The X-men run missions and work together with the NYPD, striving to maintain a peaceful balance between humans and mutants. When it comes to a fight, they won't back down from protecting those who need their help.
Haven presents itself as a humanitarian organization for activists, leaders, and high society, yet mutants are the secret leaders working to protect and serve their kind. Behind the scenes they bring their goals into reality.
From the time when mutants became known to the world, SUPER was founded as a black-ops division of the CIA in an attempt to classify, observe, and learn more about this new and rising threat.
The Syndicate works to help bring mutantkind to the forefront of the world. They work from the shadows, a beacon of hope for mutants, but a bane to mankind. With their guiding hand, humanity will finally find extinction.
Since the existence of mutants was first revealed in the nineties, the world has become a changed place. Whether they're genetic misfits or the next stage in humanity's evolution, there's no denying their growing numbers, especially in hubs like New York City. The NYPD has a division devoted to mutant related crimes. Super-powered vigilantes help to maintain the peace. Those who style themselves as Homo Superior work to tear society apart for rebuilding in their own image.

They had a youtube video of it.
Ryden chuckled slightly. "Can't say I spent much time on computers. Voice plus metal/glass. I hand write most things." Ryden remarked with a shrug. He fished in his pocket and pulled out a card. It had the name of a local paper on it, as well as his own contact information. "Freelance writer. News always interests me. Plus, sort of got the wrong end...of one of those mutants." He remarked. A glass pane buzzed slightly as they walked past. The person sitting at the coffee table next to it seemed to stare in confusion when it did.
"Boss tried to get an interview from some of you. Guess you're hard to talk to." Ryden shrugged. He almost laughed and gave a slight smirk. "Then again, most people are hard for me to talk to. A penny on the ground snapped in half and another window wobbled in emphasis.

A slight nod, the wizard of blizzard appreciated the small things like hand written letter. Would he ever take the time to write one himself? No, probably not unless there was a reason. Love notes he had written before but other than that. He wasn’t much of a writer. ”Understandable.” Sam smirked slightly surprised Ryden was a writer for a newspaper. Sure they had prints but most of the places used technology. That and pretty much everything in a standard building were made of steel and glass. Ryden must have struggled quite a bit to adapt to his mutation.
Taking the card and pocketing it Sam offered one he had on his person as well, it stated who he was, what he did in the mansion (several titles) and his contact information for the MRD/police department. Ignoring the glass pane after figuring out it would explode and kill some one Sam looked to the split penny, and picked it up. ”Double luck?” Sam asked before turning back towards Ryden fixing his good eye on him.
”Some of ‘you’?” Sam asked curiously, ”You talking mutants or?” he left the question hang in the air before wondering if Ryden was one of the people that kept his mutation a secret. The thought was dismissed almost immediately, it would have been too difficult to hide what happens when he talks. ”X-Men, police, teachers?” Sam waved his hand a little to get more of a direction on what Ryden’s boss wanted an interview on.
”Depending on your answer you will find that I’m pretty sure I’m good at answering questions I’m not asked.” Sam said with a slight smirk. ”You want some coffee? I want some coffee.” with that he walked over to the nearest coffee shop and entered.

If nothing, Sam was good at guessing what Ryden was trying to say. It helped keep the property damage to a minimum. Ryden had conducted a few interviews before, but they were always held someplace outside the city and in a metal free zone if possible. The less he could damage, the better. But a chance to interview a supposedly dead guy? He couldn't pass that up.
"X-men." He clarified. "Details are still slim on the whole event. You know, you all being assumed dead." His voice traveled from window to window, spacing itself out to avoid breaking anything. It was hard to continue a conversation and focus on where his powers were going, but he didn't want to scare away a possible interview. He nodded in response to the coffee offer. Although coffee shops did tend to give a lot of ammo to his powers.

Ryden was right. Not to many X-Men stood around for interviews. Good reason behind it. X-Men weren’t supposed to take credit for something they were supposed to do. You can make a difference in the world you do it. You don’t leave it for other people to do. ”Yeah, it was a complicated situation.” Sam said shrugging his shoulders. He did do it for a reason, wasn’t just because he wanted attention.
Sam continued to walk making note of how Ryden had been moving and making it apparent he was slightly distracted. Maybe he was thinking too much about his next questions or he was trying to make sure the nearest mailbox didn’t blow up. Either way Sam tried not to overwhelm him too much by talking and walking too quickly. ”Coffee shop round the corner from here me thinks.” Sam said as he waved him forward as he rounded the corner.
Lo and behold there was a coffee shop a small one in between several larger office buildings. Metallic chairs and tables were out in front of the shop with a dozen or so people on their lunch breaks talking to each other and drinking coffee. Sam imagined how hard it would be to talk to someone who was worried about not getting too loud. ”How about we grab the coffee and we head to a park or something? Don’t want you blowing any more metal up.”
As he headed into the shop Sam turned looking remorseful, ”Oh and me and a few others faked my death, planned the funeral and everything, paperwork and all that jazz. Really sad thing to have to put the loved ones through.” Sam said leaving Ryden with that information as he entered the shop.

As they reached the coffee shop, Ryden tried not to act too relieved about finding someplace safer to chat. While he was fairly certain he wouldn't break anything big, it did give him a headache having so much metal around. The more metal, the more control it took to keep his voice on 'target'. And he didn't want anyone's chair exploding on them. That would be...bad.
"A park would be nice." He agreed. Still plenty of metal you wouldn't expect, but better than here.
Ryden nodded slightly as Sam admitted the whole "faking his death" thing. He could imagine what that would do to people. While he didn't have a lot of close family or friends, he'd seen people face the death of a loved one and it was never pretty. "Can't imagine that would go over well..." He remarked. A nearby chair rattled in agreement.

”Nope.” Sam said agreeing with Ryden, ”Lot of people were and still angry at me but I had to do it.” Sam shrugged, ”Otherwise the mansion and the kids would have been endangered.” Sam said with a quick summary as to why he faked his death. Sam ordered to coffees and then handed one to Ryden, paid then quickly started for the exit in hopes Ryden wouldn’t’ blow anything up. He didn’t really fell like having any more injuries near him today. He might have gotten Ryden away from the police the first time without any questions second time not so much.
”Girlfriend was pissed, might have contributed to the split. Among other things.” Sam said with a sip of his coffee opening the door, ”She said it was a timing issue but it is what it is. Still keep in touch but it’s more casual now.” Sam said as he exited the coffee shop and turned the corner. The park was two blocks away now meaning Sam didn’t slow his pace till they were there If Sam was going to be questioned he was pretty sure he’d have some questions for himself.
”Now how exactly does this go. You ask questions and then write what I say and if I say something is off record it doesn’t go in the story or does it get bolded in the article?” Sam said. ”If so I might have some questions for you as well.” Sam said with a smirk.

Ryden wrote a few notes, shifting the coffee into the crook in his arm until he was done, and followed Sam towards the park. Ryden nodded to confirm the whole "off the record" stuff, then sipped his coffee and shrugged. Shrugging was an important part in his vocabulary. People understood shrugging. Shrugging didn't blow things up. There was always some old lady who would scold you for it though. Don't be such a shrugger.
Mental shrug.
"You can ask, I'll do my best to answer." A street lamp ever so slightly shuddered as they passed. He took another gulp of the coffee, hoping the caffeine would keep a headache down. "Can't guess what I'd know that'd interest you though." He admitted.

When he got approval Sam nodded his head and started with the questions. Nothing to in depth however if Ryden wanted to go into detail Sam wouldn’t stop him. Sipping his coffee and clearing his throat Sam started with a simple one. ”When did you first discover you were a mutant?” that was one he normally started with when he was welcoming new members to the mansion or at least determining if they would be welcomed. Kids normally got the benefit of the doubt but older folks were questioned a little more. His job was to keep the residents of the mansion safe after all.
They walked down the street a bit more then they crossed over into the entrance to the park. Kids were running around and throwing Frisbees and baseballs. Any other day Sam would have run up to a group and ask to throw one or the other around if he had time. Now however he was busy investigating the reporter a bit to make sure he didn’t actually attempt to harm anyone. Sam was also waiting for the next question.

Ryden considered the question for a moment, trying to think of the shortest way to say it without sounding rude. A few more sips of coffee and he had it. "High school. Slight incident with the bleachers."
Could have been worse though. He could only imagine what would have happened if his powers arrived when he was a baby. The screaming could have leveled a small city by the time he he was two...

That was that then. Sam nodded his head at the short response. Made sense to keep it short and sweet but Sam had more questions now. Some he’d ask sooner than later. The way Ryden was being reluctant with talking made sense to Sam given his powers it also put Sam slightly at ease that Ryden wasn’t the type put others in harms way. At least that was what Sam was gathering the more time he spent with the journalist. ”I imagine it gets hard to interview people when you can’t talk.” Sam said more to himself than to Ryden.
”Have you ever tried using…” Sam snapped his fingers a few times as he held an invisible device to his throat. ”The thing smokers use after the removal of the voice box.” he couldn’t think of it at the moment but he decided to pull out his phone and type what he was thinking into his phone. He was looking down and from first glance it seemed he couldn’t see anyone in front of him.
Still typing into his phone Sam continued to speak, ”Electro-larynx.” Sam was still looking down at his phone as he avoided crashing into someone who wasn’t watching where they were going as well. Sam took a few steps and was back next to Ryden as they continued walking. ”I mean unless your mutation works differently. Is it just your voice or anytime you open your mouth?” Sam asked as he pulled up a note app on his phone and tossed it to Ryden so he could type in his questions if he wanted to. ”Have you ever been to the mansion?” Sam asked only thinking that everyone immediately knew which one he was referring to.
