The X-men run missions and work together with the NYPD, striving to maintain a peaceful balance between humans and mutants. When it comes to a fight, they won't back down from protecting those who need their help.
Haven presents itself as a humanitarian organization for activists, leaders, and high society, yet mutants are the secret leaders working to protect and serve their kind. Behind the scenes they bring their goals into reality.
From the time when mutants became known to the world, SUPER was founded as a black-ops division of the CIA in an attempt to classify, observe, and learn more about this new and rising threat.
The Syndicate works to help bring mutantkind to the forefront of the world. They work from the shadows, a beacon of hope for mutants, but a bane to mankind. With their guiding hand, humanity will finally find extinction.
Since the existence of mutants was first revealed in the nineties, the world has become a changed place. Whether they're genetic misfits or the next stage in humanity's evolution, there's no denying their growing numbers, especially in hubs like New York City. The NYPD has a division devoted to mutant related crimes. Super-powered vigilantes help to maintain the peace. Those who style themselves as Homo Superior work to tear society apart for rebuilding in their own image.

Audrey smiled, feeling a little bad for Jewel’s misunderstanding. “I’m sorry; I just…Don’t think it’s the right time. I just arrived in New York, maybe in the future… We’ll see.” Honestly though, she was just saying that to make Jewel feel better, as well as herself in a way. She didn’t have the right potential for this kind of place, not to mention the life she would be privileged from if she did live in this Mutant Haven. She was better off in her Apartment, where she was already starting to feel at home. “Shana’s right, I won’t be so far away either. We can always hang out!” she added, feeling slightly relieved that they weren’t going to hate her at least.
Chalmette Louisiana, Audrey’s hometown and where she’d lived her entire life was only ten minutes away from New Orleans, so this made the Shapeshifter smile a little. “I come from Chalmette, it’s only ten-fifteen minutes a drive from New Orleans. I lived there my entire life.” she explained, “Small world, huh?” she added jokingly. “Anyway, Shana has a bit more of an interesting origin. Israel, that’s pretty cool, don't you think?” Hopefully the blue-haired girl wouldn’t mind Audrey telling Jewel about it. She hadn’t really thought about what Shana wanted and didn’t want known to the public.
Audrey laughed once, this time? Did that mean she’d done something worse with her powers? “Both of you guys’ abilities are really amazing.” Audrey said after Jewel had gotten the ear ring from its hiding place. "I already told Shana my power, but I don't think I told you before. I'm a Shapeshifter, I can take other people's forms, right down to the genetic code. Though, I don't think I can reproduce powers." She could easily recall Jewel using hers the previous day as well. “And, definitely not mine either.” she said, nodding at the jewelry. She didn’t bother explaining Jewel’s power, and that it wasn’t necessarily Telekinetic, deciding Jewel was big enough to do that on her own.
"Too bad, I thought I finally got a roommate." she chuckled; she wasn't seriously sad about that, just wanted Audrey to know she would be welcome. "Yes, sure, we can hang out together..." "Yeah, small world." she smiled. When Audrey told her Shana was from Israel, she looked surprised "Wow, you got quite far away from home... I can imagine that is difficult..." When Shana asked about her powers, she chuckled. "Nope, not a telekinetic. I can control precious metals and gemstones. That's why people call me Jewel." she held out her hand, and made her bracelets change their shape and pattern "But I'm still learning to use my powers." When Morphia told them she was a shapeshifter, she looked surprised. "Wow. That sounds... interesting." she didn't really know what to say, but she was really intrigued.

She was all right with Audrey leaving, she did think it would be fun to have her hanging around as well, but some people liked more control over their living conditions and other were just bothered by large fancy houses she knew. "Yea, not quite down the road, but their might be more people in just this section of this country, it is a bit strange but im actually enjoying it" she said referring to the state. She was unsure how true that was, but it sure seemed to be the case to her. She was proud of her country despite the somewhat frequent violence that seemed prevailient at the borders.
"Interesting, i wonder how the power knowes it's a jewel" she said interested. Maybe some powers just did, and did she really have the right to ask such a thing without understanding how her own power worked exactly. She just knew it did and maybe Jewels were the same way, considering this she thought of something that might be interesting, her own beginnings were a bit rough but not everyone had a rough start she thought. "My powers became active when we were being robbed, i acidently stabbed the intruder, luckiliy he was not hurt to bad" she said having never wanted to really harm the intruder, only to stop him.
It seemed peoples powers were quite varied in the small groups of mutants she had found, she knew most of them had powers that differed greatly from each other. She had met one who could increase his speed or strength and others like jewel and Morphica. She wonderd just how many types of powers were out thare. She was beginning to see why people might be scared of them, people were afraid of what they did not know and you could never know just what a mutant could do untill they did it.
Audrey shrugged, she felt awkward now. It wasn’t that she didn’t want to be seen in a place like this, but she just didn’t feel right. As if with her past, she couldn’t possibly be welcomed here. For heavens’ sake, she’d stolen cars, wallets. She’d even gotten around to stealing in stores…Though, mostly for fun, and almost never looking like herself either. That had been during her sophomore, Junior and part of her senior year of High School, things had been hard those days. She hadn’t done it many times, but enough to be considered as a criminal. Worse of all, she’d probably ruined many lives, many relationships with her pranks as a Shapeshifter. Anyway, those were all reasons she felt as if she was no good for this place, and then some more that were less terrible.
"Yea, not quite down the road, but their might be more people in just this section of this country, it is a bit strange but I’m actually enjoying it."
Audrey nodded, “Well as long as you like it here.” she said with a smile. To be honest, it was hard not to fall in love with New York. It was just such a beautiful city, especially at night. She’d sit on the edge of her bedroom window in the apartment she’d rented, and stare at the passing cars thirteen floors below. Then there was all the lights from buildings around her, and the noise. Sometimes, it would be a pain, like when she was trying to sleep, but most of the time, she liked the hustle and bustle of the city.
Having already witnessed Jewel’s powers the other day, Audrey wasn’t as fascinated as before when Jewel started changing the shapes of her bracelets. To be honest, if she would have met Jewel in another world, where the Jewelry manipulator didn’t have her abilities, then Audrey would’ve been surprised. Weird, huh? "Yeah, interesting indeed." she muttered, too low for the two to hear. She'd never quite gotten the reason why her powers were so hard to use.
"My powers became active when we were being robbed, i accidently stabbed the intruder, luckily he was not hurt to bad."
Audrey was quickly intrigued by Shana’s story about intruders and how that had been when her powers had manifested. ”Mine manifested when I was thirteen. I don’t really remember the finer details of it, only that it was the only time it didn’t hurt.” Of course, she couldn't know if it had really hurt or not, because she'd been asleep when it had happened. She’d been bullied by the popular girls that day, and came home angry and sad. In her room, she’d stared at herself for hours, wishing she could be prettier…She’d been one of the few girls who hadn’t really started developing yet. When she’d woken up the next morning, she had taken on one of the popular girls’ appearance, leaving behind her own skin in the bed.
"I guess my powers just react to certain metals and stones that are frequently used for creating jewelry" she answered to Shana. "Not as exciting as yours or Audrey's." she shrugged a bit "And definitely not as useful." She sounded sincere about that. After last night's fight she knew exactly how much help here powers would be in a fight. Exactly none. At least, right now it looked that way. She listened curiously at their storied about how their powers manifested. She didn't really have a story to add. She just... happened to start using her abilities one day. Out of curiosity. She smiled at the two girls. Making new friend always made her cheerful. Even this early in the morning.

Shana was enjoying herself enough to forget about her usual nervousness around other people and to stop thinking about the issue entirely. It was a rare moment for her, but moments she treasured once she regained herself. "Any power can be useful what's important is to try and use it for a practicable purpose, Like Audrey here could out match any look a like and a good look alike can make good money, and who could beat you in making jewelery. Though i can't say much i use mine mostly for things like doing my hair" she said with a bit of a laugh. Maybe that's what made humans so nervous about them, that some mutants could do normally what took a human Thousands of dollor's.
"I wonder why your power hurts to use, with any luck that will go away as you get better" she said with a smile. She was glad her powers did not hurt, but she was unsure how practicle her own powers were for use. She could not lift anything heavy or at least she had not tried to really, though she knew she could control several smaller objects. So she could not do any manual laber with it really and she had to focus on whatever it was for any kind of control. Still she would happy simply to be a normal girl, which to her surprise she was succeeding at quite well.
"So what would two like to do this morning?" she asked not really sure how to continue the conversation, she had not to much practice in such things. New york had forced her to talk to people more though since she really knew no one on this half of the planet. So far she had been happy with the choice that she had made. She smiled back at Jewel happily.
Audrey sat in one of the chairs, closing her eyes as Jewel explained her powers. Audrey already had a good idea of what the Jewelry Manipulator could do, but it was fun to imagine all the posibilities of that Power. It was only when Jewel said her powers probably weren't as exiting that the Shapeshifter felt the need to speak again. She opened her eyes, staring at the curly brown, gold and silver haired girl. "Hey, you're powers are awesome. A friend once told me that everyone has exiting powers. Sure, sometimes they aren't as handy in combat, but they are useful for something! Sometimes even more then you could ever imagine." Okay, so Jenny's version sounded much smarter, but who cares.
Then Shana added to Audrey's little speech, giving examples of what the two could do. "After a little bit of practice Shana, you could also do quite useful things. What if you or a friend would be in a near-death situation and you'd need some weapon of some sort? There's one nearby, but you can't reach it physically. Your power would definitely be useful there." Telekinetics were lucky, their power was brilliant! Definitely something Audrey wished she could have instead of this stupid Shapeshifting power.
"I wonder why your power hurts to use, with any luck that will go away as you get better."
"I can only hope." she said, "I never seem to get the time, energy and courage to try and practice. So it's a little hard to know." With the Job Application she planned on sending to a Club though, she wasn't sure she would be able to be herself if she got the job. She was only eighteen, after all. Her nineteenth birthday was still only at the end of September.
"Well," she said after Shana had asked them what they wished to do. "I still haven't gotten the Tour yet. Even if I don't think I'll be staying long, I wouldn,t mind knowing the place. You know, in case I come back to hang around with the friends I've made these past two days." She smiled hopefully.
"Your friend is really wise" she smiled at Audrey "I just got here a couple of days ago, but from what I know, everybody here is working on their powers. Getting comfortable using them. So I guess all of us have a lot to learn..." she winked at them, and sipped her milk "But one day we'll be awesome." Jewel chuckled. She was enjoying herself - the two girls were good company. Shana was shy and nice, and Audrey was... well, as far from her in personality as one could be, but still, Jewel felt like she'd make a real friend. Mentioning the Tour, however, reminded her of some things she had to do. "Oh. The Tour... you know they have people for that here? Some really nice guys, too" she added with a wink at Audrey "Um... I think I have something to do first. After how I brought you in... I think I should go talk to Mr. Security Guy before he hears about it from the police. Or my parole officer" she added with a tiny frown "But you go on ahead, I'll catch up with you once I'm done." She finished her milk and walked to the sink to wash the glass.
