into their minds as well, which she can try to influence decisions (although pretty badly due to some issues discussed in weaknesses and limitations)
Strengths: She’s a perfect spy – she can literally see & relatively hear well what any one person is saying at any given time. She can even whisper into their minds, trying to influence their decisions.
Weaknesses and Limitations:
a) Vision: She is limited on who/how she can connect to someone elses eyes.
a. She either has to know their full name & their exact location (within x building, on x street, in x county, in x state, in x country.) Alternatively, she has to know their full name and have something that they once touched/used – essentially, something an item that can somehow be connected to that person.
b. If she does not know their full name, (including middle name,) she may not jump into the right person’s vision. If anyone else shares a name with them, there is a pretty high possibility she’d go to the wrong person.
c. She can only watch one person at a time. However, she can stop and go to a new person. But, before she can pull someone to see their vision, she has to prepare mentally which can take about 1-2 minutes.
b) Communication: She cannot control/actually convince someone to do something
a. She has no connection to what is in their mind – so she has no idea what they are thinking about. She literally only has their vision & their hearing (hearing only up to 20 feet.) She can talk into their ears, and they will hear it, but chances are they’ll just brush it off or get freaked out by it.
b. She cannot hear anything they think – so unless they speak something, she won’t know what their reaction was to the communication she whispered into their mind.
c. The voice always sounds different in the persons mind – they almost always get paranoid, feel weird, unsure because the voice sounds like Gwendolyn and not like what their mind sounds like.
d. She has to currently have their vision to use this part of her ability.
So, the main take away with her weaknesses:
· She cannot read minds – she has no ability to see, hear, or anything else what is going on in the individuals mind.
· Ironically, someone who wears a tin foil hat can evade her powers fairly well. She can still connect, but it is blurry and the sound is static.
· She also only sees through their vision & hears through a limited radius – she cannot feel, taste, or smell what the person has.
· Communication is a one way street – she can whisper into their mind, but she cannot hear a response or anything else unless they physically speak it out loud.
· Anyone with a blocking ability, and most likely individuals who are telepathic, would be able to block her entirely out.
· She can only reach about 2,000 miles in any given direction before she can no longer connect with someone. She can only watch for about 2-3 hours without getting fatigued. If they have a strong mental defense, it can easily be reduced to 1- 1 ½ hours without getting fatigued. It depends on how much effort & concentration she has to put into watching them.
Physical Abilities
General Physical Capabilities: She has a bit higher than usual strength and stamina, but is average in almost all other categories
Fighting Style: None. She may try to stab someone with a sewing needle in defense, but otherwise, she’s not good in a fight.
Fighting Style Pros/Cons: None
History Of Your Character
Gwendolyn Theodosia White was born to Mark Thomas White and Margaret Anna Hildebrand. Her father was around 37 when he married her mother, who was about 15 at the time. She had Gwendolyn about 2 years later after 1 miscarriage. Her mother would end up having 5 other children, but only 2 other would live. Her mother was distraught over her lost children, but she learned to adjust as did her father.
As the oldest child, but a female, she was expected to be married at a young age to a wealthy merchant – or, even better, a politician. Her father always wanted her to be a Senator’s wife or at least a Senator’s son’s wife. And with the looming American Civil War, it seemed like a good time to try to set something up.
Originally, when she was 9, her father had begun discussing with a Senator from Maine a marriage proposal to the Senator’s son (who was 30, at that time.) This was when her powers first manifested – she was sitting in her room, playing with her dolls, as he was discussing the dowry with the Senator. Gwendolyn entered into his vision and saw him about to propose the marriage, but her voice apparently shook her father out of the moment. From there, they had decided it wasn’t the best route for her.
Ultimately, Gwendolyn could relatively control her powers. The main times she couldn’t would be when she was sleeping – she’d somehow find random people and begin watching them. One of the most frightening was witnessing a robbery through a poor, elderly woman’s eyes. Gwendolyn tried to tell her to hide, but Gwendolyn was so scared in the moment she couldn’t speak.
Her father agreed to let her become educated & to become a teacher. She gained her teaching credential when she was 20.
When her 22nd birthday came, her father had begun to look for a opportune marriage for her – and he found one. She was considered an old maid – she should have about 2-3 kids by her age and be well into marriage. But she wasn’t. She was childless and getting old. Her father knew the Senator of Pennsylvania and his son, who was 30 and just lost his wife due to childbirth. He had also lost only other son in the Civil War, which was raging at this point. They had agreed that Gwendolyn would be a perfect match. It would solidify her families influence in Washington, D.C. & provide a comfortable, rich life for Gwendolyn & her children.
It wasn’t something Gwendolyn wanted - she wanted romance, true love. A very progressive idea at this time. She was the type of girl who would show her ankles to guys, drink when they drank, and was in general a rebellious woman in her time. Her arranged marriage ended that.
Ultimately, two days before her wedding, a small boy who just manifested his powers ends up tearing a small hole in the space-time continuum. This led to an event where her, him, and the train car are teleported into the present day world. Unfortunately, the boy did not survive the incident - his body disintegrated during the process, most likely due to the extremity of his powers. The train car was damaged heavily during the travel, but Gwendolyn managed to get through unharmed.

Sample RP:
Gwendolyn was riding on the train. She was going to be married in 2 days. It wasn’t the first time and it definitely would not be the last time she would be on the train. She’d be living in D.C. for some parts of the year, and some parts of Philadelphia for the rest.
She had been pushing this day off for weeks now – but she had no choice, now. All her begging would not change her father’s mind. He needed her to marry the Senator’s son & she needed to have children as soon as humanly possible. Her father made sure to know how important this marriage was, especially considering how old Gwendolyn was now. 22 is not an ideal age for marriage. Not to mention, they had just received notice that her brother, the oldest son, was killed in a battle with the Confederates. A cannon tore him apart, or so the letter stated.
So, Gwendolyn was on a train heading towards the capital of the Union, uncomfortably close to the battles raging between the North and the South. There wasn’t much else she could do – unless she wanted to run away. She had legitimately considered it but decided it was not the best option. She’d miss her family too much.
She was rolling her huge, packed to the brim luggage case with her as she walked down the train cars hallway. She was late – she barely made it on in time, and the train seemed to nearly take off as soon as they shut the door for her.
She tilted her head, she saw quite a curious thing – a small child who was staring intently at her, his eyes white. She stared back, unsure of what was going on. Was he possessed? She shielded her eyes as he suddenly screamed and turned white.
The next thing she knew, everything was black. She felt like every piece of her body had been ripped apart and stitched back together. And when she opened her eyes, she was laying in the train car. She slowly pulled herself up. The train car was tilted sideways. Maybe the train had wrecked? She saw a shadow printed along the side of the cart - it looked like the boy. There was a pair of slightly melted shoes where the boy stood. What happened to him? She moved to the end of the train cart and pulled the door open and stepped out. The first thing she saw was buildings that were made of glass? And towering in the sky? She coughed as she tried to get her breath back. And what were those weird shapes with wheels? Were those... People in them? What just happened to her?
