The X-men run missions and work together with the NYPD, striving to maintain a peaceful balance between humans and mutants. When it comes to a fight, they won't back down from protecting those who need their help.
Haven presents itself as a humanitarian organization for activists, leaders, and high society, yet mutants are the secret leaders working to protect and serve their kind. Behind the scenes they bring their goals into reality.
From the time when mutants became known to the world, SUPER was founded as a black-ops division of the CIA in an attempt to classify, observe, and learn more about this new and rising threat.
The Syndicate works to help bring mutantkind to the forefront of the world. They work from the shadows, a beacon of hope for mutants, but a bane to mankind. With their guiding hand, humanity will finally find extinction.
Since the existence of mutants was first revealed in the nineties, the world has become a changed place. Whether they're genetic misfits or the next stage in humanity's evolution, there's no denying their growing numbers, especially in hubs like New York City. The NYPD has a division devoted to mutant related crimes. Super-powered vigilantes help to maintain the peace. Those who style themselves as Homo Superior work to tear society apart for rebuilding in their own image.

"If I ever have the fortune of meeting another God I'll be certain to direct them towards you then," Amber offered. Of course that was unlikely unless said God was actually a very powerful mutant and she wasn't certain that would quite satisfy Orochi. Unless, of course, said mutant was a dragon in which case he might even think of him as an equal. Even having known the dragon for a very short period of time, the thought brought a small smile to her face.
At the comparison of her form to that of a deity, Amber offered a small bow. It was easy to offer such respect because she lost nothing in doing so. If there ever came a point where a true struggle for dominance was needed, well, mere words and bows wouldn't suffice. Until that time, words and gestures were too much of a human trapping to take too seriously. Respect would be gained through actions.
The idea that the dragon did not eat was a shocking one; perhaps the first shock that she had truly encountered that night. She tilted her head up at Orochi, considering. Truly, that was something that brought a creature outside the realm of what was natural and she knew a great deal about things not natural. What did it mean, exactly? Should it still be considered something merely mutant or was it correct in its God assumption? Or perhaps there was a third option and that was that dragons, as liches, were beyond mutant kind although likely not Gods. That, she settled upon, was probably the most likely truth.
"You are most fascinating, Orochi, as I am certain you have heard many times before. To hunt and to kill for my own sustinence brings me great satisfaction and if I didn't know any better, I'd feel sympathetic for you that you should never know such satisfaction but it seems your place in the world is unique." To have please in killing for the sake of killing was something that Amber felt was unpleasant at best. To have pleasure in killing for the purpose of feeding oneself was only natural and she felt no shame in the admission. She wasn't wasn't weak in the human way of being forced to rely upon others for her own survival.
Another God would truly be an experience, though Ryoga was quite certain he was the only living God in this modern world. Perhaps he the first in the rise of a new pantheon, or perhaps he was one of a kind. The girl kept her manners, which kept the dragon happy as they spoke. Amber wasn't like other humans or mutants he'd met, her form was unique, and her ability to shift into ancient reptiles gave her a beauty Ryoga normally only saw in nature. This girl could certainly serve beneath him if he so chose. The thought of each using the other a recurring thought in both their heads.
Ryoga hadn't quite told Amber the whole true with his previous statement, while he did in fact not need to eat meat or vegetable matter to sustain himself, he did gain nourishment elsewhere. He new the morning Sun always woke him up and stirred his body, but even he didn't quite understand he could devour all sorts of radiation. The girl complimented him, fascinated with him as she should be. Though her dinosaur ability gave her a shape reminiscent of Orochi, the different between a mortal creature and a God was still that vast. "Chasing down, and working for a meal is the folly of mortals. The warmth of the morning Sun is enough to stir me." All reptiles depended on the Sun for some amount of energy, Ryoga just took it to an extreme with his unique physiology.
"Though, with your own unique condition Amber. I find it surprising you need food, or is the pleasure of the hunt what sustains your withered form?" Ryoga might not understand hunger for the sake of nourishment, but to feed one's ego and internal desires? This he knew well, he was a Dragon after all, and a God. Pride and avarice were two feelings he knew he enjoyed sating, though his culture also taught him a love of Honor. These feelings were what replaced food and sleep for Orochi, things he craved to continue his existence, even if he didn't actually need to indulge them so much as he did.
