Ty smiled, actually wishing he could have more times like this. It was fun, relaxing, and there was nothing stressful about it whatsoever. Scanning the racks, he picked up a dark green hoodie and threw it over his arm before walking to the checkout counter.

"Well, I think that's it," he said. "We need to do stuff like this more though. It was alot of fun," The smile on his face was very much akin to that of a small child spending his first bit of time with a new sibling. But in a sense it was just like that. He led her back to the subway, down through JC Penney again. As they got on the train, his mind was wandering and it sort of made him sad.

The young pickpocket couldn't grasp why their father had done this to them. It was just another life the jerk had ruined, Ty guessed.

Butterfly kept looking around and then noticed that Ty had found what he was looking for and followed him when she noticed that he was heading to the checkout counter. When Ty told her that they needed to do stuff together more often, Butterfly smiled and nodded her head. "We should do something like this on a regular basis. Its a good way for us to spend time together and get to know each other better too." This was the most fun she had ever had. She loved having a brother and was overjoyed that he wanted to spend time with her.

Butterfly followed Ty back down the escalator to JC Penny and then out to the subway to the train. She got on the train and sat down next to Ty and thought about how happy she really was. Her father may have never been there for her and may have been a horrible father for Ty too, but at least they had each other. And that was the only thing that mattered now. That they have each other and wouldn't let the other go.

Ty sat on the train, feeling alot better than he did that morning. And come to find out, he really enjoyed shopping, especially with his sister. And she could pick out some awesome shades.

When the subway reached their stop, he got off, carrying his bags as they began the walk back to her apartment. But as he walked, a thought hit him, and it nearly brought tears to his eyes.

"Hey, Chloe?" he asked, looking over at her. "You think if our old man wasn't such a jerk, maybe I, or we, would have turned out differently?" His eyes were soft as his usually icy gaze met hers.

Butterfly rode on the train with Ty until they got to the stop. Butterfly got off carrying her own bags and followed Ty back to her apartment. She was still thinking about how much fun she had been having with Ty and about her having someone to spend time with and to love when suddenly Ty called her name and looked over at her. She jerked her head up and looked at him from where she had been thinking and said, "Yeah, Ty? and then listened to what he wanted to ask her. After he got his question, she pondered about it for a moment and then replied "Of course we would have been different. Past experiences change our personality and behavior, but there's nothing we can do to change the past we do have. But we can enjoy the people and good experiences we do have. Besides, if he was different, then I would never have you. And if I had to choose between having a dad or not having one, but getting to have you, then I'd choose to have you all over again." She smiled and gave her brother a long sentimental hug, something she thought that he really needed at that moment.

Ty hugged her back, closing his eyes tightly as he did so. "I just wish I'd known about you sooner. Had a sister before now, ya know? I mean there are several moments in my life where I sure coulda used somebody like that." Releasing the hug, he wiped his eyes and continued walking.

"After meeting you, I hate him so much more. I'm sorry it's just....you deserved better than that," he murmured as they reached her apartment.

Butterfly nodded her head in agreement and said "I know, Ty. Me too. But at lease we have each other now." when Ty talked about wishing they had known each other sooner. It would have been nice to have a brother to keep her company and to share things with when she was younger. When Ty released the hug and wiped his eyes, Butterfly smiled at him and kissed his cheek. "You're the best family I've ever had, Ty. You are such a wonderful brother. I enjoy spending time with you and I'm glad that I have you." and she started to continue walking with him.

When he mentioned hating their dad more and telling her that she deserved better, Butterfly smiled slightly and said "Yeah I know, but so do you. I never actually had to be around him, which I guess protected me in a way, but you had to be around him and deal with him being so horrible. You deserved a better dad more than I do. I'm so sorry that you had to deal with him and that your childhood wasn't better, but at least you're away from him now and you don't have to see him ever again."

Ty smiled at the comfort, blinking at the kiss on the cheek. It was something he hadn't felt since he was ten, from his mother. He leaned against the wall next to her door, biting his lip and clenching his eyes shut.

"Thanks..." he murmured, pulling his stuffed tiger out of his jacket and clinging to it as tears began to stream down his face. The young man slumped to the floor, now missing his Mom more than he had in a long, long time. He didn't want to do this, not now, not in front of her.

But there were just some times when it just had to all come out.

Butterfly looked at Ty and knew that he was about to cry. She could tell. When Ty pulled out his tiger and began to sob, Butterfly sat next to him in front of the apartment and just hugged him and held him close. She patted his back and tried to be as good a sister as she could. She wanted to be there for him.

"Awwwww, what did I do to make you cry Ty?" She tried to just sit and hold him until he stopped crying. She had never seen the tiger before and thought she would ask about it, not knowing if it would make things better or worse. "I like your tiger. It's really cute. Where did you get it?"

Ty leaned into her embrace, stifling the tears but still sobbing every now and then. "It's nothing you did...it's just...well that sort of reminded me of my Mom..." he murmured. "Nothing bad, she's just the only one who's ever kissed my cheek like that. I didn't mean to break down it just....sometimes I still miss her, even though it's been ten years..."

Wiping his eyes, he picked up his bags and walked into her apartment, sitting in his favorite spot on the couch, just resting a moment as he rubbed his eyes some more.

"My mom gave it to me for my tenth birthday....about a month before she died..."

Butterfly just continues to hug him and comfort him. She didn't mean to upset him. She listened as best she could to him through his sobs. She felt so back for him. She knew that his Mom meant a lot to him and losing her was the worst thing to ever happen to him. Even though they had just recently met, Butterfly couldn't imagine losing her brother. She didn't know what she would do if that ever happened. She walked with him into the apartment and sat next to him on the couch. "I"m so sorry, Ty. I didn't mean to..." when Ty mentioned that the tiger came from his Mom and so soon before she died. Butterfly felt terrible and started to cry.

"It's not your fault," Ty replied. "I just...I never really got to say good-bye. She said she'd be right back, and that she had to go to the store. On the way there she was sideswiped by an 18-wheeler....she never came back...And my life was never the same..."

He clenched his eyes tight as tears began to flow again.

Butterfly held him close and cried with him. She felt so bad for him. She tried to comfort him as best as she could but felt like there was nothing she could do but just be there for him. She listened as he talked and couldn't help but wish that Ty had a better life. He deserved better. She may not have had a dad, but she had a mom that cared, even if she was never around. At least she liked to hope so. She loved her brother so much and wanted to be the best sister she could be. She didn't wanna bring up anymore of his past. It seemed like too much of a touchy subject and would only make things worse. "I'm sorry Ty. At least I'm here for you. I'll be here for you no matter what. Whenever you need me."

She waited a few moments and rubbed his back and played with his hair slightly to try and calm him down." I love you Ty."

Ty snuggled into her, relaxing considerably as she cried with him. "I love you too, sis," he answered, the words easily rolling off his tongue and out of his mouth. So easily that at first he hadn't realized what he said it. This was a different kind of love than he was used to. For awhile, he'd forgotten what love even felt like. Then he found Tses's brand of love. Sure, she could be brittle and hard to approach, but that love was there when he needed it most.

But this...this was constant. There wasn't a single moment today where he doubted if his little sister adored him. And when put to the test, she came through. Even if he didn't mean to have an emotional breakdown after their fun day together."Thanks."

Butterfly smiled as she heard him say I love you too. She never really had someone to share that kind of love with, but her brother meant more to her than any of the family that she was around before she came to New York. She hugged him hard and then sat in front of him and ruffled his hair some teasingly.

When he said Thanks, Butterfly just smiled and shook her head, "You're my brother. I do it because I love you and you've always been there when I was scared or needed it." She didn't want the day to end, but she knew that Ty would have to go back and see Tses. Maybe one day they could all get together and be a family. Butterfly smiled as she thought about all of them being her family. The family that she should have had a long time ago.

Ty hugged her back, having to smile as she messed up his hair. Then he took a deep breath as she spoke.

"Maybe. I mean I've been your brother all your life, I just didn't know it. But I've known you all of two days. I mean....what if I let you down? What if I turn out like that piece of trash and fail you when you need me most?" His voice was soft, yet worried.
