The X-men run missions and work together with the NYPD, striving to maintain a peaceful balance between humans and mutants. When it comes to a fight, they won't back down from protecting those who need their help.
Haven presents itself as a humanitarian organization for activists, leaders, and high society, yet mutants are the secret leaders working to protect and serve their kind. Behind the scenes they bring their goals into reality.
From the time when mutants became known to the world, SUPER was founded as a black-ops division of the CIA in an attempt to classify, observe, and learn more about this new and rising threat.
The Syndicate works to help bring mutantkind to the forefront of the world. They work from the shadows, a beacon of hope for mutants, but a bane to mankind. With their guiding hand, humanity will finally find extinction.
Since the existence of mutants was first revealed in the nineties, the world has become a changed place. Whether they're genetic misfits or the next stage in humanity's evolution, there's no denying their growing numbers, especially in hubs like New York City. The NYPD has a division devoted to mutant related crimes. Super-powered vigilantes help to maintain the peace. Those who style themselves as Homo Superior work to tear society apart for rebuilding in their own image.

He didn't think. He just did it. Technically, it involved thinking (as all control of mental constructs does), but that was just being that one kid in the classroom who splits hairs over the tiniest details, and makes everyone angry. Really, there was no conscious thought involved (except the obvious amount). Shin shot his wedding ring at Gawain. "Grab on to my wedding ring!" He shouted.
Now, Shin could support a lot of weight with shard constructs. He could carry several people. It stood to reason that he could carry at least the weight of a person with a shard construct. The difficulty with that was always how well they could hold on. Bigger constructs are easier to grab, especially when you make it so the edges aren't razor sharp. Because that's important. But a smaller construct didn't have lifting restrictions. There was no balancing done there. Shards were shards, regardless of size. The difficulty was actually holding on to something tiny while you were moving at top speeds. It'd be like holding on to a tiny flying ball, and hoping it'd support your weight. There is no real world equivalent. The only thing Shin could think of was Harry Potter.
His ring blazed across the Danger Room, around and past obstacles, to hover inches from Mirror, within easy arm's reach. All he had to do was catch his balance, and grab it.
Once he had it, they'd go flying back to the mirror. He'd have to focus very hard. Mirror would have to hold on with both hands for dear life. Going 75 MPH, pulled along by the tiny ring in your hands is... disconcerting. But they'd do it. They'd win this scenario. Sometimes, X-men have code-names for their battle plans. It didn't take Beyonce to name his... but she certainly helped. If you like it, then you should have put a ring on it. It... didn't have a ring to it. That was awful. No.
Well, there was a sentence one did not hear every day... definitely not in Danger Room situations. However, Gawain did not exactly have much time to dwell on the surreal thing that this scenario had become - due to the fact that he was actively falling. Really, he would have grabbed on to anything that was at arm's reach, and since it just so happened to be a floating wedding ring made of shards, so be it. One of his hands closed over the ring, and then the other, rather awkwardly, since it really felt like he was grabbing on to thin air... except, thin air was definitely supporting him now.
And then he flew.
It was not a pleasant experience. It was fast, and crazy, and he could do nothing but hold on for dear life as he was flung around in crazy maneuvers by Shin's sheer power of will. But at least the end goal was clear?...
"Whoa, whoa, WHOA!" Gawain yelled as he saw his own, rather crazy-looking mirror image flying towards him. He let go of the ring, just the last minute, and landed in the mirror with considerable momentum - luckily timed just right, so he merged into it instead of breaking it.

The flying Mirror plan had been a success... at least, that was his momentary assessment. Whether it paid off in the end was all up to Mirror. As he worked on getting to the God room, the Asian worked on protection duty. Can't have the mirror shattered before he got there.
His ring sailed back to him, and Shib caught it. He turned, just in time to see a squarish box pop out of the floor. It looked like it had a white floor tile on its head. It took aim at him, and-- the Asian dove to the right. It turned, recalculating. That had been close! If it had shot the mirror while Mirror was inside it, Gawain would have had a bad time. Hopefully, the mirror shifter was out and about now, so they wouldn't have to worry about it, but for that moment while Mirror worked, he'd been wide open. The box shaped gun opened fire.
A trio of yellow discs shot out at him. He rolled to the side, dodging the first, and shot his ring at the second, like it was a stone pigeon, one of those discs used for shooting practice. The third made it through. It split apart, surprising him. A trick. Weighted ropes attached to a disc. Bolas. They caught him in the legs, and took his feet out from under him. Shin let out a curse in Japanese. A rarity, seeing as Shin hardly ever cursed in Japanese, and also, because Japanese was a language with very few curses to utilize. Most were just variations of crap, idiot, and bastard. Well then, for the sake of translation, this net around his legs was a crap idiot bastard.
This was not good.
Another laser gun sprang from a wall, and aimed its sights at the incapacitated Asian.
Gawain slipped out of the mirror just in time before the old school DR equipment registered him as a hostile shape, and smashed the glass to bits in an attempt to fire at him. Their observations still stood, the place was a mess, and definitely not cost effective, not to mention student friendly. Gawain ran into the nearest reflecting surface, which was the far wall, and then up to the God Room, through the mirror set there just for this purpose. Looking down, he could see Shin tangled and swearing, with a laser gun pointed straight at him.
"STOP!" he yelled, punching buttons as fast as he could "PAUSE PROGRAM! FREEZE! CUT IT OUT YOU PIECE OF S..."
There was a whining sound as the simulation powered down. Suddenly, robot arms flopped, laser guns dropped towards the ground, and the mechanical whirring and clinking of background machinery ground to a halt. The Danger Room was suddenly quiet and still. Gawain let out a sigh, and flipped a few switches to make sure the simulation was truly terminated.

Ow...
The scenario had stopped, robotic arms no longer doing their absolute best to turn him into sashimi. He was still tied up around the legs, but the gun had powered down and his arms were free. Things were looking up.
Mirror asked how he was, and Shin shoved the untangled bolas off his feet. He was ticked. There was no reason for such a sloppy scenario to be used, or to exist. It wasn't cost-effective, nor was it safe. The usual danger room could mimic the vintage danger room.
"I'm fine," he called back, shoving off the ground and regaining his feet. "I think it's true what they say, though. Mirror, you can't beat the classics." He smirked up at the God room, and explained himself. "I hardly think that scenario is winnable."
Shin was on the ground, with some kind of a rope - was that a bola?! - tangled around his legs, but seemingly more pissed than hurt. The scenario had ended, the machinery powered down, and they were both alive, and not cut to pieces. That had to be a win, although probably not the kind whoever had designed the old school DR would have hoped for.
>>"I think it's true what they say, though. Mirror, you can't beat the classics. I hardly think that scenario is winnable."
"Yeah, no." Gawain agreed, slipping through the mirror to return to the DR floor and help Shin up "I mean, depending on the students. But yeah, I don' think anyone could have won this one, unless they are some kind of a beast, or shoot laser beams from their eyes or something."
The mirrowalker looked around at the lifeless machinery.
"Sooo... should we have this whole rig taken down, then? I don't think it's gonna do us much good hidden under the floorboards..."

There comes a time in every man's life where he has to make a choice between leaving the highly dangerous mechanical apparatus training program buried in the secretive underground mutant training strong room for future generations, or destroying it. He was no beast and he couldn't shoot laser beams from his eyes. Just wedding bands from his finger. And it was just the one. Still...
He took Mirror's offered help. Smiled at the comment. Then, the smile turned wolffish.
"Truth be told?" Shin asked. "I kind of want to go at the coding and fix it up with some of the tech mutants at the mansion, and put in some upgrades to safety standards bringing it in line with the hard light systems we usually use. It's a blast from the past... and that's kind of awesome. I think with some tinkering, I can make this work for us, rather than against us... we may just have to beef up like some roid-raging 90s superhero with too many belt buckles and pockets." Did his reasoning make sense at all? Why remove what they could improve upon? With a little elbow grease, this could help them out way more than the coddling Modern Danger Room. Even if it was unbeatable... it'd be like some monstrous obstacle course for the old toughs. Which had a charm of its own.
