The X-men run missions and work together with the NYPD, striving to maintain a peaceful balance between humans and mutants. When it comes to a fight, they won't back down from protecting those who need their help.
Haven presents itself as a humanitarian organization for activists, leaders, and high society, yet mutants are the secret leaders working to protect and serve their kind. Behind the scenes they bring their goals into reality.
From the time when mutants became known to the world, SUPER was founded as a black-ops division of the CIA in an attempt to classify, observe, and learn more about this new and rising threat.
The Syndicate works to help bring mutantkind to the forefront of the world. They work from the shadows, a beacon of hope for mutants, but a bane to mankind. With their guiding hand, humanity will finally find extinction.
Since the existence of mutants was first revealed in the nineties, the world has become a changed place. Whether they're genetic misfits or the next stage in humanity's evolution, there's no denying their growing numbers, especially in hubs like New York City. The NYPD has a division devoted to mutant related crimes. Super-powered vigilantes help to maintain the peace. Those who style themselves as Homo Superior work to tear society apart for rebuilding in their own image.

Streak listened to Raina and Emerald talking. They both made good points. Streak had heard of what the Pope did a while ago but things were different now. Things weren't ever going to be the way they were. He had been silent since he had walked in, but he felt he had to say something.
"Y'all are both right." He said to Raina and Emerald. "But if you think about it. If we go in and stop a mutant from beating up a human who really deserves it, and I'm not saying we don't, but if we do wont that just create more enemies for us as the X-Men? Wont that create more members of the other groups?" He knew what he was saying could sound really bad to some but it had to be though about. "Now don't have a good idea of which way we should go on this issue but we have to think that most of the mutants that we stop either wont stop, find whoever it was again and we wont be there to stop it, or they'll find another group that doesn't like us and when they come after us that mutant that we stopped will be one of the first people to sign up for revenge."
He let that sink in for a minute before he continued, he was also think of some other things to say. "There's no way to stop people, mutants or humans, from fearing, taking action, revenge or anything else they want. Since the camps there's going to be no going back. No going back to the way things used to be. It'll be hard to goin' forward. Hard getting closer to being accepted and getting accepted. Hard getting both mutants and humans to understand that there's nothing different between us and humans. We still bleed red blood, we still think pretty much the same. The only real difference is that we, as mutants have powers."
"Just like everything else that's different, the humans want to control it. Sure there'll be some humans who understand us and want to help us get equality and we'll have some mutants that, like what Emerald is talking about, that want revenge and will probably be satisfied, for the most part, once they do get revenge. So it's like fighting a loosing battle, cause chances are good that there'll be more humans against us, or afraid and therefore against us because of fear, than we'll have on our side. No matter what is decided we have to think. We have to ask ourselves 'Is it worth interrupting something that will eventually, hopefully, go away on its own and risk gaining more enemies in the long run? or Is it better to let it play out and then try to educate the other mutants and work from that point?'" Streak finished. He wanted to see what the rest of the X-Men had to say about what Em, Raina and himself had said.
"So what if the mutant is attacking a human directly linked to the camps?"
Emerald replied to Neena's speech first, and rather bluntly. She turned to listen to her, not showing any outward hints of her own inner feelings.
"If that human in particular was responsible for this mutants suffering shouldn't we allow them to settle it amongst themselves?"
It was a loaded question, and Neena had no doubt that thought had crossed the minds of all of them that had endured the Registration Camps.
It also opened up a door to the others, getting them to voice their own opinions fairly easily. She listened quietly to Raina's timid, yet forceful reply, and then to Streak's more practical-based approach. As they spoke, Neena glanced around the room, gauging reactions.
There was a slight pause after Streak finished speaking. Finally Neena spoke up, her voice unusually soft, but not timid by any means.
"Would revenge satisfy you?" Though she addressed the question to the entire room, her gaze held Emerald's. After a moment to let the question sink in, she broke eye contact. "Or would justice? There's a pretty wide gap between the two."
She waited a moment again for responses, then prompted, "Anyone else?"

The mood in the room changed to a very serious tone. One that was centered on what the X-Men truly stood for. With all the different emotions and how each person might react differently to the same situation it was a topic that needed to be discussed. Already some very good points were brought up bye Emerald, Raina, Streak and Neena, but things were left up for further debate.
"All of you have great points of view and I think it's those differences that will be an asset to our group. I also think we need to focus on it so it doesn't become our weakness. We all know the X-Men stand for justice for both mutans and humans. If we were anything but a symbol of hope then we would fall into line with the likes of those who wish to ruin things for everyone but themselves. We must stand up as a guiding light for good. I know each situation we encounter will be different, but I think the end result for each is that we enlighten the ones who wish to cause harm. No matter if they are human or mutant it's our job to help for the benefit of all if we ever hope to gain true equality."
Ali looked around as she finished but her attention was mainly focused on those who had previously spoken. She hoped that her words rekindled the vision of what they were to stand for within each of the others.

Raina could have cried from Ali's responce. When Streak spoke it was all she could do to bite her lip- she liked Streak and from working with him to escape the camps she had to remind herself they were different people and would have different opinions. It was still uncomfortable.
"If we want those responsible for the camps to be punished it has to be through the justice system. Anything personal is revenge." she said bravely. "And if we stand for justice and not revenege... we'd have to stop a mutant trying to take revenge on a human. Ali's right too... we can inspire. But if we're going to do this, and do it right, we have to abolish hate. We might not all be prepared to be x-men right now emotionally after the camps. But there's a call for us. We're going to have to all do some deep thinking and centering. It's too bad there aren't mutant therapists..."
She thought of her own role with the younger mutants and wondered if she could be up for the challenge really.
Emerald had been listening to everyone else’s arguments, taking them all in good stride. It was possible after all for the wolf girl to be civil if need be and have the ability to listen like most people would. However, once Neena spoke again the wolf girl could not exactly stay quite now, those words made an almost sudden impact on her and not in the good way. She couldn’t help but grit her teeth at the words the woman said, biting her cheek. After Raven spoke, she still was a little irritated, Raina’s words calming her down only slightly.
However, Emerald couldn’t help but let out a soft laugh, smiling with her mouth filled with sharp teeth. She shook her head, crossing her arms over her chest, glancing up at the table filled with x men, though her eyes focused on Neena.
“Do you all honestly think that there is that big of a gap between Justice and Revenge?” Emerald asked a smirk apparent on her face. “Essentially, they are the same thing. An arsonist is taken in after burning down the house of a cop, do you honestly think that that cop wont persue that guy that did it with every fiber of his being? To deal him justice? Don’t you think there would be a personal vendetta weeded in his good intentions?”
Emerald looked at each and every person in the room, a passionate gaze in her eyes, one of a mixture between a passion of belief of a person and the gaze of wolf angrily staring down its prey. It was more than obvious that the wolf girl felt a certain passion about this subject and she wasn’t afraid to express it..
“Raina is right we aren’t mutant psychologists and it is possible to be like the pope, being forgiving and loving, trying to be the bigger person. However, If I had the choice between Stopping a mutant mother from beating the living shit out of a hoodlum who just killed her child and letting her do it? I would most defiantly let her do it and help her do it. That, despite however gruesome and gritty it may sound is in fact justice.”
Remaining quiet Nika listened to everyone talking. However, she didn't have anything to say about it. She could see everyone's point of view but with her state of mind in the camp she was feeling more agreeable with Emerald. The thought of acting on vengence was still very tempting to her.

Streak had to agree with Emerald. To him there wasn't that big of a difference between the two. Many times they were one and the same but apparently Neena thought differently. He knew people had it worse in the camps than him but he knew that there were people who deserved better than what they got, or didn't get if they got away. Streak was speechless but he was very interested in what other peoples opinions were about the differences in revenge and justice.
Apparently Neena's words hit a sore fiber in Emerald's being, to judge from the stiff gaze the wolf girl leveled in her direction. And, to be honest, Neena didn't blame her one bit. But the reason why the dark-skinned teacher had prodded at the young woman had nothing to do with what was right or wrong; at this point the Camps were still too fresh in everyone's mind to answer that question without bias. And with the example Emerald gave at the end of her arguement.... Neena wasn't sure how she personally would react in such a situation. She'd have to experience it to know.
No, Neena had other reasons for bringing this up. They needed to hear what each other thought. Each member of the team needed to know who they're teammates were. Not just their names, but who they were, inside and out.
"I can see where all of you are coming from," she remarked. "And I think I'm safe saying this: If we go any further right now, this is going to fast develop into an argument. An argument no one is going to win, and one none of us need to be dealing with at the moment. So, for now, let's leave it as is, and concentrate on what Ali said."
She nodded at the heat manipulator, and quoted what she'd said. " 'No matter if they are human or mutant it's our job to help for the benefit of all if we ever hope to gain true equality.' We all have to keep the big picture in mind, no matter what situation comes up."
She leaned back in her chair, and crossed her arms easily. She sighed. "Right now, everyone sees things as 'mutants versus humans'. It's no different than 'black versus white', 'jew versus german', 'man versus woman', and any other 'minority versus majority' attitude history chooses to repeat. If we want to change this current racist view, 'cause that's all it really it, then we are going to have to put personal feelings and opinions aside, and look at the big picture. If we can't agree to do that, then this team is going to be picked apart faster than a hyena stripping a fresh kill."
"So? Can we agree on that? Can we agree to do what's best for everyone involved, human and mutant alike, rather than us personally?"
She looked around the room once more, taking in everyone's individual responses, both verbal and bodily.

Neena spoke up and what she said sounded like a good idea. Hopefully everyone could agree to it and work together. Ali knew it would be tougher for some than others. However, she felt that everyone would do their best to help each other out no matter the situation.

Raina felt relief wash over her when Neena spoke up and ended what was going to be a very big argument. She watched Ali when she agreed and Raina nodded.
"I can do that" she added. "we're a team." she looked to the others.

Zeke had watched the meeting from a distance, in the corner of the room and leaning up against the wall. In the shadows so to speak. Although he longed to take part in the discussion, he had unusually quiet and observatory. It seemed like the new X-Men had quite a diverse group of members... which was perfect. More opinions was always a good thing, and the future probably held great things for a group that was as opinionated at this one.
Zeke of course had his own opinion, but had decided not to share it. It had been a combination of several of the arguments and would never had done much good to voice it. Instead, Zeke noted who was on which side of the case, and decided to do some more research. For his own part, Zeke had decided to create a sort of covert group who would act on their beliefs that humans and mutants must live in peace.
He didn't quite know what that meant yet, but he did know he would have to decide to start soon. He would. Plus, he needed to have a talk with Neena about some things... and he needed a walk... the lake was nice this time of year.
Emerald watched as Neena tried to talk everyone, including her into a compromise. Now the thing was, despite the fact the compromise was a good idea, Emerald didn't view it that way. The Woman deliberately avoided Emerald's question as well, making the female wolf even more frustrated. Neena honestly expected to gain Emerald's respect all because that she was now the assistant head mistress? Tricity had gained Emerald's respect as the leader of this 'pack' and despite their times at the camps together, Neena had yet to do so.
"I thought the point of these meetings were to resolve confrontations amongst us members not delibrately avoid them." Emerald replied coldly. Her gaze squarely on Neena, "I'm gonna do what I believe is right, no matter what anyone says. So yea I'm gonna do what I believe best for both parties, no matter what. "
"I thought the point of these meetings were to resolve confrontations amongst us members not delibrately avoid them."
Neena sighed inwardly, careful not to let it show on the outside. She could tell from Emerald's tone and look that the wolf-girl didn't appreciate the conversation sidestep.
"I'm gonna do what I believe is right, no matter what anyone says. So yea I'm gonna do what I believe best for both parties, no matter what. "
The dark-skinned teacher nodded slowly. "That's all I can ask for."
She had a feeling she and Emerald would never be on easy terms, which was a real shame. The problem, or at least the way Neena viewed it, was that Emerald ran on emotion, while Neena didn't. Or at least, very rarely. She'd been told on more than one occasion that she came across as uncaring and cold. That wasn't true; she was simply logical, not sentimental or emotionally driven.
But as the old adage says, 'A man, or woman, convinced against their will, is of their own opinion still.'
Ah well. She'd have to find someone to team up with Emerald that could balance out the emotion. Preferably someone she knew and respected. Neena looked around.
Michael? That might be a good match. He'd done his best to look after Em and Ruby in the Camps. He might be able to keep her calm.
Streak? Possibly. Though she wasn't sure if the two of them knew each other very well. And Streak was new to the team. Hm.... maybe not then.
Raina? Maybe.
Ali? Could be.
Deathstar? Neena snorted mentally. She was trying to prevent an explosion. Putting dynamite and nitroglycerin in the same container, and shaking it, would probably be safer than teaming up those two.....
She continued to look around, appearing thoughtful.

With Emerald's comment Raina stood up. She had nothing against the wolf girl- she quite liked her actually- but they were of two completely different minds. 'Maybe some of us are fighting for the wrong team." she said under her breath to no one in particular. She was feeling stressed and worn down, tired and overwhelmed. "I think I need to get some sleep." she admitted. "I'm feeling too drained to speak about this or the x-men any longer... and classes are starting so I need to prepare." she gave a slight bob of her head. "Goodnight everyone." she walked past them and made her exit.
