The X-men run missions and work together with the NYPD, striving to maintain a peaceful balance between humans and mutants. When it comes to a fight, they won't back down from protecting those who need their help.
Haven presents itself as a humanitarian organization for activists, leaders, and high society, yet mutants are the secret leaders working to protect and serve their kind. Behind the scenes they bring their goals into reality.
From the time when mutants became known to the world, SUPER was founded as a black-ops division of the CIA in an attempt to classify, observe, and learn more about this new and rising threat.
The Syndicate works to help bring mutantkind to the forefront of the world. They work from the shadows, a beacon of hope for mutants, but a bane to mankind. With their guiding hand, humanity will finally find extinction.
Since the existence of mutants was first revealed in the nineties, the world has become a changed place. Whether they're genetic misfits or the next stage in humanity's evolution, there's no denying their growing numbers, especially in hubs like New York City. The NYPD has a division devoted to mutant related crimes. Super-powered vigilantes help to maintain the peace. Those who style themselves as Homo Superior work to tear society apart for rebuilding in their own image.

Maya was equally on board with the notion of a magical world where there were magical versions of themselves running around, casting spells and whatnot. Of course, she could apparently rely on Maya to take her stray thought and ask the hard-hitting questions through word association.
Wizarding strip clubs. It was far from the established canon of Harry Potter, but a totally valid assumption in a magical world where adults lived. She still had to laugh, snorting up her drink and suffering the burning sensation that followed. Once she calmed down though, she amused herself with the idea. ”There totally woods be,” she agreed, before repeating to herself, ”Magic bikinis. Hoo woods they e’en work, ye hink? Maybe they tak themselves aff, ur jist vanish entirely! That’d be bloody helpful fur ye an’ Jesse. Weel. An’ Rebecca.” It was a captivating train of thought, but one that led to another drink as her mind returned to Jesse and Rebecca passionately tearing away clothing.
Rebecca looked over to the bottle they were quickly killing. ”Sam’ll be proper pissed at us.” If Maya ducked away to find a stash of nearby liquor, it was easy to guess Sam Johnson’s stash might have diminished somewhere in the building. ”Hink he’ll buy thes excuse? ‘Sorry Sammy, bit we foond it we apparently got merit kinda, sae we needed a bev tae celebrate?” It was absurdly close to the truth. They just found out versions of them were married, and the drinking was partially, in her eyes at least, to celebrate reuniting Rebecca and Jesse as much as it was to process their existence.

Maya drank immediately at the comment about the other Becca and her vanishing outfits. It was just too weird, since even with the tattoos and the age different, the two of them looked too much alike for it to not be awkward when they considered stripping. After Maya swallowed her drink, she gave a thought to the technicalities as well.
"I thought more like, changing color, or like, staying in place..." she muttered, eyeing the bottle "Whoa we drraaank..."
>>”Sam’ll be proper pissed at us. Hink he’ll buy thes excuse? ‘Sorry Sammy, bit we foond it we apparently got merit kinda, sae we needed a bev tae celebrate?”
"I think thas' the only excuse he'd accept" Maya grinned "Well, that, an' 'sorry Sam we had to get drunk...'" she sighed. She missed Sam sometimes, and he had definitely been distant lately. "Is it weird for us to... like, wait here?..."

Maya’s notions of magical bikinis were evidently more innocent than Rebecca’s ideas. She felt the redness in her cheeks, but she was certain ninety percent of the heat was in response to the alcohol they were making short work of. ”Oh. Ah’d buy ‘at bikini,” she muttered into her glass. Admittedly, it was a no-brainer; who wouldn’t be all over a bikini that could change appearance? She would never go to the beach wearing the same thing twice!
They interrupted their tangent of a conversation to admire (or lament) how quickly they took care of a bottle of liquor. When Becca drank with the gendershifter, they did have a habit of pounding drinks back, but they also usually had some recent lifechanging moment they were processing. Who could blame them for occasionally drinking to process their problems?
Well, then again, when she thought of it like that, it sounded just a smidge less acceptable.
Thankfully, Maya grabbed her attention before she started to tread into “accepting you have a problem” territory. Was it weird for them to be waiting a few rooms away for their counterparts to stop doing… what they were doing? ”Mebbe? Ah mean, we need tae talk tae them. Thes rift is a big deal, an’ they coods hae a lot ay valuable information abit th’ other side.”
Rebecca did wonder if, with Rebecca and Jesse reunited, she would serve New York and the X-Men best by getting back out into the crowds. Things were crazy, and the police and X-Men were spreading themselves thin. Still, Rebecca had made a valuable contact—an X-Man from the other side. Talking to Rebecca and Jesse would be invaluable to all Rip-related missions going forward.
She just could not bring herself to delay a moment the couple had been waiting on for two years. ”They’ll understand we need tae talk. They jist… need their moment.” And that was the last sip of her current glass. ”Fur aw intents an' purposes, waitin' fur them tae finish screwin' is fur th' greater guid. It's a really weird X-mission.” In the most roundabout way, Rebecca was experiencing a second mission where a version of herself slept with a version of Mirror. Certainly not a trend she expected to continue, let alone in such a bizarre way.
>>”Mebbe? Ah mean, we need tae talk tae them. Thes rift is a big deal, an’ they coods hae a lot ay valuable information abit th’ other side.”
"Oh, right. The rift." Maya blinked. She had almost forgotten where their doppelgangers had come from, in the face of the excitement around who they were and what they were doing (drink). But the portal between universes was still very much there, and the X-men were still covering it in collaboration with the cops, and probably also the other side. Which meant, information was important. Too bad they did not think that far ahead before they put the married couple in the mirror. (Drink.)
>>”They’ll understand we need tae talk. They jist… need their moment. Fur aw intents an' purposes, waitin' fur them tae finish screwin' is fur th' greater guid. It's a really weird X-mission.”
Maya snickered. The statement appeared to be nothing short of hilarious. Becca could be so funny sometimes...
"Well, if ya put it like that... Wait." she paused, eyes wide "Does that mean we are drunk on the job?..."
Oh, they definitely were. Maya mused about that for a moment.
"Well... I mean, their moment is 24 hours." she glanced at the clock "... 23 and a half. Refill?"
