The X-men run missions and work together with the NYPD, striving to maintain a peaceful balance between humans and mutants. When it comes to a fight, they won't back down from protecting those who need their help.
Haven presents itself as a humanitarian organization for activists, leaders, and high society, yet mutants are the secret leaders working to protect and serve their kind. Behind the scenes they bring their goals into reality.
From the time when mutants became known to the world, SUPER was founded as a black-ops division of the CIA in an attempt to classify, observe, and learn more about this new and rising threat.
The Syndicate works to help bring mutantkind to the forefront of the world. They work from the shadows, a beacon of hope for mutants, but a bane to mankind. With their guiding hand, humanity will finally find extinction.
Since the existence of mutants was first revealed in the nineties, the world has become a changed place. Whether they're genetic misfits or the next stage in humanity's evolution, there's no denying their growing numbers, especially in hubs like New York City. The NYPD has a division devoted to mutant related crimes. Super-powered vigilantes help to maintain the peace. Those who style themselves as Homo Superior work to tear society apart for rebuilding in their own image.

Aside from the strange philosophical questions running around in his head about the concept of being torn apart atomically and reconstructed elsewhere, Cafas had survived the trip nicely. The only remaining issue was how cold he felt. It was unreasonably cold. The metal manipulator examined the antarctic valley that was to become their new city with veiled resent. Hugging his parka closer to himself, the X-man checked that they were alone.
"Muninn, tell your father I want a raise."
He humorlessly surveyed the piles of building materials, eyes flicking to all the building sites. They had under a month to build a city the size of Sydney. That would have been patently ludicrous if not for mutant kind. Actually, it still seemed ridiculous. Then again, he had been standing in New York City feeling stupid wearing a parka just a few minutes earlier.
Well, at least I don't have to touch the metal these days.
"Come on Muninn, help me find the foreman. I need to know where I'm supposed to be."
The X-man spy set off through the oddly snowless construction site. He figured the administration office would be somewhere central. Luckily they were planning a high density city, so that wasn't too much of a walk.
Why don't they just teleport us right there? I admit the vista is impressive, but it's also super inconvenient.
"It's nice to be helping so many people, isn't it Muninn? In such an unambiguous way."
Panu stood next to Cafas in New York, trying not to overheat and trying not to squeak. The overheating was from his new snow pants and new jacket and new mittens. The squeaking was from his new snow boots, which took every little bounce and made it 150% louder than it needed to be. It was stupid and unprofessional and this was Very Serious Business why-could-he-not-stop-bouncing.
(Because Cafas had invited him on mission, that was why.)
(squeak-squeak-squeak)
He tugged his new scarf up over his warm cheeks and adjusted his headphones--
Except that Ms. Brass had made him leave the headphones behind, and pulled a big new hat with floppy ears on him instead. She said that his headphones would not like the cold and might break, which was true, but did the hat need to have floppy ears? At least it was a dignified black hat with big button eyes and a stiched on raven beak, not the stupid tiger hat she had threatened to get him. He had gone to the R&D department and gotten the eyes replaced with button cameras, which was even better.
He had never been to the colony but now he was going with Cafas.
The shift from here-to-there was not very dramatic. Like stepping out of store in the winter: now they were in New York, now they were in Rapid Temperature Drop. The blonde boy stood still for a moment in this new location. Then, slowly, he tugged his scarf down.
>> "Muninn, tell your father I want a raise."
"Is not so cold. We build Finnish sauna, then is perfect."
Ms. Brass had way over-dressed him, he did not even need hat but he had nowhere to put it if he took it off. His pockets where maybe full of spare batteries and a folding solar panel because this was a hellish land with no internet and no electronics stores. If they were stranded here they could boil snow for water and kill fluffy animals for food and build igloos for shelter, but the only way to do all of those and still be able to use electronics was to Be Prepared.
Panu stood on his tiptoes (squeak) and surveyed the colony-to-be. RIght now it was mostly a pile of building materials, which was maybe a little disappointing in his stomach, but in his head he could overlay the architecural designs. This was going to be the teleporters landing pad, the first in the world that was just-for-them. Over there would be landing strip for regular boring planes. Up there would be start of residential area, to that side is where parliment building would rise, there-there-and-there would be supports for the dome that would make things warm enough that people who were not Nordic would also want to live here.
There was a slow fog creeping in. Hopefully it would not interfere with construction today.
>> "Come on Muninn, help me find the foreman. I need to know where I'm supposed to be."
"Probably he is that way," Panu offered, with appropriate pointing. This was a safe bet, because it was the only place he could feel in the whole of his range that had electricity. He followed closely after Cafas, careful to keep the man in sight as the fog grew denser.
>> "It's nice to be helping so many people, isn't it Muninn? In such an unambiguous way."
Panu wanted to google unambiguous but there was no google here. He was very glad that he had pre-downloaded the translation dictionaries he would need, but even in Finnish he did not know what it meant.
He tripped over something that was maybe ice or maybe a brick. "I like that our family is growing. It is very good to build safe home for them. Will you live here too? Maybe if you pretend to still be X-Man for a little longer you can convince Xavier's school to move here, too. This can be good place for everyone."
The fog was getting worse and worse but Cafas was still walking like there was no problem.
...Oh.
Panu stopped walking and tugged his scarf back up to hide his face, and tried to sound only half as embarrassed as he felt.
"May I please hold your hand? My camera has ice from temperature change."
