The X-men run missions and work together with the NYPD, striving to maintain a peaceful balance between humans and mutants. When it comes to a fight, they won't back down from protecting those who need their help.
Haven presents itself as a humanitarian organization for activists, leaders, and high society, yet mutants are the secret leaders working to protect and serve their kind. Behind the scenes they bring their goals into reality.
From the time when mutants became known to the world, SUPER was founded as a black-ops division of the CIA in an attempt to classify, observe, and learn more about this new and rising threat.
The Syndicate works to help bring mutantkind to the forefront of the world. They work from the shadows, a beacon of hope for mutants, but a bane to mankind. With their guiding hand, humanity will finally find extinction.
Since the existence of mutants was first revealed in the nineties, the world has become a changed place. Whether they're genetic misfits or the next stage in humanity's evolution, there's no denying their growing numbers, especially in hubs like New York City. The NYPD has a division devoted to mutant related crimes. Super-powered vigilantes help to maintain the peace. Those who style themselves as Homo Superior work to tear society apart for rebuilding in their own image.

Just as things were about to get good the proverbial brakes were hit as the girl realized they never introduced themselves to one another. It was alright though and Syn smiled taking note that the girl really must’ve been upset to just start talking about things. Then again, maybe she was a talkative sort naturally and all Syn had to do was make her feel comfortable like complimenting on their sharing of the color red.
“My name is Syn and you are?” The dark lady wore a welcoming expression over her face as she waiting little Kaitlyn’s response.

"Kaitlyn Faust," she replied. "I'm Lori's daughter." The fact that she was adopted wasn't really worth mentioning.
There was a pause as the girl tried to formulate the most delicate way to phrase her next question. "Do you work with her?" With the way this 'Syn' was dressed, there was only one thing 'working with Lori' could plausibly mean.
...You've heard stories about me? Don't listen to them! It's safe to sit next to me, really!
Trying to think back to the one and only time Syn and Lori met there wasn’t any mention of a daughter. Then again neither of them discussed family relations at that time. “I see. Nice to meet you Kaitlyn.” This might be worth looking into further.
Syn thought on Kaitlyn’s question. Since being back she hadn’t seen or heard from Lori, but then being part of the Order pretty much covered the lack of communication. “You could say that. I’ve been gone for quite some time and just recently returned. By the looks of things you were in a similar situation.” Syn gestured towards the gear the girl had brought with her.

So, Kaitlyn hadn't been spilling the beans to somebody she couldn't trust. This was a good sign. Now she could talk about what she'd been doing more freely.
"Yeah. I've been living with that future-telling guy and his family for couple months so far. He thinks he's trying to stop Sebastian from destroying the world. So, Lori's been having me keep an eye on those guys while I helped those guys keep an eye on Sebastian's cult."
She sighed. "That's why I have to put up with his crap."
Sebastian. That was a name she had heard before, but she couldn’t put a face with it. He was trying to destroy the world? “Why is Sebastian trying to destroy the world?” Depending on his motives this may or may not be something else to look into. Syn had a brief feeling of loss since she had been out of touch for so long she missed so much and was playing catch up now.

That. That was a tricky question, right there. Kaitlyn had to think about it before answering.
"Actually... I don't really think he's trying to destroy the world. He and his followers seem to think they're trying to save it. I've done so much community service with them. I don't think they'd do all that, then try to end the world. I think the Oracle saw them ending the world in the future by accident, somehow, and he's trying to stop that from happening."
She thought a bit more. "Or, maybe Sebastian really is trying to end the world, and I'll find out why when I get into their... weird... inner-circle thing, I guess."
...You've heard stories about me? Don't listen to them! It's safe to sit next to me, really!
“Careful what you might think my dear. Just because they do community service doesn’t mean there’s more going on behind the scenes. Look at Sanctuary and The Order for example.” Syn pondered that maybe there was someone else using a similar tactic to how at least the former Order operated behind the open arms appeal of Sanctuary. Part of her felt a little pride while another part felt ripped off. “So the Oracle…is that the person you’ve been living with who can see the future?”

It made Kaitlyn feel a bit uncomfortable to hear the word 'Order' spoken out loud in place where someone else could have heard it, but at least it confirmed her suspicion. Plus, that was a pretty good point about the community service. "...I guess," she shrugged.
Then, she looked around. Nobody was around to hear Syn mention the Order, other than Lisa. That was good. She began to suspect that she took the whole 'Order secrecy' thing more seriously than she needed to.
"Yeah. But just 'cause he can see the future doesn't mean he ever tells anyone else much about it, unless it's about how Sebastian ends the world. Or he'll show you if you pay him money first, and your name isn't Kaitlyn." That last part was something that never failed to tick Kaitlyn off.

Gauging by Kaitlyn’s reaction to Syn mentioning the Order she could tell the girl knew to keep such a thing a secret. She passed the test and Syn smiled. It was good to see the girl took that topic seriously.
“Can’t blame him for making sure he’s not cheated I suppose. So you’re trying to get into their secret inner circle to find out more about Sebastian’s plans?”

"Basically. That's kinda why he tricked me into killing that guy: to impress Sebastian by saving his followers."
"So, that's pretty much what I've been doing." Kaitlyn decided to try sating her own curiosity. "How about you?" The youngest Orderling knew that she was being kept away from the Order's main operation, which mostly involved a lot of the M drug and keeping troublemaking idiots off their turf. Being uninvolved only made her more curious about it, and she assumed that Syn would have something to do with that.
Nodding to Kaitlyn’s explanation Syn was getting a better picture of what the girl had been doing. She was in deep cover trying gather information.
When it came time for Syn to state what she had been doing her expression faded to one of melancholy. “Before coming back to my beloved Santuary I had spent a few years away. I wasn’t under cover or spying on anyone. Nothing as exciting as what you’ve been up to.” Syn cracked a fake smile. “I was being tortured.”

Kaitlyn's eyes widened.
"Tortured!? That's... what!?" The smaller Orderling struggled to find the right reaction. Her face betrayed shock and outrage. Her stomach was caught in a whirlwind of sorrow and fury. Who was awful enough... stupid enough to go around torturing members of her family? This was unacceptable. She wouldn't have any of it.
"By who!?" she demanded. Whoever this idiot was, he was going to have a very bad day if some Order members could get their hands on him.
...You've heard stories about me? Don't listen to them! It's safe to sit next to me, really!
Syn looked straight into Kaitlyn’s eyes to show she was completely serious and nodded subtlety. Seeing the fire rising up within the girl filled Syn’s soul with joy. Kaitlyn, like many of the others in the Order, showed that she would stick up for her fellow faction members. “You heard correctly. It was done by two other mutants and an adapted. They did things to me that I won’t ever forget, but rest assured that they won’t ever do those things to anyone ever again.”

Kaitlyn considered the elder Orderling's answer for a moment. When this consideration was done, she nodded, her outrage giving way to a tentative satisfaction. It seemed like those idiots already got what was coming to them. "That's good."
Satisfaction soon gave way to curiosity. "What happened to 'em?"
...You've heard stories about me? Don't listen to them! It's safe to sit next to me, really!
“I convinced the one who seemed to have some medical training to help me by having him tell the other two that I was developing a new mutation which prompted him to give them an inoculation. In truth he gave them both a strong sedative so once they were passed out he freed me. I then grabbed a knife and killed all three of them.” She decided to spare the girl the full truth as Syn wasn’t sure how Kaitlyn would handle it.
For a brief moment Syn relived those last moments. Grabbing the knife and tricking Cross to walk into the room where Morpheus and Knuckles had passed out in just in case they weren’t fully out of it. The sound of the blade slitting across Cross’ throat, and the gurgling noise as he choked on his own blood. Using a hand saw to cut off the end of the hose Knuckles liked using on her so often and shoving it down his throat and turning it on full to drown the large man. To ensure Knuckles wouldn’t live she drove two roughly sharpened rods through his chest and his lungs. Finally, the satisfaction of crushing Morheus’ skull with a hammer repeatedly. She had become the dark angel of vengeance and her wrath had been exacted in full fury.
