The X-men run missions and work together with the NYPD, striving to maintain a peaceful balance between humans and mutants. When it comes to a fight, they won't back down from protecting those who need their help.
Haven presents itself as a humanitarian organization for activists, leaders, and high society, yet mutants are the secret leaders working to protect and serve their kind. Behind the scenes they bring their goals into reality.
From the time when mutants became known to the world, SUPER was founded as a black-ops division of the CIA in an attempt to classify, observe, and learn more about this new and rising threat.
The Syndicate works to help bring mutantkind to the forefront of the world. They work from the shadows, a beacon of hope for mutants, but a bane to mankind. With their guiding hand, humanity will finally find extinction.
Since the existence of mutants was first revealed in the nineties, the world has become a changed place. Whether they're genetic misfits or the next stage in humanity's evolution, there's no denying their growing numbers, especially in hubs like New York City. The NYPD has a division devoted to mutant related crimes. Super-powered vigilantes help to maintain the peace. Those who style themselves as Homo Superior work to tear society apart for rebuilding in their own image.

"You realize how hard it is for me not to say something stupid, right?" he said with a slight grin as he sat down and popped the cap on his beer before taking a swig.
Then she asked a very big and important question. " Honestly, I believe so," he murmured, smiling softly as he spoke. It was a kind of smile he hadn't shown often; there was no mischief in it, nothing flirty, nothing sly or coy. It was just...genuine.
Yeah, Lee knew that it was really difficult for Jay to not say something stupid. But that wasn't the part that she was interested in at the moment. Watching Jay, seeing that smile come across his face, hearing his words, Lee knew that he was telling the truth.
”That doesn't excuse how you acted,” Lee said before a smile curled one corner of her mouth. ”But that does make things easier. I know how much the right person changes everything.”

"I know it doesn't," he said with a small sigh, looking away from her, still holding onto his beer. Then, he smiled, nodding. "Yeah...I knew there was something...different about her," he murmured, then he paused, thinking of the implications.
"I mean...not that you weren't special or anything...I mean I'd never...." he paused again as his voice trailed off. "I'd never imply that you aren't. Because you are. Though I'm sure you're happy, yourself, right?" he asked, taking another sip.
Lee nodded as Jay tried to explain how this other woman had felt to him. Of it actually was, Lee knew it was hard to put into words at the best of times.
And then it sounded like he was trying to backtrack almost, and Lee just shook her head. ”Well of course, I'm just that good,” she said in a teasing tone. But then she went on as her voice turned more serious. ”But it doesn't really matter how special I am if you've found THE right one.”
But then he asked a question that Lee wasn't expecting, not from Jay, because he had never really asked her many questions. But as she sat there, a smile slowly grew on her face. ”I am,” she said slowly, her voice soft. ”Happier than I've been in years, actually.”

"Well, I'm not going to argue with you there," he said with a wink, sitting back a little as he got comfortable. He soaked in the rest of her words, and her answer to his question made him smile, and he gave a nod.
"I know I wasn't remotely the right one for you, but as happy as you are," he took another sip of his beer, "Maybe you found yours, too." With that, he leaned back against the couch as he continued to drink, in sips, taking care to make this bottle last. After all, it was too early to be drunk. And drunk with Lee in the room could end badly in quite a few ways.
Despite everything, this was probably the best conversation she had ever had with Jay, and half of it was about how he had dumped her, depending on how you looked at it.
But then Jay suggested the idea that Blaine might be her ‘one’. Lee's smile faded slightly as she shook her head. ”No,” she whispered, eyes having dropped to look at her beer again. ”I've already had that. He's the one you threw the bra down in front of. Blaine is just...” Lee took a deep breath and shrugged slightly, though her smile had grown just saying his name. ”Blaine.”

Jay quirked a brow at what she said, then took another sip of his beer. "So...your one was at the bar that night, and you're with someone who isn't..." he said, carefully choosing his words. "I mean, I'm by no means throwing stones, because my glass house is made from the finest, most fragile china available," he said with a small shrug.
"I mean, it does raise a few questions...but again, it's none of my damn business," he said with another shrug as he took another swig of beer. Really, he didn't care; whatever made her happy, that was good on her. In fact, he was lucky they were even having a civil conversation after the crap he'd said and done.
As Jay questioned the fact that Tarin had been her ‘one’, and he had been there at the bar that night, yet she was with Blaine instead, Lee’s frown returned in full force. ”Just because you’ve found, and married, the right one, the one who changes your whole world, doesn’t mean you’ve got happily ever after,” Lee whispered, glancing over at Jay for just a moment before looking down again. ”Things can still break, relationships still end.”
Lee paused as she thought. It was true, she never had had a happily ever after. The closest to that she had really gotten was the Texas stars and Vegas. But Blaine was safe, and simple in so many ways that Tarin had never been. And as she thought about Blaine, Lee’s smile slowly returned without her realizing. ”But that doesn’t mean you never try and move on or be happy.”

He blinked as she spoke, and her face did this weird thing where it went from smiley to frown to smiley again as she spoke. It was...rather weird. He put the beer bottle to his lips without actual drinking as he thought about her words, but honestly...it wasn't helping any. So he took a full blown swig.
"Okay...I'm royally confused, I admit, but I'm new to this whole love thing," he said with another shrug. "But from what I gather, as long as you're both...happy." He rubbed his head a little as he continued to think.
"It never gets easier, does it?" he asked after a moment.
Jay was confused. Though, as Lee started to think about it, she could understand. Of course he was. Even from day one, her and Tarin had been complicated, they’d never had normal, just their own brand of it.
Though, the same could be said about her and Blaine. They tried, but there were things that were only normal for the two of them, for their relationship.
”We are,” Lee told Jay, finally looking back over at him. To see the confusion even more evident on his face than it had been in his voice. ”I mean, I am happy. As far as I know, Blaine is too. I doubt he’d bother to keep me around if he wasn’t happy.” Well, it was the truth, wasn’t it? If he wasn’t happy being with her, it’s not like Blaine would stay just for the sex or something like that.

He continued idly toying with the beer bottle as she spoke, and he occasionally bit his lip in thought. It was really weird, but...it was theirs, so it was obviously special to her. And if that was the case, who cared what anyone else thought? Especially an ex-boyfriend.
"I'm glad you're happy, then. Whatever it is you have going on sounds like it means a lot to you," he said after a few moments of thinking. He smiled as he took another slow sip of his beer, still trying to make it last.
Lee smiled again as she heard Jay’s words. It was strange, hearing words like these coming from Jay, but this woman of his must have changed him a lot already. When they had been together, any mention of emotions had put Jay on edge, made him nervous.
”It does,” Lee said softly, happy smile still on her face. What she had with Blaine meant more to Lee than she had initially thought it ever would. ”I know it’s a little weird, but I’m starting to accept that I’ll never have real normalcy.”
Lee took a sip of her beer, then looked back at Jay with a bit of a chuckle. ”So how much trouble are you going to be in for this?”
Lee nodded. ”I’m starting to realize that,” Lee said softly. ”I thought I had normalcy before I came back to New York, but I wasn’t exactly happy there.”
Then Jay stuck his tongue out at her with his comment, and Lee raised her eyebrows at him. “Just for that, maybe I will leave a little surprise for you,” Lee teased with a wink of her own. Not that she was planning to, but she could always just leave that thought in Jay’s mind.

"What works for you, works for you. Screw everybody else," Jay said simply. Then at her comment, he gave more of a smug smirk as he looked at her.
"If you did, I'd just have to make sure to find it first, then. No more tossing them onto bars, though. I learned my lesson," he said with a nod as he settled in a little. This was actually kind of nice. Fun, even. And the fact that they'd slept together on occasion didn't really make things awkward this time.
