The X-men run missions and work together with the NYPD, striving to maintain a peaceful balance between humans and mutants. When it comes to a fight, they won't back down from protecting those who need their help.
Haven presents itself as a humanitarian organization for activists, leaders, and high society, yet mutants are the secret leaders working to protect and serve their kind. Behind the scenes they bring their goals into reality.
From the time when mutants became known to the world, SUPER was founded as a black-ops division of the CIA in an attempt to classify, observe, and learn more about this new and rising threat.
The Syndicate works to help bring mutantkind to the forefront of the world. They work from the shadows, a beacon of hope for mutants, but a bane to mankind. With their guiding hand, humanity will finally find extinction.
Since the existence of mutants was first revealed in the nineties, the world has become a changed place. Whether they're genetic misfits or the next stage in humanity's evolution, there's no denying their growing numbers, especially in hubs like New York City. The NYPD has a division devoted to mutant related crimes. Super-powered vigilantes help to maintain the peace. Those who style themselves as Homo Superior work to tear society apart for rebuilding in their own image.

Serena shrugged gently at the comment, feeling old feelings and memories starting to stir. It wasn't an entirely pleasant feeling. "In my experience, a lot of the students who end up at the mansion tend to be better off there from already having had previous trauma." God, the number of names she could list off the top of her head that fit that bill...
She shook her head in amusement. "I can hardly imagine." She snorted. "I remember a gryphon shifter flying through the kitchen half naked, that was an interesting greeting considering I'd only been living there for like, a month at the time." She wondered where Carrick was now, she'd not spoken to him in years at this point.
It'd been quite sunny out, so as a result Serena was simply wearing skinny jeans and a T-shirt with a hoodie over it. When the attack came it was fairly sudden and impulsive. The group on either side of them seemed mostly to be counting on the element of surpise and sheer numbers. Good, that meant that they were probably fairly undisciplined.
She grunted in response to Geo's comment. "Serena, please." She shook out of her hoodie, drawing a small flask out of her pocket that had been tight to her leg. She didn't have much on her today, she hadn't been expecting any trouble. No matter, she could fight pretty well regardless. She didn't let Geo act as a shield either, she stepped up beside him, putting her back to his and facing the opposite direction.
It was mere moments before a swarm of thugs descended, most of the residents had fled, or were helping others flee. The volunteers were mostly hiding too. She stepped forwards as someone took a swing at her with a knife. She stepped under and inside his guard, twisting her leg and hooking it behind his, using his own forward momentum against him and throwing him out past Geo onto the ground.
"You'll have to tell me later how a Gryphon can be half-naked." The thugs approached. Geo wasn't all together surprised to notice his companion seem to snap at the ready as well. Xavier's was normally pretty good about training their kids to hold their own. It was a simple act of instinct to move between people and danger. As the goons moved in Geo went to work moving the ground around him. While he had his arms augmented he had less control of the dirt in his range but he could still gather what materiel he could around his feet.
The first man to come in to Geo's range was met with an oversized fist to his chest. The enhanced strength his manipulation gave propelled the man back into the air before crashing back into the ground. It was then that a man came from behind Geo, tossed to the ground by the small woman behind him. The elemental gave a nod of approval before grabbing the man by his clothing and throwing him to meet one of his oncoming friends head on.
"Serena it is." Geo could respect another mutants wishes as to what they were called. He wouldn't push his own preferences on to others that was for certain. Though there were bigger things to handle. Dropping his hold on his golem enhancements his arms crumbled back to their original size. The stone crumbled apart adding to the dirt at the elemental's feet as he took full control over the material.
Two of the thugs thought themselves clever, charging at the elemental from two different angles. The one to his left came running with an aluminum bat in full flourish while the one to his right seemed to wield a blade. Creating a semi-circle around himself, as to not impede Serena's work space, Geo went to work. As the man with the blade lashed out at the mutant the earth sprang into action catching hold of the man with the blade. Holding him in place Geo pulled the rest of the dirt together. A pillar of the material sprang from Geo's feet to catch the chin of the man with the bat.
A mental image of Carrick being goofy popped up in the corner of her mind, drawing a smile to her lips before she finished the throw of the thug that had come at her past Geo, dusting off her hands a little she moved back into the fight as 2 more of them came at her. She ducked the first ones clumsy swing, moving him off balance and pushing him into the second one.
"Is that all you've got?" She chided. One of them tried to come from her side at Geo with what looked like a knife. Crap. One of the ones she'd thrown into the other yelled something back. "Too afraid to actually fight back little girl?" He used a word with more effect than 'girl'. At this she spun around to the man coming at Geo, gave him a rough shove on the shoulder causing him to turn to her instead and moved in, twisting her body into a punch.
She wasn't a huge heavy hitter, and she didn't have a gigantic amount of muscle mass. But she was fairly well toned, and she carried her momentum into the punch. On top of that she'd been taught how to throw a real punch by someone much more experienced in combat than these thugs. He toppled over backwards, scraping the blade along her arm. She'd experienced this sensation more times than she'd care to recall, so it didn't really stop her in her tracks.
She gathered the blood from her wound, and burst the top of her flask, pulling together nearly a pint overall. She was unmistakably a mutant threat now, judging by the blue glow surrounding her and her weapon of choice. She flung a tennis ball sized projectile at one of the men approaching Geo from the side and winded him, knocking him back into some chairs off to the side.
Geo laughed loudly as Hemorrhage quipped at their opponents. Or Serena, rather, as she preferred. It was a bad habit. Running with the Order people tended to stick solely to their chosen mutant name. She was a feisty one, no wonder she had no problem knocking him back into his place. He was always happy to have a skilled fighter watching his back in a scrap. As the man with the bat crumbled to the ground Geo pulled the rest of the dirt up and around the man. Catching hold of him and twisting the sand into a twister he lifted the man off of his feet.
Focused on the sandstorm he had created to capture the goon Geo turned his back towards Serena's end as he pulled the storm towards the first man climbing to his feet. He didn't see the man approaching him while his back was turned. Catching up a second victim Geo directed the storm to toss them back out to the mouth of the street. As he recalled the sand he peaked over his shoulder in time to see Serena dispatch the man aiming to get the upper hand on the him. What the heck was that she had hit him with? The elemental was caught in a bit of wonder as he observed the woman at work. That color...Hemorrhage. Then came the light bulb.
"I get it! Hemorrhage?! Brilliant." Geo called out a bit of laughter in his voice. He wasn't one to take fights with humans very seriously. Though perhaps he should have. While he was too busy admiring Serena's ability to watch his back he had forgot to keep an eye out for himself. One of the men who had still been on his feet picked up the discarded bat off the ground. Before Geo had a chance to notice he has hit hard over the back of the head. Falling forward Geo caught himself on the ground. The sharp pain from the blow made his blood boil. Geo's face turned a violent shade of red as the dirt the was around him shivered before jumping to him. In one motion he gathered the dirt onto his right arm as he pushed off of the ground to catch the man by his torso. Large stone fingers wrapped around the mans body as Geo lifted him off the ground. Fear filled the man's features as he saw the vicious snarl that formed on Geo's face.
"Proud of that one meat bag? Too afraid to fight a person head on."The elemental applied pressure to the mans chest as he cried out in pain.
Serena moved between people who were trying to gang up on her now, deciding that she was likely the smaller threat than the person able to control the earth. She smirked as one of them leapt for her, she once again clipped his lower leg on the way past and gave him a shove to the side, just diverting his momentum, so he collided with rubble and had the wind knocked out of him.
Serena then drove a kick into one of the other guys fairly hard, in the lower stomach. A move that drove him off balance, coughing and spluttering as the wind was battered out of his lungs. Another threw a swing with a plank of wood, it connected with her side without too much force. It still stung like hell though. She gathered the rest of the blood that was in her flask and added it to her current pool, forming it into a large hand, akin to something out of a Rayman game and then drew the fist back, smacking three of the thugs down to the ground and knocking the fight solidly out of them.
She spun around, a small carpet of downed and coughing thugs behind her as she turned to Geo, crushing the hell out of one of the people who had attacked him. She saw a note of... sadism in his face? She reacted quickly and gave the man a solid shove with the blood appendage away from Geo. She faced the other mutant with a lot of determination and presence. "There is no need for that."
As the stones fortifying his hand ground against one another Geo tightened his grip on the man. It was a familiar feeling, one that came easily to him. Opposing dominance onto a lesser for of humanity. Or one he had alway thought to be inferior. The ground around him swelled along with his anger. The access dirt at his feet rose up to cling to his body where he stood.
His attention was broken as a crimson appendage came from behind him. It shoved the man from his grip, the stone hand crumbled away with his attention. The thug skittered off into the pavement. Gasping for air as he came to a halt. Geo shot a look over to the girl who had manipulated the blood. The snarl still on his face though it dropped as her concern seemed apparent. He was left blinking, considering what exactly she had seemed to upset about though once he put a moment of thought into it the answer was obvious. Blood rushed to his cheeks as the sand around him fell limp as it went loose from his control.
Stepping back he shoved his hands into his sand filled pockets. Embarrassment rushed to the forefront of his mind as his mouth gaped and looked for the words to help defuse the situation. He had let himself get out of hand. In front of an X-kid no less.
"You're right, you're right." Was all he could muster. He looked out to the would be attackers who now were sprawled across the ground. Nursing wounds from the two. The people looking on from the store front had a similar look of fear, though it seemed to be focused more towards him. The twins, who he had been working with only moments before peaked through the dusty window with fear on their face. His first intinct was to turn to the woman and start making excuses, but excuses he didn't have. It had felt so practiced and natural to jump to such a level of response.
As the fight settled down and some of the men scrambled away, along with a bunch of the of the innocent bystanders and other people that had all showed up to help with the relief. There were terrified, pale faces all around. As a result, Serena positioned herself between the remaining men who'd been causing a ruckus and Geo himself, several orbs of blood floating around in front of her.
The snarl he'd automatically given off without thinking in her direction when she interrupted his... whatever that was, had caused her to be a lot more cautious about being around him. She'd met human and mutant supremacists in her time, and she didn't get along with either of them. She'd gotten the feeling that Geo might have leaned a little more heavily on that side than he'd indicated.
Her eyebrow raised. She wasn't going to just forgive and forget. People who caused unnecessary pain needed to be slapped down. Hard.
She cut off any further response. "Out of hand? Getting out of hand is taking a joke too far, or upsetting somebody." Her voice was deadly even, the orbs in front of her twitched a little bit. She wasn't just mad, she was furious.
