The X-men run missions and work together with the NYPD, striving to maintain a peaceful balance between humans and mutants. When it comes to a fight, they won't back down from protecting those who need their help.
Haven presents itself as a humanitarian organization for activists, leaders, and high society, yet mutants are the secret leaders working to protect and serve their kind. Behind the scenes they bring their goals into reality.
From the time when mutants became known to the world, SUPER was founded as a black-ops division of the CIA in an attempt to classify, observe, and learn more about this new and rising threat.
The Syndicate works to help bring mutantkind to the forefront of the world. They work from the shadows, a beacon of hope for mutants, but a bane to mankind. With their guiding hand, humanity will finally find extinction.
Since the existence of mutants was first revealed in the nineties, the world has become a changed place. Whether they're genetic misfits or the next stage in humanity's evolution, there's no denying their growing numbers, especially in hubs like New York City. The NYPD has a division devoted to mutant related crimes. Super-powered vigilantes help to maintain the peace. Those who style themselves as Homo Superior work to tear society apart for rebuilding in their own image.

”Oh?” Sam asked raising an eyebrow to Juliette then to Abby. He was tempted to laugh when Abby blurted out her question but refrained something told not to. Maybe it was because when she asked the question it reminded him of his ‘not-real’ daughter. Sam looked for something to drink for a second then looked back to Abby. He smiled, ”All I heard was job.”
”You want a job huh?” Sam looked to Juliette as if she found amazing then looked back to the kid. ”You’re gonna help me throw out my paperwork?” Sam asked with a hopeful eye. ”I’m pretty sure there are child labor laws in place but…” Sam shrugged.
Juliette couldn't seem to stop the corners of her mouth from turning upwards into a smile at the little girl next to her. The way she stopped to compose herself and then rushed into a long string of syllables was absolutely adorable. She covered her mouth to hide the fact that her smile was not longer one of encouragement, and that she was having to stop herself from laughing.
"Child labour laws are..." Juliette paused and shared Sam's look as she tipped her head back and forth to convey that she was thinking about it. They would apply in that case, but really, it wouldn't technically be a real job unless she was put on the payroll. Plus, most places that she knew of allowed kids to work at fourteen, and Abby was thirteen. She wasn't far off. "...not that big of a deal in this particular case."
"And I don't think there'll be anything dangerous here, other than perhaps the occasional paper cut from a form," she winked at Abby and nodded to the mountain that covered his desk. "I would imagine you'll be sorting it rather than throwing it out, though."

>>"Child labour laws are...not that big of a deal in this particular case."
Oh. Right. Laws. "I'll be fourteen in April," she offered. Though she was pretty sure there weren't any exceptions for thirteen year olds. Uh-oh. Could the pocket money she gets from her Aunt and Uncle be enough until April? Probably not. Abby wanted to buy presents for all her friends for Christmas. She had enough for her Aunt and Uncle and Papa and Maya. She was in eighth grade after all. Almost an adult!
Kind of... Maybe...
>>"...paper cut from a form. I would imagine you'll be sorting it rather than throwing it out, though."
Abby smiled at Juliette. "Sorting I can definitely do." She nodded with as much confidence as she could muster. She really hoped Sam would let her do this. It would be a lot of help for her.

Sam shook his head when Juliette said he was joking, ”Nope, throw them out as in store them in the garbage so I don’t have to deal with them at a later time.” he smirked to her then to Abby, ”Fourteen? Hmmm… how much you want to make? Cause I can’t just hand you money you know.” Sam said trying to act like he was still on the fence even though she already had the job.
”Can you keep secrets?” Sam asked lifting some of the papers. ”Some of the incidents in these need to be kept quite.” Sam said looking over the one in his hand, ”Kid sneezed and started a fire in one of the elevators….” Sam paused and looked at it for a second, ”I put it out… I wrote this… when did I write this…” Sam said as he genuinely didn’t remember writing or being present for the incident.
Looking at the date… ”Two months ago…” Sam nodded his head and then placed it back on his desk, ”You’re hired.”
Juliette frowned slightly at Sam when he admitted to throwing out his papers. Someone was supposed to be running the school, and she seriously hoped that not everything went down like that. There were things like laws, and governments, and auditors and such.
She did grin when he announced that Abby was hired, though. It warmed her heart to see the girl succeed, even if there hadn't really been any doubt that she would. She put a light hand on her back and allowed her a little bit of silence to thank Sam and figure out some details.
After a minute or so, she mouthed a thank you to Sam and then glanced at Abby. "What do you say, want to go talk to Doc Prof, or leave it at that?" She asked her, wanting to leave as much of the process up to her as she possibly could. The worst thing that she could do was force her into something that she didn't actually want to do.

Abby giggled as Sam read from the paper in his head. It didn't sound all that secret-y but maybe it was just the first paper he grabbed. Hearing she was hired made her jump a little.
Abby didn't actually know what would be a good amount of money to be paid. So she said the first number that popped in her head. "Eight?" Eight seemed like a good number. She knew some of the older teens had jobs that paid about that much, if she remembered right. "And I can keep all the secrets!" she told him proudly. There weren't too many people she would tell anyway. And if Sam wanted it to be secret she could do that. "I promise I'll work really hard. You won't regret it!"
>>"What do you say, want to go talk to Doc Prof, or leave it at that?"
"Uh," she paused. She had a job now. Was there really a reason to go see the Doc? Would it be like asking for too much. Shaking her head, Abby decided. "No, I think I should only do one."
