The X-men run missions and work together with the NYPD, striving to maintain a peaceful balance between humans and mutants. When it comes to a fight, they won't back down from protecting those who need their help.
Haven presents itself as a humanitarian organization for activists, leaders, and high society, yet mutants are the secret leaders working to protect and serve their kind. Behind the scenes they bring their goals into reality.
From the time when mutants became known to the world, SUPER was founded as a black-ops division of the CIA in an attempt to classify, observe, and learn more about this new and rising threat.
The Syndicate works to help bring mutantkind to the forefront of the world. They work from the shadows, a beacon of hope for mutants, but a bane to mankind. With their guiding hand, humanity will finally find extinction.
Since the existence of mutants was first revealed in the nineties, the world has become a changed place. Whether they're genetic misfits or the next stage in humanity's evolution, there's no denying their growing numbers, especially in hubs like New York City. The NYPD has a division devoted to mutant related crimes. Super-powered vigilantes help to maintain the peace. Those who style themselves as Homo Superior work to tear society apart for rebuilding in their own image.

Apparently, they had skipped to the hangover without any of the fun. ... Then again, maybe there was fun, he just had a hard time remembering it.
Gawain groaned and rolled to his side on the soft surface he was lying on. A bed?... ... way too dusty.
Coughing, he opened his eyes and raised himself on one elbow. He noticed two things: 1. Chains 2. Sam
"Oh dear..."
Whenever a morning involves a hangover, chains, and your mentor lying next to you, you can just tell your day's gonna be all downhill from there...
... even if you have not realized yet that you have an audience.
The silence that surrounded them was not the sleepy silence of early morning in an island village. It was the silence of dozens of people holding their breath, watching you stir awake.

”…. Five more minutes… good dream…” Sam said when he heard someone telling him to wake up. In fact he was having a very good dream one involving tons of scantly cladded women all throwing themselves at Sam on a desert island. ”Ladies, no… well alright…” Sam said his eyes still close and his mind oblivious to all around him. Puckering up his lips and opening his eye Sam found himself making a kissy face at Gawain. He blinked once and realized he had sand in his mouth. ”Gross!” Sam said spitting on the ground and bringing up his hand across his tongue only to hear the clanking of chains around his wrist.
Following the chain back he found it attached to Gawain on the other end. ”The hell?” Sam put his free hand on the manacle around his wrist and was about to break out when he realized where he was and that his awesome dream wasn’t entirely a dream. Sam looked from a concerned Gawain to the women from whenever before. He blinked once and then looked to Gawian, ”Yeah… Gawain think we got our answer on what happened to those missing people…” Sam said standing up and stretching his back allowing the chain to rattle loudly.
”Stay close and be ready for whatever they throw at us… don’t think it’s the party they were telling us about.” Sam said noticing the flare gun on his back was now gone. They must have cleared out his pockets and the flare gun before they chained him to Gawain who must have been disarmed as well. Sam looked to the crowd of woman who were still partially dressed and he realized they were in a pit one that was similar to the gladiator’s coliseum in Rome.
“Warriors!” a voice echoed out from the crowd of women. Sam looked around as the other women fell silent and sat down there was maybe a hundred in the stands it wasn’t a huge arena not nearly big enough to be compared to the one in Rome however there were a lot of similarities like the slabs of rock that were used in the construction, or the box over the arena separate from the rest of the stands. It was there Sam spotted Layla and Jessica on either side of a taller woman dressed in a white robe or toga or what ever it was. Sam blinked and shook his head, ”Damnit.”
“We are gathered here today because we have gathered two more men!” the woman said, as the crowd of women erupted in a cheer, ”Like dealing with all my exs at once…” Sam muttered as the woman continued, ”They shall compete for their survival and should they survive they will be rewarded!” Sam shook his head again and raised his hand, ”Permission to object challenges?” Sam asked only to be glared at by the woman. A spear was trusted into the ground in front of Sam, it made him jump back, ”Never mind!” Sam said quickly inching over to Gawain allowing slack to form in the chain.
”Guessing they want us to fight each other to the death?” Sam asked looking to Gawain, ”Or not…” Sam said as he heard another chain clanking off to one side of the arena as some females in similar garb came into the arena wielding weapons. [/font]
>>”…. Five more minutes… good dream… Ladies, no… well alright…Gross!... The hell?”
"Sam we don't have time for this" Gawain growled, ignoring the signs of disgust and scrambling to his feet. Moving around with one hand chained to another person (left hand to left hand, both a blessing and a nuisance) was harder than it looked.
>>”Yeah… Gawain think we got our answer on what happened to those missing people… Stay close and be ready for whatever they throw at us… don’t think it’s the party they were telling us about.”
"Oh I think this is exactly the kinda party they like." The young knight frowned, sizing up the audience, trying to seeif there was any good in trying to talk sense. It did not look promising.
>>“Warriors! We are gathered here today because we have gathered two more men! They shall compete for their survival and should they survive they will be rewarded!”
"I wonder what the reward is..." Gawain said cheekily, more to Sam than to the women "Our life?... Cocktails?... A medal?..." More half-naked women?...
A spear landed next to Sam, and a sword at Gawain's feet.
"I hate swords." he grunted, but he picked it up anyway. It had good balance, and an edge. beggars and choosers. "Make sure ya don't take my head off with that."
>>”Guessing they want us to fight each other to the death? Or not…”
"I think they make us fight those ladies..."
The female gladiators (gladiatrix?) were charging at them with loud cries, and it was obvious that they meant to use their weapons without and warning. Gawain sunk into a fighting stance and grabbed the chain with his left, gaining some control over it.

”Plan?” Sam asked grabbing the spear with his right and using his chained left to hold it for support. That was the problem with being chained and holding a double-handed weapon. ”Don’t get stabbed.” was Sam’s simple answer as he sized up a few of his opponents. Could he use his mutation and clear this little misunderstanding up? Probably but Sam didn’t know what exactly these women were capable of and he didn’t know exactly the rules to this game though he imagined at this point it was just to survive. The air-cooled down slightly and everyone became visible around him he kept the radius small however. Twenty feet around them that should be more than enough without him getting blinded by the fires upon the ledges or the masses of women in the crowd.
Sam looked up and spotted Jessica and Layla. ”Shame, they want us dead.” Sam said trying to stay calm lifting his free hand up and waving to both girls, ”Couple of cuties.” Sam said turning his body towards the women who were supposed to be their opponents. Lifting Spear up with his right hand Sam wrapped the chain around his left similar to what Gawain was doing. ”Smart thing dude.” was all Sam said before the first ‘warrior’ closed the distance.
”Just like the danger room exercises….” Sam said just as a battle axe was swung to his midsection. Sam frowned and slammed his spear point into the axe causing the woman who swung it to become off balance. Pulling on the chain slightly Sam felt the resistance from Gawain’s end as he turned the spear over and swiped the blunt end of the spear to the woman’s legs causing her to land on her back. ”Except these women are a little more real.”
Sarcasm was largely lost in the heat of the moment, but the X-men were not X-men untilt hey could banter in a life-and-death situation. Kind of went with the training.
>> ”Shame, they want us dead. Couple of cuties.”
"Tell me ya did not just cool the air because they are not wearing a bra."
The first warriors charged at them, and Sam deomnstrated surprising skill handling a spear with one hand. Gawain moved closer to allow room for the chain, but not close enough to get caught in the spear-swining. At least they had a generous amount of chain.
>> ”Smart thing dude. Just like the danger room exercises…. Except these women are a little more real.”
Gawain huffed in response as the woman who charged at him landed a blow on his arm. She only caught him with the flat of ehr sword, but with enough force to knock his own out of his hand. Gawain ducked and spun around, yanking on the chain.
"Heads up!" he yelled in a guff of breath before he threw the chain over the girl's head and around his shoulders, momentarily limiting her movements. Stepping on the chain, he reached for his sword on the ground.

Luckily Sam was skilled with a bo staff somewhat and in theory a spear wasn’t too different from it. The only difference was the metal point something that he had already grown slightly concerned about. Every time he was going to swing it he had to make sure Gawain and his sword was out of the way less he end up distracting his partner and that was the last thing he needed at the moment.
>>>"Tell me ya did not just cool the air because they are not wearing a bra."
”Happy Coincidence!” Sam retorted as another spear wielder came rushing in trying to jab him in the head with the pointing end of the spear. Dodging Sam managed to evade the thrusts as Gawain seemed to be doing a little dance number with another swords woman. ”Don’t lose your weapon unless you plan on picking another one up!” Sam lectured as he felt the chain move under Gawain’s movement. Fortuantly for Sam, Gawain gave him a heads up before he pulled on the chain.
Feeling the tug Sam spun with it allowing him to get a nice little arc with the spear. Due to the rotation of his hand being pulled along with his body Sam smacked the woman wielding the spear in the side with the flat staff of the spear. The wind was knocked out of her and Sam recovered jumping backwards towards Gawain.
It was impossible at this point to sneak up on them due to Sam’s mutation something he was putting to use. Every time his back was turned he noticed one or more of the women would try to attack his blind spot and Gawain’s. ”They fight like a pack of dogs, waiting for one to distract while the others jump in when the time is right!” Sam said, ”Just keep moving and duck!” Sam said throwing his spear up over Gawain’s head to block an incoming strike from another sword.
>> ”Don’t lose your weapon unless you plan on picking another one up!”
"Yes Master" Gawain growled, ducking under Sam's spear strike to snatch the sword up again. The girl he had wrapped in the chains yanked herself free with an angry cry and struck out at him, barely missing his shoulder. The next blow he blosked with his sword, and he could tell from the impact that she had meant it. Standing up he returned the blow and hit her on the forehead with the hilt of his sword.
I hate hitting women.
>>”They fight like a pack of dogs, waiting for one to distract while the others jump in when the time is right! Just keep moving and duck!”
"Yeah... about that..."
Gawain blocked another blow, but then doubled over, a familiar tingling filling his body.
"Sh*t."
Apparently they had been out longer than he expected. Midnight approached. Gawain had shifted during a fight before, but always in training, and it had never been a pleasant experience. Gripping the sword tighter he ducked on instinct as the shift started to ripple through his body.

Sam ignored the ‘yes master’ comment it was hard to lecture in the midst of battle but it was even harder to give Gawain the ‘listen to me or you’ll end up dead’ look so he ignored it that was the best response for now other wise one of them might end up dead. Sam dodged a thrust and parried the next incoming blow as two of the warriors were swinging at him. Sam was on the verge of trying to sweep one of them with the blunt end of the spear before he heard Gawain curse and double over.
”Really great timing.” Sam said more to himself than to Gawain who didn’t really have a say so when he shifted. Taking a few steps closer to Gawain, or rather Maya now he lifted the spear to his side and waited for someone to make an attempt. He waited feeling all the body temperatures around him not being able to see the weapons however put him at a disadvantage luckily the ones behind him were only holding swords that much he could tell by the way their hands were moving one of the perks of having the training he had.
One of the best things about Sam having Gawain/Maya as a student and in his opinion at this point in time a friend for such a long period of time Sam knew he/she’s weaknesses like the back of his hand meaning he could easily compensate for any shortcomings she/he had. Like shifting, it didn’t take too long for Gawain to shift into Maya or vise versa but it did put him/her at a major disadvantage meaning she currently wasn’t exactly capable of defending herself till the shift was over. ”No rush.” Sam said as he felt a woman from behind them try to bring a sword down with his back turned.
Sam shifted his weight and spun sending the blunt end of the spear into the woman’s midsection as another woman was charging his back again this time axe going for the currently shifting Maya. ”She’s busy!” Sam said as he spun again this time sending the point of the spear towards the woman’s hands managing to not only cut her right hand but make her unable to wield the two-handed axe as effectively.
The warriors gathered around them continued to circle them as Sam felt ever movement from them. He shifted his weight and waited for someone else to strike but now that they realized that it wouldn’t be that easy to sneak up on Sam or attack the shifting Maya while neither were looking they hesitated slightly.
Maya let out a breathless laugh as the last waves of the shifting subsided. Her newly long hair fell in her face, and she drew a few shaky breaths, steadying herself. She could sense Sam standing over her and parrying blows over her head. Good ol' Sam. They made such a good team in a death arena of Amazons.
"Sooo..." she exhaled finally, standing up straight and stretching, mostly to shake her newly ill-fitting clothes into shape. She swung her sword around lazily, and used her free hand to comb the hair out of her eyes "... ladies, where were we?..."

It took a few seconds but Sam heard the laugh and turned his back to Maya’s who was already swinging her sword and brushing the hair out of her face. Sam smirked when all the women were looking at the pair of them or rather Maya but by extension Sam as well seeing as he was standing in front of her. ”Talk about a show stopper…” Sam said lifting the spear and holding it forward waiting for someone to come in for an attack.
No one moved and Sam shifted his eye to the spot where Layla, Jessica and the announcer woman were sitting and watching the spectacle with utter amazement again he chalked it up to everyone being impressed with Maya. All three of the woman in the separate sitting area all had their jaws opened. Sam blinked once and shifted uncomfortably, ”So…. Do they want a bow from you or what?” Sam asked Maya as he noticed a few of the warriors in the pit shifted their attentions to Sam and raised their weapons. He raised his spear and waited for a second before he heard the woman’s voice again echo out through the pit.
“Warriors!” the woman called out, the warriors in the pit turned to watch and see what she had to say. ”Money she’s the queen bee.” Sam muttered to Maya as the woman continued, “It seems these travelers my daughter has found have a few surprises for us. Not only is one of them a fellow sister but it seems the male is somewhat skilled with a spear.” Sam tried hard not to laugh only letting out a small ”heh” “So I say these two pass the challenge!” Sam crouched as the warriors in the pit lifted their weapons and lot a cheer as many of the woman in the stands did the same.
Lowering his weapon slightly Sam waited to see what was going to happen next. “Gather those two and take them to my chambers there are matters I wish to discuss with them.” Sam didn’t let go of the spear but kept a firm grip on it till he noticed that Layla and Jessica departed with her, ”Maybe we should go with them? Always wanted to meet royalty.” Sam said laughing, ”Doubt they’d give us much of a choice.” Sam said noticing a few women in the stands with arrows pointed in his direction.
Reluctantly dropping his weapon Sam nudged Maya to do the same.
>>”Talk about a show stopper... So…. Do they want a bow from you or what?”
"I get that a lot" Maya muttered, keeping her eyes on the warriors, ready to jump back into the battle. In the meantime, she nodded to the astonished audience. The lady in the VIP booth started to speak.
>>”Money she’s the queen bee.”
"Geez, what gave ya that idea?"
>>“It seems these travelers my daughter has found have a few surprises for us. Not only is one of them a fellow sister but it seems the male is somewhat skilled with a spear. So I say these two pass the challenge!”
Sam snorted, and Maya followed suit. She had never thought of herself as a 'sister' especially not when it came to scantily clad fighty women. Hm. But she would take any chance that would get her out of the arena, and the chains.
>>“Gather those two and take them to my chambers there are matters I wish to discuss with them.”
>>”Maybe we should go with them? Always wanted to meet royalty. Doubt they’d give us much of a choice.”
"Yeah, let's go. Maybe they will feed us more sleeping pills." Maya sighed, dropping the sword, and wrapping the chain around her hand to keep from tripping over it.
The gang of amazons that were so intent on killing the two of them just moments before escorted the two X-men out of the arena and into a lofty tent with all the comforts of the Arabian Nights inside. There they met the trio of VIP women, and even though they were left alone with them, it was obvious that the rest were standing guard outside.

Sam almost instinctively wrapped the chain around his wrists the same time Maya did it was in their best interest to keep the slack on the chains non-existent in such close proximity worse case scenario he could just left Maya and run. Though unless he activated his mutation other than just feeling everyone’s body heat they probably wouldn’t get far and he was pretty sure Maya wouldn’t be thrilled with him.
Slowly Maya, Sam and their escorts who just seconds ago were trying to kill them were calmly walking them towards a giant tent. Sam looked around and let out a low whistle as he spotted mismatching pillows and all the accommodations you never would have pictured in a ‘deserted island hut’ clearly these were all gathered from raiding ships. Maya was the first to speak and the queen bee smiled to her with affection before shifting her attention to Sam who simply gave a small wave to Jessica and Layla first then the queen. The sound of his manacles jangling as he gave his small wave. ”Soooo….” Sam started as the queen raised a hand and cut him off.
“Do not speak out of turn!” Sam blinked then looked to Maya who clearly didn’t speak out of turn before he added anything he spotted Jessica the brunette shaking her head slightly. Sam nodded his head gave the thumbs up and put his index finger to his lips getting the message. Both the girls in the tent smirked while the queen rolled her eyes. It was clear she had no love for men. ‘Lucky for Maya’ Sam thought as he waited for the queen to continue. “Let me just start by congratulating you sister, you and the male on a job well done. It’s not every day our warriors are bested.” Sam remained silent tempted to say his name but spotted Jessica shaking her head again as Layla just stared him down. Clearly the blonde took after the queen.
“As such we shall celebrate in your honor as a proud warrior. Next I want to apologize for drugging you, if we knew you were a sister we wouldn’t have put you into the arena hopefully you can forgive us.” Sam shifted his weight and felt out of place it was clear Maya was the center of attention so he tried to take a step back out from the watchful eyes of the three woman. He closed his eye and felt the heat from all the bodies outside of the tent. A few more warriors were stationed around the tent it was clear that they were ready for anything other than a pair of mutants both of which were now in the tent.
Whoa. Maya was almost amused that a woman would talk to Sam like that. Whatever their problem was, the X-leader's charm was clearly lost on these women. Maya found herself suddenly liking them a little bit more.
>>“Let me just start by congratulating you sister, you and the male on a job well done. It’s not every day our warriors are bested. As such we shall celebrate in your honor as a proud warrior. Next I want to apologize for drugging you, if we knew you were a sister we wouldn’t have put you into the arena hopefully you can forgive us.”
Maya refrained from pointing it out that they had not bested anybody as much as stunned them with her shifting into a female form. Details. She decided to make the best of the situation.
"I will trade your apology for an explanation" she said, holding her chin up "Also, I would ask that you remove out chains. We did not come here to fight. If you claim me as a sister, then let's talk like sisters."
As if Maya as an only child had any idea what that would be like...

The queen stared at Maya for a second then nodded her head, “Jessica, remove her chains I very much like this one.” She said nodding her head in approval Jessica walked over to Maya passing Sam and trying not to meet his gaze. Her eyes shifted downward towards Maya’s chains and she produced a key from her side and unchained the gender shifter. Sam slowly took a step closer to Maya hoping he too would be unchained but wasn’t. Jessica looked up to meet his gaze then turned on her heels and walked back to the queen who was staring at Sam. “Men shall remain in chains on my island.” She said without further explanation something Sam didn’t really feel like pressing especially with the guards outside the tent.
“Now have a seat, Layla fetch her food and water.” The queen dismissed the blonde and then smiled to Maya, “I’ll have her test it first in good faith.” The queen smiled then looked to Sam, “Where did you find this male? He fights well and has a splendid frame if only he learned that he was better seen and not heard.” Sam jingled the chains and wrapped them around his wrists making sure the slack was pretty much non-existent of course this meant that his wrists were covered. The queen rolled her eyes. “Jessica get him some shorter chains, I can’t think with his racket.”
Sam shifted and winked to Jessica who shortly followed the blonde out of the tent. Tempted to sit Sam looked back at the nearest pillow and pointed to it then looked back to the queen. It was obvious she was ignoring Sam so he just stood there as the two ‘women’ decided to talk. “Now, what kind of explanation are you looking for my dear, oh and if you can’t control your male can you send him outside?”
>> “Jessica, remove her chains I very much like this one... Men shall remain in chains on my island.”
All right, the ladies obviously had some serious daddy issues around here. Maya silently prayed that this whole deal would be over with before she shifted back to Gawain.
>>“Now have a seat, Layla fetch her food and water. I’ll have her test it first in good faith.”
Way back to the Middle Ages. Cozy. She was aware that Sam was rattling his chains, but this time, she had the better chances as controlling the damage done.
>>“Where did you find this male? He fights well and has a splendid frame if only he learned that he was better seen and not heard. Jessica get him some shorter chains, I can’t think with his racket.”
Maya swallowed a snort. With all the seriousness of crazy women killing tourists for funzies, the way they were treating Sam was amusing. One could have called it poetic justice, although Sam had never been violent with the ladies. Quite the opposite.
>>“Now, what kind of explanation are you looking for my dear, oh and if you can’t control your male can you send him outside?”
"Oh I can control him" Maya shrugged, not even looking back "Sam, put your ass down and do shut up. Let the women talk."
She bit back the laugh, but it tickled down her spine.
"Well, I guess I would like to know what made you all fine ladies move out here to the middle of nowhere. Also, if you could enlighten me about your rules on males on the island, that would be great. I would hate to make a mistake."
