The X-men run missions and work together with the NYPD, striving to maintain a peaceful balance between humans and mutants. When it comes to a fight, they won't back down from protecting those who need their help.
Haven presents itself as a humanitarian organization for activists, leaders, and high society, yet mutants are the secret leaders working to protect and serve their kind. Behind the scenes they bring their goals into reality.
From the time when mutants became known to the world, SUPER was founded as a black-ops division of the CIA in an attempt to classify, observe, and learn more about this new and rising threat.
The Syndicate works to help bring mutantkind to the forefront of the world. They work from the shadows, a beacon of hope for mutants, but a bane to mankind. With their guiding hand, humanity will finally find extinction.
Since the existence of mutants was first revealed in the nineties, the world has become a changed place. Whether they're genetic misfits or the next stage in humanity's evolution, there's no denying their growing numbers, especially in hubs like New York City. The NYPD has a division devoted to mutant related crimes. Super-powered vigilantes help to maintain the peace. Those who style themselves as Homo Superior work to tear society apart for rebuilding in their own image.

Eventually, Omen decided she'd had enough excitement for the day and came back to the room. She sat on the edge of the bed and rubbed her face vigorously with her hands before sighing and leaning back. She didn't mean to but she fell asleep.
After recruiting the twins and then briefly speaking with Lady Natalie Syn decided to go relax in her room. She checked one more time with Lisa and headed off.
When she opened the door she was met witha surprise. Omen was back but she was asleep. Syn closed the door and got up on her bed. She brushed away a few stray hairs that were laying on Omen's face. Then Syn layed on her bed so that she was upside down and put her head even with Omen's as she watched the other woman sleep.
There was a sparrow in the ventilation system. Why? Well, funny you should ask. Let’s start with Stupid Scary Fun-Ruining Boss Men, casually mention theft from a young woman’s room of her personal possessions, and end with an urge not to explode. Additionally, he liked sparrow form more than monkey for this, now that he could fly—no tell-tale noises of nails scampering along the metal vents. There was the trade-off of having the slightest whisper of wing beats, but if he was faced with mutants that had super hearing, none of his forms would be perfect. Also, he felt a little like he was in Star Wars. That scene in the first movie, where they attacked the Deathstar—he was navigating the tight space of the ventilation system like a true dogfighter. Albeit a very little one. Who was holding a scrap of backpack fabric in his beak.
Rewind, and play:
He’d been twitching in the backseat of a black jeep, getting chauffeured over to the Mansion by Charles. Cut in with a very deadly-serious Boss Man, speaking through the Triforce on Calley’s necklace. His newest mission: steal Syn’s hairbrush. His timeline: ASAP or sooner. His fun trip to the Mansion: delayed.
Stupid Mansion. Not like he’d been practically bouncing in his seat with eagerness to get there and register as a student.
So they’d turned around, and made for the Sanctuary. Charles, it should be noted, was less than sympathetic. They’d dug the mini-monkey backpack out from the compartment in the backseat (was that a rocket launcher? Calley was pretty sure that was a rocket launcher), isolated the little fingernail sized device that made sure cameras within a hundred feet of him wouldn’t be seeing anything incriminating—or anything much at all, really—and torn it out. Hence the scrap of fabric in his beak. It was so much easier to fly to the roof of the Sanctuary than it was to climb. Monkey form to get in the vents, then back to sparrow for the trip to Syn’s room.
Stupid Syn. She was ruining his amazing Mansion academic experience.
He found the room itself with ease—he happened to know where everyone in the Sanctuary lived. Even the humans on the upper levels. Though, perhaps, it would be more correct to say that Kitten knew. Calley shifted to monkey, and stared out of the grating. It was, he decided, a stupid room. She had fairy posters on her walls. Seriously stupid. The stuffed cats here and there redeemed her slightly, but the fact that she didn’t seem to care for real kitties like Kitten dropped her back down. Stupid.
He stretched his senses, trying to catch whiff or footstep of either Syn or Omen. They weren’t in the room. And from the smell of it, they hadn’t been for a bit. That hardly guaranteed that they wouldn’t burst in at an inconvenient moment, but meh... what was a monkey to do? He unscrewed the grating cover, and let himself loose on the place.
Ooo, nice carpet. It felt good between his toes. Umm, but less pawing at the squishy red floor, and more locating of the woman’s hairbrush. Stupid Syn. He just had to look for the stupidest hairbrush in the room—that’d be hers. ‘Cause she was stupid.
Desktop rummaging and drawer opening and general pawing... and he found it, finally, in the bathroom, sitting on the sink counter. He turned it over in his little monkey paws, eyeing it critically. Indeed. It was a stupid hairbrush. And it was full of stupid hair. He sniffed it—yep, definitely Syn’s. Couldn’t mistake that stupid fun-ruining smell. Feeling vindictive, he dropped the brush off of the sink top, and jumped after it. He was only planning to take a few hairs—by “get the hairbrush”, Calley was betting Hunter meant “I want that woman’s DNA because I’m a Creepy Scary Stupid Man”. The brush itself would be a bit hard to carry out of the building. But he didn’t particularly feel like leaving it where the woman was ever going to find it. So he was planning to take the hairs, and leave the brush locked up in the Sanctuary's ventilation system. Just for kicks. And because it might make him feel better.
He wrapped his long tail around the brush of the handle, and started dragging it across the floor after himself, out of the bathroom. If he finished this stupid mission quickly, he might still make it to the stupid Mansion today. Today being a stupid day, in case anyone held any doubts.
((ooc: Oh! Not sure if you've been following the "Learning to Heal" thread, but this is a few days after your "Infirmary" thread took place, since Hunter was juggling those two like they were concurrent. )
The door unlocked and opened as Syn pushed her way in. The little meeting in the Infirmary had given her a slight headache and she wanted to relax for awhile. The thoughts of listening to her music and just laying on her bed sounded wonderful, but that was all put to a stop when she spotted some sort of monkey dragging her hair brush out of the bathroom.
"Just what do you think you're doing with my brush?!" The girl slammed the door behind her and locked it to seal at least one possible exit. "Come here furball!"

Calley
Calley didn't panic when Syn came in. He didn't even panic when she closed and locked the door behind her. All he did was chitter a laugh, and run for the open vent across the room.
At which point the bristles of the hairbrush got snagged on that nice comfy red carpet of hers. Since this happened when he was at a dead run... the effect was something like a catapult. A reverse catapult. He sort of got jerked back, lost his balance, and ended up rolling a few feet.
Towards Syn.
This would be when the panic began.
He looked up at the woman, and made cute "I'm just a trained thievin' monkey" eyes at the young woman. Innocent monkey eyes might have been a better choice, in retrospect. Or maybe just running. Speaking of that...
...More running. Now. He clambered to his little monkey feet, and made a good attempt at bolting.
Watching the little momkey get launched backwards almost got Syn to laugh but she was too pissed that there was an intruder in her room trying to steal her stuff.
She watched the creature roll across the floor close to her. It looked up at the girl but whatever emotion it was trying to convey wasn't recieved.
The monkey quickly got to it's feet in an attempt to get away. Not wasting time talking Syn snatched up one of her boots by the door and flung it at the furball. Both her boot and the monkey collided which sent the monkey tumbling again as Syn gave chase. "Give me my brush back you flea bag!"

Calley
Calley snatched up the hairbrush in his tail as he ran past, and--
--and got hit in the back of the head with a boot. A boot! A boot. Seriously, whose first reaction to seeing a monkey in their room was to yell and throw a boot? He wasn't sure whether the impact shock or the situational shock kept him from getting his feet back under him, but he was down for the moment, and feeling a little dazzed. He wobbled back to his feet, and... found that the hairbrush was stuck again. He started tugging on it, quite intent to get it to the vent. Through his boot-induced daze, all he could think was, This is stupid.
The boot trick worked luckily which gave Syn the time to bear down on the monkey's position. The brush had snagged on the carpet again. Another lost moment in time for the monkey. It was pulling to free the brush. That is until the girl stomped down on the monkey's left arm and pinned it to the floor. "Now hand it over or your head will be next!" Syn raised her other foot and aimed it for the creature's fragile little skull.

Calley
Gah-! Freaking violent scary stupid women were freaking violent scary stupid! Calley saw her other foot descending, but his little monkey arm was well and truly pinned. I'm gonna die I'm gonna die I'm gonna die-- He shifted to sparrow; his form became smaller, and his arm distinctly less pinned. New problem: he had no way of carrying the hairbrush as a sparrow and no real way to get the hair out of it with a freaking violent scary woman trying to crush his skull in using various uncreative but highly effective means. Slightly bigger problem: his wing didn't appreciate that whole pinning-thing it had gone through as a monkey arm; it simply refused to bend correctly. Biggest problem: he'd just shifted in front of Syn. And he didn't have the hair sample. Hunter was going to kill him. I'm gonna die I'm gonna die I'm gonna die-- He hop-ran under her bed, putting himself in the hardest to reach spot physically possible. Slate Slate Slate Slate help--
This is entertaining. Heh.
I hate you I hate you I hate you--[/i]
His wing wasn't actually broken--just abused, and numb. He flexed it under the bed. He needed it operational, and fast--the vent was close, but Syn... Syn was freaking violent scary closer.
Just when Syn thought she was going to have a dead monkey on her hands the thing changed forms. A sight that shocked the girl to be sure. A mutant animal, or a mutant in animal form? Well, which ever it is it's now trapped under her bed and without her brush which she picked up and put in her night stand drawer. "Whatever you are you're not getting out of here. I can wait for just as long as you can stay under my bed."

Calley
And Calley could keep getting his wing back in flying form while she waited. He snerked, which came out as a trill of chirps. He experimentally fluttered his wings. Let's hear three cheers for banging his little birdie head against the underside of her bed! He had a headache, and you know what else? Flight capacity.
He ran for the edge of the bed. Just as he stepped out from under it, he took to the air, making a swallow beeline along the floor for the open vent across the room. If he could get into that... well, he'd be amused if Syn tried to get violent and scary while crawling after him in a vent.
He made it, safely. Apparently she didn't have anymore boots on hand to clobber a poor innocent spy with. He scooped up the scrap of fabric with the camera jamming device in it from the floor of the vent, and set off into the metal labyrinth with a sense of triumph. He had escaped the Great and Vile Scary Violent Syn-Woman! Ha!
...Now to escape Hunter's wrath for not escaping with a few strands of her hair. Soooo... that Mansion trip of his. It seemed like an excellent idea. Right now.
Now that the strange shape shifting creature was gone Syn resealed her vent and then had one of the repairmen weld it shut.
After straightening her room and putting everything away Syn decided to go work out for a bit. So she changed into a red tank top put on a pair of black shorts and headed out for the gymnasium. As she opened her door she noticed a jewel encrusted dagger stuck in her door frame. Had it been there before? She must've missed it when she entered her room earlier. She pulled it out of the door frame and placed it in her night stand then continued on to the Gymnasium after locking her door.
After the meeting and after discussing a few things with Lisa Syn finally returned to her room. She missed her room. This was the only place that let her feel like a normal girl. With Sanctuary being her home now her room was her personal sanctuary. A place were she could relax and feel comfortable.
Syn closed her door and locked it. She then walked to her bed and flopped down onto it backwards. Reaching to the end table she picked up her stereo remote and turned it on. Selecting to listen to Nightwish she closed her eyes and let the lyrics form images in her mind's eye.
Man, that was a waste. Shade thought as he made his way back to his room. He had decided to walk back as he wanted to make sure he knew where some stuff was at. Hearing the distant sound of music blaring, Shade decided to investigate. Stepping into a dark corner, the now invisible mutant reached out, searching for a patch of black somewhere near the music. Finding it, he smirked slightly as he teleported.
Shade had been guessing a small corner or shadow casting by a piece of furniture. Instead, he got a pitch black closet. Searching for the door, Shade turned to his left only to be tripped by an unseen object. He crashed through some things before being stopped by the wall. Taking a second to breath, Shade tried to manuever, but this time a fallen shirt attached itself to his leg causing him to trip again. This time Shade managed to smash into the closed door. A muffled groan could be heard before he finally found the handle and came tumbling out with a pile of clothes.
((OOC: Since you crashed my room I hope you don't mind me god modding a little bit))
The sound of something suddenly crashing in her closet caused Syn to sit up rather abruptly. Another crashing sound came from within her closet. At this point Syn wasn't sure what it was. If it was another shapeshifting creature she was going to squeeze the life out of it with her bare hands.
A few brief moments later the closet door opened and out fell Shade with Syn's clothes tangled all around him like a marrionette. Rage built up inside Syn as the scene burned it's image into her brain. Her fists clenched tightly until her knuckles turned white. Her pheremones began to fill the room at a furious rate. Syn was about to make sure it was well known not to disturb her when she was in her room unless it was important or an emergency.
Relaxing her fists Syn's expression seemed to calm down. Casually she got off her bed and walked over to Shade. Grabbing him up by his lapel she gave the guy a glimpse of her rarely seen but impressive strength and held him up off the floor. By this time her pheremones were in full affect and she narrowed her eyes as her tone came out with great severity. "Shade, you might be part of our group and yes I know you're new around here, but no one and I mean no one crashes into my room like that. So now you're going to learn a little lesson."
Syn focused to make Shade feel utter terror to the point that he was shaking like a scared child. "I want you to remember this moment Shade. It only gets worse from here if you ever do that again."
Setting him down on the floor so that Shade was standing Syn got her tangled clothes of the guy. She threw them on her bed so she coudl sort them out later. Then turning back to Shade she grabbed him by his arm and forced him to the room door. Opening her door Syn shoved Shade out of her room and slammed the door shut.
