The X-men run missions and work together with the NYPD, striving to maintain a peaceful balance between humans and mutants. When it comes to a fight, they won't back down from protecting those who need their help.
Haven presents itself as a humanitarian organization for activists, leaders, and high society, yet mutants are the secret leaders working to protect and serve their kind. Behind the scenes they bring their goals into reality.
From the time when mutants became known to the world, SUPER was founded as a black-ops division of the CIA in an attempt to classify, observe, and learn more about this new and rising threat.
The Syndicate works to help bring mutantkind to the forefront of the world. They work from the shadows, a beacon of hope for mutants, but a bane to mankind. With their guiding hand, humanity will finally find extinction.
Since the existence of mutants was first revealed in the nineties, the world has become a changed place. Whether they're genetic misfits or the next stage in humanity's evolution, there's no denying their growing numbers, especially in hubs like New York City. The NYPD has a division devoted to mutant related crimes. Super-powered vigilantes help to maintain the peace. Markus's navigation led him to where he needed to be. In his sight to behold was the building called the Sanctuary. The doors glimmered as if Apollo had imbued them with his likeness. "So they are gold? Well that must have been one hell of a price to pay to an architect." Markus said as he glanced at the doors from the passenger side of his window. He made his way out with a black briefcase in hand and sunglasses on, as his feet took the necessary steps to approach the massive structure, he felt like a child who had just been enrolled in school and was set to meet others like him. It was apparent to Markus that he was going to meet mutants, but never had he in his life met others like him and so he let a little panic surface, not too much to be noticed, a small touch.
Now at the genesis of something he knew little about, Markus didn't know what to do. "Do I...knock? I mean this is gold who would want me to be knocking on it? Screw it." Panic showed it self now, but this little outburst would hasten his emotions. A gentle but stern amount of five careful knocks was then laid upon the golden doors.
Still reacquainting herself with everything Syn had decided to touch base with Lisa. She had been getting caught up on any changes as well as looking through a few residents files in hopes of finding some interesting talents. A few stuck out and the dark princess kept a mental note of their names and abilities.
A distinct knocking sound resounded from the doors to the foyer. Looking to Lisa the woman had already pulled up a camera viewing the guest outside. The monitor showed a bald older man in a suit and holding a briefcase. “Salesman?” Syn stated jokingly. “I’ll see what he wants.” With that said she made her way to the great golden doors.
With the opening of the doors there stood the younger girl examining the man. She was hardly dressed anything like what the man might’ve been expecting, but then Syn didn’t really dress like anyone else anyway. Wearing a black tank top with a red hour glass like that of a black widow printed on the front she also had on a pair of black baggy pants with a red skull and cross bones on the left thigh. Finishing off with her favorite pair of black and red converse shoes and her silver necklace Syn tilted her head slightly and got right to the point. “What are you offering?”
As the doors buckled inward and reveal to Markus what he sought, but to his surprise, it was a moment of great awkwardness to him. This is odd, well remember what Sun Tzu would say, "Never underestimate your opponent." Markus thought as he took in the sight for one second. Her appearance was not what Markus had expected either, not to mention the girls odd question baffled him but he decided to play along in his own way to get his point across.
"I apologize if my appearance misinformed you of my true intentions, I am here to deal in other matters, but I do have something to offer. A pleasure to meet you Ms.?" He ignored the oddity of the sudden outburst the girl had displayed upon opening the door. The connections this girl might have with others could be great, and if Markus were to rub even a single person amongst the ranks of this organization the wrong way, he knew he would pay for it, one way or the other.
A smile crept over the girl’s lips seeing her appearance had caught the man off guard for certain. It’s always fun to throw off someone’s game plan even for a moment. He definitely looked like someone who was established in some form or another, and his composure recovered rather quickly. Several thoughts popped into the girl’s head as she continued to assess the man.
Straightening up and looking the guest in his eyes she responded back calmly. “So, without all those extra words to explain yourself my question holds firm. What do you offer, and you can call me Syn. You are?” Her analysis had narrowed him down to some sort of executive of a business or possibly someone associated to laws. Just the way he answered her was clue enough. After all her dealings with various people Syn had gotten quite good at picking out subtleties in a person such as body language, tone, vocabulary. She wasn’t able to get pin point accurate judgments, but she could get close enough.
Now she wanted to know what he was offering and if it was going to be beneficial to the Sanctuary or possibly the Order or herself. Whether he was a business executive, a lawyer or a politician there was always a chance something good could be gained from such positions. Syn gave the man a questioning look and waited for his reply.
This one can see right through the sugar coating, very well. Markus thought again as he began to open his mouth and speak."I can offer a lot of things. Social appeal, intuition into the law, but at the moment the best and most tangible at this point, would be money." In the moments of forming this sentence Markus had removed his sunglasses and reached into his pocket in a well timed execution of words and actions and at the end of the sentence had presented to the girl one of his handy Conformatist business cards.
"My name is Markus Burke, politician, businessman, veteran, strategist, you name it. I know this all seems like soliciting but, I am not fully at liberty to disclose my true intentions when not behind closed doors." Markus spoke once more as he handed the girl the card which glimmered in the sunlight almost as brightly as the golden doors.
A list of things came out of the man’s mouth that could possibly help Sanctuary and those housed within, but shortly there after is when the proverbial shoe dropped. There was something he wanted in exchange for such pleasantries. Something he couldn’t be caught discussing which made it all the more intriguing.
Taking the business card and stepping back and to the side Syn gestured for the man named Markus to enter Sanctuary. “Come Markus, step into my parlor.” A subtle smile remained on the girl’s face. Once Markus was inside Syn closed the doors. “You’re now behind closed doors my dear Mr. Markus. What is it you can now discuss and what are you wanting in exchange? Why else would a man of your lengthy background want to come here? Surely it’s not because you’re feeling generous, or there would be more people like you coming here.” Emerald eyes continued watching the man carefully.
" I need money, you need money, you and your people help me, and there's 5 million dollars in it for you to split with whoever else helps." Now he cut straight to the point like a blade through skin breaking straight into the bone. He opened his briefcase still vertical, and pulled from it the laptop. "This is the hit, a bank. On there is the information I will use to orchestrate this gun and run." In those two mere sentences, Markus had changed his tone to one of seriousness and continued to explain as he handed the Laptop that was only on sleep mode until opened. to the girl.
"Now onto more personal things. Whether or not you are a mutant is unknown to me, but I need others who have capabilities that would facilitate needed positions in this plan. I for one, am a mutant." Open the doors and let them in, if anything goes wrong you know what to do./i] Markus thought as he spoke and began to give the girl information not even the Conformatists knew about. "I have a mental ability that would allow me to plan ahead of others in a swift manner, and mutation that would prove secondarily useful in the field of the first mutation but what I need to know is if you will help me." Markus stated on the fringe of waiting her answer.
Listening to the man with the plan Syn had to hold herself back. Only a slight smirk, which might be viewed as her finding the idea interesting, made itself known. The truth was that she wanted to laugh as hard as she could. He wanted help robbing a bank? Did he truly not know who he was dealing with? Had he not heard what the people within Sanctuary were capable of? Maybe he never heard of The Order or perhaps he was new to the city and now one had informed him.
Markus continued his presentation which included showing and handing over a laptop. Syn continued to think to herself as he spoke. We never used elaborate plans like something you’d see in a movie. We just did what ever we had to in order to accomplish our goal. Robbing Fort Knox was hardly a drawn out plan nor was it a covert operation. Just showed up unexpectedly and stomped the humans and their defenses. Then again what we did that day was to let the world know who we were and what we could do.
Refocusing on Markus as he explained that he too was a mutant the girl kept note of his description of his ability. He only spoke of one power specifically while leaving the other to imagination. Still, someone who can plan ahead would be very useful in the right situations.
“Before I answer you I have a question of my own. You’re willing to pay 5 million to be split amongst whoever sees this plan through. How much is the take from the bank? I only ask because we’ll be putting ourselves on the line for you. It would only be fair to know what we’re doing it for.” Syn continued to keep her calm and composed form while still driving home her own point.
"The amount that would be obtainable from the vault in the bank, would be 10 million dollars. Of course that is just the money stored within it. Safe deposit boxes area all free reign to those who want them once the plan is in motion. I am sure that little added bonus, cutting the money in half would make it fair as fair." Markus replied sternly, in his voice stood a line he drew, he wanted the terms he had set but left leverage for negotiating purposes.
"The reason I need this money is to say, putting down roots if you will. It's also an investment opportunity for you and your Sanctuary, trust me when I say I can be a valuable business partner." Perhaps this persuasive speech could set the terms in stone and we can move onto more oppressing things. Markus's mind now drilled on the other factors left in the way.
Abyss made his way to the front desk, he received a text from Lisa, -- man talking business with Syn in the lobby--
The large man walked the halls swiftly and turned the corner to the lobby and stood for a moment just out of sight listening to the back and forth, between the polished businessman and his sinister sister. He wondered momentarily how everything would proceed if he stayed out of it all together. It seemed as if they would be needing muscle and the boys had been grumbling about not getting out enough.
Abyss stepped into the lobby with a polite smile on his face. "Hello Syn, Lisa." His eyes then fell to the man in the suit, He liked the quality and the cut, He could appreciate good tailoring, Most anything beyond sports gear they had to have custom made. Abyss offered his hand to the gentleman in the suit. "I'm Abyss, I heard a bit from the hallway. The split seems a bit uneven fifty fifty, we do the lifting and take the risk, and you still get half? I cant however, say I'm not intrigued."
He looked to his little sister. " What do you think?" It was instinct to defer to the former Order leader.
As the presence of the Goliath like man was chimed in like church bells at the sound of his voice, Markus turned to face the astonishing sight to behold, but oddly enough Markus had no real surprise in his mind. You see enough war atrocities in your time and you're sure to see the Devil's face in a pile of corpses burning soon enough. "Markus Burke, pleased to meet you Abyss." Markus said in a slow well mannered tone as he shook the mans extended hand with his own. And I looked to behold a red horse, and a name that set on him was war, and he was given a great sword to take peace from the earth. As Markus quoted the proverb in his head he overheard the man's comment on the cut and came up with a retort.
"As I said this just the beginning phase of our business relationship, there will be other hits along the way that will tip the scales in your favor I assure you." The silver tongue of this demon flickered words once more trying to persuade the other party to be assured of an equality that would prosper.
Aura received a text and smiled. It looked like they might have something to do. Flexing her back, she grinned down at her pet cat, which most people insisted was a skunk. Scratching the creature behind the ear, she got up off of her bed and scooped the protesting animal up in her arms. Aura did not bother to look at the mirror, she had smashed it, with a hammer. An actual physical hammer she had acquired from someone she robbed in an alleyway.
Aura arrived as Abyss was talking about their cut of the pay. Aura cared little about this, she would have robbed the place either way simply for something to do and for the promise of violence and to have a little fun. The man mentioned other hit's which gave Aura even more interest in the idea, though looking over the man. She approached closer, her eyes stared at Markus a bit like pray but with Syn and Abyss nearby Aura was very confident whoever he was would cause Little harm here.
"It Sound's interesting to me as well She said as used her free hand to pet the animal she was carrying. Most of Sanctuary was semi used to the skunk, Aura aloud to simply run around sanctuary as it pleased. "Been awhile since i last robbed a bank, back with meld..." she said recalling the fond memory. "I am Aura, Do you care if we have...Fun with any one we find" she said with a smile. As she did pink energy began to pour out of her eyes and lips until it covered her in a thin pink layer, then with her free hand, Aura gathered more of her Aura to her arm until it took on a roughly cone shape and began to spin forming a very obvious drill, which soon collapsed and Aura instead formed an Axe and then a flyswatter before she let the weapon fall back into her Aura and let her aura fade untill it was a faint outline around her. She kept it up just in case the man pulled anything.
Did I alert everyone here or something? No matter, this only proves that they can muster a more effective force than I can and can do more than what I thought, perhaps I should reveal my true intentions. Markus thought as he turned to the woman who had entered the room with the odd pet and began to talk. "Pleased to meet you Aura, I can assure you that what happens to people who are in the wrong place at the wrong time once the plan is set in motion is of secondary concern to me, so knock yourself out." Once Markus saw the display of the Woman's power, he tallied up his chances of actually pulling off the heist, but still yet to know the fully extent of the Woman's abilities and even begin to know the other two's powers Markus was still a bit concerned.
Markus’ last statement stuck in Syn’s head as having potential for great things. It would all depend on how this little job of his turned out and if he was true to his word. Though if he wasn’t he would sorely regret it. Dealing with people in Sanctuary wasn’t like dealing with the mob or some local thugs. If things fell through they could inflict some serious damage in so many ways.
In a break from conversation Syn heard her brother’s distinct voice to which she acknowledged his arrival with only a simple look. He didn’t wait as he introduced himself directly to Markus. If Markus was shocked by the big red man’s appearance he was hiding it well, though Syn had a feeling there was still some shock involved.
The polished politician spoke some more in regards to the job and suggestions of future interactions. His words sounded promising, but Syn had rarely focused on just one thing that was immediately in front of her path. She wanted to see beyond that to know that this possible new ally really could benefit Sanctuary and with it The Order. She listened carefully to his wording as she was also used to getting things just from use of words.
Soon another familiar face joined them as Aura entered the discussion. Syn wasn’t quite used to Aura’s pet skunk and had actually wondered who it belonged to after seeing the creature roaming Sanctuary. Syn acknowledged the other female with a smile and a nod. Thoughts on the animal faded quickly as the girl showed off some of her ability. Syn had remembered seeing it once, but it was more in the form of a shield at that time. The girl just wanted to have some fun as she sounded a bit bored. It was another sign that the Order had become decadent and angered the dark princess.
So Markus wanted mutants to conduct this plan of his, and all he wanted was the money with no concern for collateral damage. “Just how are you planning to cover this little operation of yours from the general public? Do you have the media under your thumb, or will we just fall on the sword?” In all honesty Syn didn’t care if anyone knew it was them causing the chaos as it would remind the wretched humans who was truly in power around here. However, she didn’t think a politician would want to be connected to such a thing if he planned on staying in the political arena.
"I'm glad you asked, you see I won't be orchestrating this plan as myself, I will be under the guise of another persona, but I will inform you more of that later, what concerns me is your need for a person of my expertise. I expect that given the leverage I have yielded onto you and your group, I can trust you with keeping my true identity under wraps. As for this event being kept from escalating into a large media frenzy, we could always plan this to be a covert plan, perhaps pin it on some other group of criminals of sorts, but that is of your choosing."
Now almost everything was out on the table, Markus didn't feel cause for alarm to reveal his connection with another persona that would possibly come to rise as a criminal mastermind, he knew he would be of worth to these people, and that they would see fit to keep his identity safe If not he could always spin a few lies here and there, a few alibis and get support from his political party and have them state past accords of his so called "good will" and he would be in the clear no matter how much he was bashed or railroaded.
