The X-men run missions and work together with the NYPD, striving to maintain a peaceful balance between humans and mutants. When it comes to a fight, they won't back down from protecting those who need their help.
Haven presents itself as a humanitarian organization for activists, leaders, and high society, yet mutants are the secret leaders working to protect and serve their kind. Behind the scenes they bring their goals into reality.
From the time when mutants became known to the world, SUPER was founded as a black-ops division of the CIA in an attempt to classify, observe, and learn more about this new and rising threat.
The Syndicate works to help bring mutantkind to the forefront of the world. They work from the shadows, a beacon of hope for mutants, but a bane to mankind. With their guiding hand, humanity will finally find extinction.
Since the existence of mutants was first revealed in the nineties, the world has become a changed place. Whether they're genetic misfits or the next stage in humanity's evolution, there's no denying their growing numbers, especially in hubs like New York City. The NYPD has a division devoted to mutant related crimes. Super-powered vigilantes help to maintain the peace. Those who style themselves as Homo Superior work to tear society apart for rebuilding in their own image.

Yes, she lived here in the basement, and no, she was not that impressed with Maya or the things she had seen. Also, the direction she was pointing in was definitely not downtown. Maya was not sure if she did that on purpose just to get rid of her non-Bloody-Mary visitor, or if she genuinely had no sense of direction in this underground place. Either way. Maya sighed, getting back inside the bathroom mirror.
"You said Ragnarok, right?" she paused, almost as an afterthought, and leaned against the frame of the mirror. She was genuinely curious "What's the deal with that, anyway? Is trying to summon Bloody Mary a part of... whatever it is that you do with the?"

>> "You said Ragnarok, right? What's the deal with that, anyway? Is trying to summon Bloody Mary a part of... whatever it is that you do with the?"
Astrid's arm dropped to her side and she regarded the woman with a fresh curiosity. Were there really people that didn't know what Ragnarok did? What a sad existence! Astrid suddenly had a new desire: she had to educate the poor woman and make her life better.
"Ragnarok is being... chaos faction," she began to explain. How did one describe the best thing that ever happened to them with limited English? It was more difficult than Astrid had assumed that it would be. She searched for the words to accurately describe what they did. "We are doing... the killing and the explosions. We being best and worst thing to New York City and Earth."
She smirked, pleased with her response. She assumed that since the woman was hanging out beneath New York City, that surely she'd share similar sentiments. Things needed to be blown up. People needed to be murdered. Ragnarok was there for that.
The girl suddenly showed interest. Maya assumed she had chanced upon a topic that the winged teen actually wanted to talk about. Since it was a good opportunity to find out more about Ragnarok, she paused in the mirror, waiting for an explanation.
>>"Ragnarok is being... chaos faction. We are doing... the killing and the explosions. We being best and worst thing to New York City and Earth."
Maya's jaw dropped, and for a moment, she was not sure she heard it right. Okay, so chaos faction was not big news in and of itself... but most clandestine groups like that tended to run on their own ideology, and young members tended to be brainwashed into it. The naked truth of... killing and explosions, said so matter-of-factly, definitely had shock value.
"Wha... wait, huh?" Maya stammered, shaking her head "Whoa... um, how old are you again?..."

>> "Wha... wait, huh?"
Astrid rolled her eyes, though if it had not been for her body language, that fact would not be evident from her pure black eyes. Did the woman seriously not understand her the first time around? It was a chaos faction. She really didn't know how much more clear she could be. Perhaps it was her accent? Astrid figured it could hurt repeating to make sure that wasn't the case.
"Rag. Na. Rok. Chaos faction. Blow the things up," she repeated, slowing down each syllable so that there was no chance that anything could possibly be mistaken. The woman would understand what Ragnarok did if it was the last thing that Astrid ever accomplished.
>> "Whoa... um, how old are you again?..."
Astrid shrugged. "Quinze," she replied in French. Counting in English was still one of the things she struggled with. She squinted back at the woman and sneered at her. "How old is you?"
>>"Rag. Na. Rok. Chaos faction. Blow the things up,"
Yeah, she could not have been any clearer the second time around. Blowing things up. Mirror knew Ragnarok was trouble, but she did not expect this gal to be so... cheerful about it. She reminded her of some of the Sanctuary residents. Plus explosives. Or something.
>>"Quinze. How old is you?"
Quince? Wasn't that... what, fifteen? Not that Maya had been an angel at fifteen, but geez, she was at least not a terrorist... She shook her head, looking at the winged girl.
"Fifteen? Shouldn't you... um." be in school, haha, sure, rocks and glass houses, Mirror "How did you... end up in Ragnarok?"
Maybe she had been captured or something. Or maybe she had been adopted and brainwashed. Who knew.

>> "How did you... end up in Ragnarok?"
Astrid took a step back and leant against the bathroom sink, thinking through what the question meant for a minute. How did she... end up there?
After a few seconds of staring, Astrid answered, hoping that she had figured out the right meaning behind her words. "Asking to be here?" she answered with a shrug.
It had been a bit more complicated than that, really, but that was the gist of it. She'd joined a fight with a powerful mutant, impressed him (clearly with nothing other than her amazingness, and not her ability to be a wonderful minion), and he showed her Ragnarok. She'd been hooked after that. There was no going back.
Well, for then, at least. She was still open to better offers.
Maya was at a loss of how to deal with this girl. She was not only a part of Ragnarok, but she also knew exactly what the organization was about, and she was... proud of it? Not only that, but had apparently asked to be included. Not kidnapped, or brainwashed, or raised into it. That was a level of... disturbing that the mirrorwalker did not often encounter.
What could she possibly say to this? Are you okay? Are you sure you don't want to leave and go to school instead? Blink twice if a powerful telepath is keeping you here?...
"Well... as long as you want to be here." she said finally with a sigh. The best thing she could do, she decided, was to note where this basement was, and keep an eye on the girl, for now. "If you ever decide you'd rather go to school instead... You can find me at Xavier's."

>> "If you ever decide you'd rather go to school instead... You can find me at Xavier's."
Astrid balled up her face. A school? She had left the orphanage for a reason. Well, several reasons, really, but that wasn't the point. She had travelled to America for villainy and freedom, not to be locked up in another school. That was the absolute last thing she wanted.
She huffed and sneered at the woman before turning around. She was bored and not interested going to some stupid school. Frankly, she didn't really care where the woman went.
"If you wanting the chaos, talk me," she called back before exiting the room. She doubted that the woman would, but hey, she hadn't wanted to go to the school.
