The X-men run missions and work together with the NYPD, striving to maintain a peaceful balance between humans and mutants. When it comes to a fight, they won't back down from protecting those who need their help.
Haven presents itself as a humanitarian organization for activists, leaders, and high society, yet mutants are the secret leaders working to protect and serve their kind. Behind the scenes they bring their goals into reality.
From the time when mutants became known to the world, SUPER was founded as a black-ops division of the CIA in an attempt to classify, observe, and learn more about this new and rising threat.
The Syndicate works to help bring mutantkind to the forefront of the world. They work from the shadows, a beacon of hope for mutants, but a bane to mankind. With their guiding hand, humanity will finally find extinction.
Since the existence of mutants was first revealed in the nineties, the world has become a changed place. Whether they're genetic misfits or the next stage in humanity's evolution, there's no denying their growing numbers, especially in hubs like New York City. The NYPD has a division devoted to mutant related crimes. Super-powered vigilantes help to maintain the peace. Those who style themselves as Homo Superior work to tear society apart for rebuilding in their own image.

Lori leaned forward when Lenna talked, lips parted and attention rapt... and the most she got was a salad and a confirmation that no that wasn't why Lenna had called her here.
The Order leader was about ready to bang her head against the table. Lenna probably didn't want to talk in front of the violinist with the painty ears or the younger girl. That had better be the reason because Lori did not like being made to wait.
She grumbled in sounds rather than coherent words and picked up her fork so that she could brutally stab her salad, daintily nibble the greens and then go right back to her stabbing.
Miss Lenna smiled at her in the way a babysitter smiles at her charges before their parents leave for the evening, asking if she was the one who was responsible for all this. 'All this' clearly being the most awesome, excellent, and romantic date ever.
Behind the romantic couple, Edward paused his playing for just a moment to point to the fingers on his left hand and make a horribly pained expression that only Katrina would be able to see from this angle. Then he went back to playing, not quite as gingerly as before.
Static crackled for a moment over her headset as multiple voice patterns registered themselves in a jumble. Melissa's voice commanded, “Give that back!” Noin's responded, “My car is not for public use. Whomever issued that order, find someone else's vehicle to use for your errands.”
Another crackle and Hans' voice took over, “We need to serve this pasta before it gets... hey, those aren't for you!” Another, grumpier voice complained, “These are my noodles. No one gave you permission...” “I don't see 'Ingram' written anywhere on the box” “Doesn't matter they're...” “Come back here with my...” “Not until...” Pots and pans crashed, and the conversation cut out.
Percy's blonde head peeked out from behind a holographic tree and he tried to communicate with some kind of hand signal that she didn't quite catch before Nigel pulled him back out of sight.
Katrina smiled back at Lenna, like a kid smiles at a babysitter before her parents leave for the evening, “No ma'am. I had lots of help.”
"Ah," Lenna noted, as if that were the wrong answer. "Please tell your help, then, that all orders regarding their active duties should come from me. As new acting head of Mondragon labs, I would prefer it if my employees followed my orders, rather than yours. Although I appreciate the thought, Katrina, I would have greatly preferred it if I'd been made aware of your plan before you began preparation for these arrangements."
Lenna clasped her hands in front of her and looked at the young girl expectantly.
Slate had put her in charge. This was a fact. Later that day, she would be certain to complete final talks with him, and arrange for the labs to fully be put under her name. A false identity, yes, but one that would hold legal sway over the entire operation. Certainly, he would not object, as it was his will to put her in charge to make such decisions. She was in charge, not Katrina. This, Lenna would have to remind the young girl.
The girl got points for effort. She lost them for lack of foresight.
Now that was something interesting enough to have Lori stop moodily stabbing at her salad.
New acting head of Mondragon labs, but... what did that mean for the Kabal? Blue eyes flicked toward the little blonde. Lori didn't want to ask with an audience. It was also interesting to note that Katrina had arranged all this.
"Well, I admire your initiative." The statement applied to both the women present, but Lori winked at Katrina to take the sting out of Lenna's dressing down. "Even if it was confusing to walk into a date instead of a meeting." She would never have gotten a kiss out of Lenna at a meeting. Somehow that thought cheered the Order leader right up.
Katrina nodded, looking somewhat downfallen. She looked from the new faction leader to the seasoned one as they spoke, then quietly she voiced her question, "Will you still be wanting your spaghetti primavera?"
"You can bring us the meal," Lenna replied smoothly. "But after that, I'd like a little privacy please. This was meant to be private. If I had wanted something like this, I would have arranged it."
What was wrong with this girl? Lenna had wanted to be mad at her, a silent fury. One crestfallen look and she wanted to make things right. She wanted to make things right with Lori more.
Lori leaned conspiratorially across the table again, "I would keep her on your good side, if I were you. She's a girl that can move mountains, whether in a leadership position or not."
Katrina. The Order leader had heard things about that girl and this meal only proved her ability to motivate others. People had come to the Sanctuary to "rescue" her from a sleepover once. Lori would have to look into the corruptibility of her morals. And the possibility of another sleepover.
Also, whatever spaghetti primavera was, Lori hoped it did not take too long. All this talk had her hungry.
"Tell me what you can about Mondragon. I've only been here once." And she conveniently neglected to share that story.

Hans' hurried voice in her ear let her know that the pasta was ready and waiting right in the locker room. It would be best to serve it right now.
Katrina scratched her ear and gave a tentative smile to both the women, “Okay.”
At the very least they were going to eat their pasta. Katrina sighed with relief. The date wasn't totally ruined, then. Or meeting, or whatever it was. Also, she noted, Lenna didn't seem to be a big fan of surprises.
So, that ruled out the fireworks she had been planning for the end of the evening.
She quickly shuffled behind the holographic tree to the door where Hans had a pasta platter ready. She grabbed it as quick as she could without dropping it. She thought she saw a glimpse of a red haired mad scientist lurking behind the chef, but in her haste she wasn't completely certain. She had to get this pasta out there quickly.
She placed the dishes in front of the faction leaders, gave a little bow, and said simply, “Enjoy your meal.” And with that she retreated to the locker room, ushering one elven eared violinist through before her. The door closed behind them with a final sounding click.
“Why'd you close the door?” Percy immediately wanted to know.
“They wanted privacy, they said,” Katrina defended herself.
“But we want to know what they are saying,” the big paladin complained with a pout.
Nigel held his finger up to his lip to silence them all. He pointed to his own ear, then to Katrina's. The little illusionist reached up to where her own microphone had been just moments before only to find that it was gone. Maybe when she had scratched... or maybe when she had bowed... somewhere along the line the little radio had dropped to the floor right next to the two women eating their pasta.
Lenna kept silent while Lori spoke to her, taking note of the not-so-subtle hints. She believed her, really. This girl seemed to hold a sway over various members of her lab staff. Maybe she'd need to hire some new staff?
Unfortunately, when Lori asked Lenna to tell her about the labs, Lenna didn't have much to say.
"I don't have much information," She said. "I'll need to look into that."
As she sat, Lenna shifted her foot. There was a tiny crunch. Lenna glanced down at her feet, then suspiciously at the pasta.
On the other end of the line, the ear piece in the black man's ear made a terrible sound, then cut off.
"I hope this pasta is safe..." Lenna trailed. "I'd hate for it to be crawling with bugs."
"You assumed leadership without knowing what you were getting into?" That was a bit mind boggling to Lori.
Katrina brought them pasta and they both poked at it for a little bit while the youngest blonde retreated.
"There's a cafeteria, a research facility, an underground complex... That's about all I got. I think their funding put out the artificial heart sometime last year... or was it the year before...? Anyway, I'd love to have a peek in that facility later, if you have access." And of course Lori would love it if some of those doctors had an interest in pharmaceuticals, but Lenna hadn't really laid out how any of this would relate to Lori yet. Or why Lenna had called Lori here beyond the fact that she had wanted to tell her.
Of course Lori appreciated being told, but the woman couldn't quite keep herself from thinking of how these resources could be applied to Order, Sanctuary or Faust Pharmaceutical goals. "Lenna... why did you call me here? If you have control of all this, why would you need me?"

Several LARPers and one chef winced simultaneously and grabbed at one of their ears.
Katrina raised an eyebrow at them.
“Feed back,” Percy informed her, “It sounds like your inadvertent bug got squashed.” He looked distinctly unhappy about it.
“What's wrong?” Katrina asked him with a note of concern in her voice.
The oft-Paladin shrugged, “Meh. I'm just a little wary of new bosses. You never know what you're going to get.” He personally had rather enjoyed Slate's laid back methods. He dreaded another episode like the one where Kaz had briefly been in charge, in which half the staff had been locked up and a choice few had lost fingers for the grievous offense of letting someone in without telling him.
From the looks on their faces, a couple of the other men were also remembering that episode with some trepidation.
Katrina would have patted his shoulder reassuringly, except she couldn't reach it. She settled for his elbow.
“Don't worry. Miss Lenna seems nice enough. A little bossy maybe, but I'm sure she'll be just fine. After all, if Slate likes her, she must be alright.”
>>"You assumed leadership without knowing what you were getting into?"
Leadership had actually been given to her. She hadn't assumed a thing.
Several things were listed, but none of them surprised her. She'd known about the medical research labs, the underground complex, and all the other goodies. If there was anything lurking she did not know about, she planned to research it and find out. It was only a matter of time. All of Slate's base did belong to her, after all. It was her duty to look that base up and down.
Lori's expressed interest in the medical research side of Slate's company made sense. After all, the Order leader had a medical company of her own. They might not have been the same type of research, but the two companies could work hand in hand. Great breakthroughs took efforts from all sources and forces.
Katrina had left, so she could be frank again. She gave a nod of understanding. "Of course." She had more to say, that hadn't been said yet. The business merger had been but a part of it. Lori wanted to know the whole deal.
"I want to propose a merger," Miss Lenna began. "I still need to go through the finer details of who and what make up the Kabal before stating anything decidedly there. I believe, though, that we can be mutually beneficial to each other. Slate's been taking over countries." There was a flare of recognition in her eyes. It wasn't a positive one. "I don't believe I will be continuing in those footsteps. But setting up business plans in New York doesn't seem out of the question."
"We can discuss this more when we have a bit more privacy," Lenna hinted, glancing towards the doors. Sure, the girl had gone and left them, but... "There is still plenty to ponder."
She wanted to decide this with Lori once they both had time to figure out their plans.
((OOC: A subtle hint that this thread is about wrapped up, and we can finish our pasta and pat Katrina on the head, handling any major Kabal Order decisions off-camera. Through PM. ))
