The X-men run missions and work together with the NYPD, striving to maintain a peaceful balance between humans and mutants. When it comes to a fight, they won't back down from protecting those who need their help.
Haven presents itself as a humanitarian organization for activists, leaders, and high society, yet mutants are the secret leaders working to protect and serve their kind. Behind the scenes they bring their goals into reality.
From the time when mutants became known to the world, SUPER was founded as a black-ops division of the CIA in an attempt to classify, observe, and learn more about this new and rising threat.
The Syndicate works to help bring mutantkind to the forefront of the world. They work from the shadows, a beacon of hope for mutants, but a bane to mankind. With their guiding hand, humanity will finally find extinction.
Since the existence of mutants was first revealed in the nineties, the world has become a changed place. Whether they're genetic misfits or the next stage in humanity's evolution, there's no denying their growing numbers, especially in hubs like New York City. The NYPD has a division devoted to mutant related crimes. Super-powered vigilantes help to maintain the peace. Those who style themselves as Homo Superior work to tear society apart for rebuilding in their own image.

Streak wanted to press the issue about the jewelry job but decided it was probably better not to. So he settled for, "That's cool." Lily was talking about something serious. Since he talked about fighting their conversation had gone from good to depressing. Hopefully he would be able to get the conversation back to a happier note. As it was he continued to listen to her talk. The way she edited her story made him feel like there was plenty that she wasn't telling him. "Well there is a sort of code that goes along with mutants." Streak started to explain. "Don't take this the wrong way... but us, as mutants, are kind of looked down on by non-mutants. Though here at the mansion we try to teach the students and even older mutants about our age that not all humans are bad. Here we try to help the humans and the mutants alike to help us eventually get equality. Think of this school like the Martin Luther King for mutants." Streak said. Lily had a lot of questions and he was more than capable to answer any that she had.
When she finished talking Streak decided to address some of her concerns. "It's ok to ask people about their powers. Some might not want to tell you; and if that's the case don't press the issue. However, most people here are ok with sharing and demonstrating their powers. Personally I don't know when something I'm going to say is going to offend people either. Some people are easily offended but others will throws some quips back at ya."Streak was glad that she started to smile again. He continued with what he was saying, ""There isn't that much to figure out. Just because we're different from humans doesn't mean that we have a completely different set of guidelines. What were ya good at at your old school? Eating breakfast? In your pj's? I don't mind ya talking this much. It's easier for me to get to know ya that way." Streak joked again.
She listened eagerly as Streak talked about the mansion and their ideals, and she smiled at the end "Sounds like the perfect place for me." She didn't press the matter about her past. She was not sure she wanted to keep it a secret either; but right now she didn't need the conversation to get any more serious. It was still too early in the morning for that. Apparently, Streak was thinking the same. Joking worked well; now Jewel was smiling again "Just for the record, yes, I am very good at eating breakfast in pj's. And lunch. And dinner too. That's what princesses do." she added with a serious face and a nod. Now she was playing.

Streak chuckled a bit at her response. She was taking things well, considering the fact that this was a new place for her. "Well, your highness. I may just ge a knight but I do know that even princeses have to put normal clothes on sometimes." Streak said going along with her. This converstation was going in an odd direction. But then again breakfast wasn't excatly the normal time for a serious convestaion.
"What've you got panned for the rest of the day?" Streak asked. He was curious becuse he didn't really have anything planned. The again, the silver mutant never really ever had anything planned.
"Normal clothes? Never. Flashy ones, maybe. And pretty dresses for dancing" she chuckled "No, I don't have anything planned. Finding the way back to my room sounded like a challenge for the rest of the day..." she mused "But I guess I'd like to walk around, see the rest of the mansion. That's about it. Why, do you have any suggestions? What do you do around here in your free time?"

"Me? I hang out with friends, catch up on work. My days are never dull. There's always something for me to do here." Streak answered her. It was true. He was sure that he would be to find something to do to fill is day. "In general most peoples days are rearely dull. So you're from the south right? Then how about I play tour guide. I've ben here about a year so I know this place and I'd even venture to say, NYC pretty well." Today this would prove no different. If he played tour gide then that would probably be time consuming and he wouldn't have to worry about filling his day with other things because he could spend it with her.
"That sounds like fun" she smiled "I still haven't seen most of the Mansion. And I tend to get lost." as he mentioned NYC, she blushed and looked away "Um... let's just stay on the mansion grounds, okay?... Going off campus is a bit of a problem for me..."

"Well ya wont get lost with me with ya. I've probably found every little nook and cranny that this mansion has." Streak sai. Once he said it he realized that he probably sounded a little cocky. But what was said is said and he coudn't exactly un say it. "We can stay here. But just out of curiosity what do you mean by going off camps is a problem for you?" He asked. Streak was now sure that she was hiding something from him but if he was going to get her trust, then he would have to wait until she was redy to tell him whatever it was that she currently wasn't telling him.
Jewel bit her lip. She remembered all the talk she had with her parents ("It wasn't your fault, darling"), and the whole process of being admitted to the Institute. She was still ashamed of the whole story, and talking about it felt... difficult. She glanced at Streak. He was nice. And willing to help; so far he's worked really hard to gain her trust, she could tell that much from their conversation. And she was stuck here anyway; the school will be her home for years to come maybe. They will find out, sooner or later. Maybe it would be better to get it over with now. She blushed again, and stared at her hands on the table. "I am under police surveillance, and I can't leave the campus unescorted. I was sent here instead of being sent to prison." she said with one breath "I... used to be a thief." There. She said it.

Lily's statment was a little unexpected coming from someone that looked like her. Also condsidering what she'd told him about her education prior to here. He was thinking it was oging to be something much worse than that. Although considering her powers. He could understand how she would be able to be a jewel thief, or at least be used as a jewel theif by someone else. "Oh. Is that all?" Streak said. He didn't want to sound like it wa sno big deal but to him it really was.
There were people at the mansion, himself included, that had done many more worse things besides shoplifting or being a jewel thief. "I'd say this is a prety good trade. Of course I'd rather be here than jail any day." he said try not to offend her. "What kind of escort do you need. I'm sure they'd be more than willing to accept people from here as your escorts." Streak was thinking of himself when he said this. He knew how talk to people when it came to things of this sort. Of course it would be harder considering the cops didn't exactly like him either.
Jewel blinked, surprised, then blushed again. Figures. She was in a school filled with people with strange abilities and powers, who was she to think her problems were bad, compared to others. She was more than relieved that Streak took it so easily, though. Great, Lily, you're the drama queen. She smiled a shy smile at Streak. "Yeah, I guess that's all. I mean... with people like me, the press is all over the story. I just didn't want to drag my parents through the whole thing. It's not like I wanted to be a thief..." she didn't really know how to explain it. She grew up protected and yes, spoiled, and doing something like stealing sounded like a pretty big deal. Back home. It didn't sound as bad right here. "It's okay. I know most people had it worse." she shrugged, and smiled again. Time to change the subject. "So, how about that mansion tour, hm?..."

"Don't worry about it You just came from a different background than most of the people here. Your idea of horrible is down here and mostly everyone else's is something a lot higher." He said placing one hand higher than the other to demonstrate his point. "Sure. Where do ya want to start?" Streak felt that it would be better if she decided where they went so that he didn't end up revisiting someplace that she'd already seen.
"I know. I'm grateful for being down there" she pointed at his hands "I'll try my best to deal with the rest" she smiled a bit. "Well, so far I've managed to find my room, the bathroom and... food. I've seem the offices when I arrived. Everything else is off the map. So, why don't you show me where people hang out?" she finished her milk, and washed the glass and the cereal bowl "Shin promised to tell me about the classes too, but we didn't get that far." she smirked as she dried her hands. She walked back to the table to pick up the silver rose; under her fingers part of it turned into a hairpin, and she adjusted it behind her hear "Ready?"

"Well, it sounds like you've got all the important things covered." Streak said smiling at her. When Lily got up to clean her glass, Streak got up and followed her by cleaning his things up. He turned around just in time to see her put the rose in her hair. As flattered as he was he couldn't help but blush at her action. Trying as hard as he could to get the color away from his face, it didn't work very well, and he walked back towards her. "Ready." As he walked past her he took her hand. Streak held her hand lightly in case she wanted to take her hand out of his. He led the way out of the kitchen and into the living room. That's where he decided to start the tour.
Now there was something to smile at - cool guy blushing. Jewel suddenly felt more at ease than through the whole conversation. She knew better than to make a comment on the blush, though - she just chuckled when he took her hand, and didn't pull away as she followed him to the living room. "So... why did you come here? To the school?" she sounded curious.

(OOC: We can keep it going here, since we’ll be moving all around the mansion it wouldn’t make sense to make threads for like a couple of posts.)
He was a little surprised that she didn’t pull her hand away. Though he was surprised that she chuckled, maybe he just didn’t understand her yet or something. He’d have to ask her in a minute. But first he would answer her question. “Um.” He chuckled. He’d been asked this question before but he never thought that he ever gave a good enough answer to whoever asked. “Well, I came here to learn about my powers. I’ve actually never taken any classes though. But this place has become more of a family to me than my actual family.” He began to tell her.
Streak started to lead her slowly through the living room and out into the hallway as he continued his answer. “Of course it may also have something to do with the fact that my family doesn’t want much to do with me since they found out I’m a mutant.” It was the sad truth that he told her. Perhaps it wasn’t the right thing to say but he didn’t seem to mind telling people that fact.
