Mutations
Mutation description: Aside from blue skin and a pre-hensile tail, she possess area awareness. She can see & hear what is going on around her within a five-foot radius of the tip of her tail even if she is not physically looking at it. Hightened reflexes and super agility. Excellent physical shape requiring little upkeep.
Strengths: As long as she is not distracted, her power is constantly going which makes it near impossible to surprise her at close range. She is good at thinking on her feet.
Weaknesses and Limitations: She cannot see beyond the radius unless she is looking at it with her eyes. She ADD which makes it difficult for her to focus. This in-turn hinders her area awareness which requires that she be focused and aware of her surroundings in order to use her gift. If she is daydreaming (which she does often) or otherwise distracted from what’s going on around her, she won’t see what’s going on. She also has a temper. Though it comes out rarely, when it does, it severely hinders her gift as when she is angry, she is focused on the source of her anger rather than her surroundings. When unfocused, she can tend to be a klutz. This manages to subvert both her area awareness and her reflexes. It also snowballs so when she klutzes-up, and she tries to correct or catch herself, her agility crumbles and she often ends up on her rear.If her tail is numb, in serious pain, or even cutt-off (yikes!), her power becomes inactive until the situation is rectified.

Fighting Style: None. She doesn’t like to fight. She mostly dodges until her opponent gets too winded to fight anymore.
Fighting Style Pros/Cons: N/A
History Of Your Character
Born with blue skin and a tail, Tarissa would have grown up with the stigma of being different than her brothers and parents, were it not for the fact that from a very early age, her parents taught her not to be ashamed of how God made her. Throughout school, they continued to teach her this, even into her teen years. The result is that while she is often hated and persecuted for who she is, she, for the most part, does not let it get to her. Any attempts to harm her she usually able to avoid due to her gifts, and moreso since her area awareness kicked in at age ten. She was eating breakfast one morning when she suddenly had a vision of a tennis ball about to impact her head. The vision caused her body to instantly react and she turned and caught the ball which had been tossed by her brother trying to mess with her. She soon discovered that her tail acted as an antenna, giving her visual of whatever was going on within the radius of its tip.
The small town in which she grew up eventually got used to her and treated her at worst as just one of the town oddities. The family found true acceptance, however, with their church family.
Her mother and older brother died in a car accident five years ago. Her younger brother went off to college last year and at the same time, her father was laid off from his job. He spent a year furthering his education. She and her father moved to Westchester when he got a job there as a computer technician for a big firm.

Tarissa lay back against the plastic shower wall, the water shooting at her from the shower spout. Her mind was wandering as it often did. Usually it was to her stories, but today it was to her mother. She had begun to imagine how it would have been if they were all still together, how it would have been for her and Timothy. As it was she imagined herself to be a lot more stable, less emotional, and definitely less temperamental. She imagined going out to get ice
cream as they had often done and smiled at the warm memory that replaced the day dream. She missed those times very much.
A noise from outside the shower broke her out of her daydream and she turned the shower off.
“Yeah?” she called.
“We're leaving in ten minutes, Tar,” came a deep male voice from the other side of the bathroom door.
“Okay,” Tarissa called back.
Tar quickly dried herself off and got dressed. She put on a pink Hello Kitty
t-shirt and a pair of jeans that had a hole and button in the back that allowed
for her tail to go through without having to fish it out. She then gathered her
hair into a ponytail and looked herself over. Blue eyes looked back at a
teen-aged girl with medium-shade blue skin and curly, dark brown hair. As no one in her family
had ever bothered with make-up, neither did she. As she stared at herself in the
mirror she saw her features and was reminded of how her mom looked when she was
a teen. She liked that and smiled as she exited the bathroom.
In the one-room hotel room stood a slender man of obvious Irish decent throwing
on a light jacket.
”Ready?” he said.
Tar responded with a “Yup.”
The man turned, opened the door and walked outside. Tar
reached her tail to a nearby chair and picked up the jean jacket that was slung
over it as her hands grabbed a book bag that was sitting on the kitchen counter.
She hastily put the jacket on as she followed the man out the door. Walking
towards the car the man was getting into, Tar planted a foot on the hood,
jumped, flipped, landed beside the passenger door and got in. The man had a
slightly surprised smile on his face as she put her seat belt on.
“A little excited are we?” he asked her.
“C'mon, Dad,” Tar replied as the man started the car. “You know how excited I
get at being someplace new.”
Her father nodded as they pulled away. “That I do.”
Once they were on the road, he spoke again.
“Y'know I've heard they're a little more prejudiced here,” he said.
Tarissa rolled her eyes and looked out her window. “Awww, Dad,” she said.
“I want you to be careful, Tar,” her father instructed. “I know it's hard for
you to focus, but you need to be on your toes, especially this first day. I have
some interviews lined up with some private schools today, but until we can get
you into one, you're going to be in public school, which means less security,
which means more danger for you.”
“Dad, just because you were bullied in high-school doesn't mean this place is
going to be the same for me.”
Her dad gave her a look that said, “oh really?”
Her tail allowing her to see everything in the car, she saw his look and finally conceded. “I'll be careful.”
“That's my girl,” her father said as they pulled up to New Rochelle High. “Have a
good day now. I love you.”
“I love you too, Dad,” Tar responded as she took off her seatbelt and gave her
dad a hug.
“Have fun,” he told her. “My cell phone will be on if you need me.”
“Gotcha, Dad,” Tar responded with a thumbs-up as she exited the car.
Her dad watched her until she entered the building and then promptly pulled
away.
